"Hey, calm down. I will not eat you. Humans taste nasty anyways." Kana could remember the few times she had tasted human meat, and it was not tasty at all.

All the farm animals have died, and the farms have all dried up in most places. So demis and humans have been eating each other..."

Kana did not expect to get such valuable information right off the bat, but there was something wrong with the young boy's story because the city not far from them was full of people walking around selling goods. "Okay, back!" Kana's hands had a small bag in them as she walked over and placed it on the table. "I know food is scarce right now, so it will be bad if you get caught with this, so I will put a special storage rune on his hand."

Kana figured if she combined her creation magic and her mastery over time and s.p.a.ce, she could easily create a pocket s.p.a.ce that was a rune she could then embed onto the back of the child's hand. Kana first set out some bread and some hot soup she had stored away from the previous night's dinner. "Eat slow. If you eat too fast, you will get sick."

The young boy had tears rolling down his cheeks as he took the bowl of soup and slowly sipped it. The taste of flavors bursting in his mouth made his mouth hurt at first, but it was so delicious. He wanted to down the whole thing but did as Kana said and slowly drank the soup and took small bights of the bread. When he was halfway done, he looked at the bowl and lowered his head as he softly whispered: "I wish my sister could have some of this..."

"How old is your sister?" Kana asked. She knelt down next to the young boy and took out some dried meat, and placed it in front of him.

The young boy took the dried meat and put it in his mouth. He did not chew on it. Instead, he sucked on it, savoring its taste. "My sister is a year younger than me and is seven. I had come out to look for food. We are hiding out in the woods not too far from here… We used to live in a village, but the people in the village began eating the kids whose parents had died. I did not wish for that to happen, so I took my sister and escaped to this forest."

Aoi could see that look in Kana's eye and sighed as she asked: "Are you going to bring them back?"

"Mmm… every child deserves a helping hand. While I know I can not help every child on this planet, if I can help these two, then at least they will be able to live. Plus, Bell had mentioned once about wanting to adopt a child before. She said she wanted to give unfortunate kids a chance to know what it is like to have a loving and caring parent in their lives. Aoi, Aruya, guys, am I being unfair for only helping these two? To be honest, I do not know..." She could try to feed as many children as she could, but one meal today would be gone after it is eaten, and they would be in the same position the next day. Instead of helping, it would seem like torture.

Even she had a limited supply of food. And her s.h.i.+p could never carry every desperate kid on this planet. It broke her heart just knowing this. But she could not turn this child away.
