Kana continued to eat until her stomach really could not take anymore. She leaned back in her chair with her eyes half closed, rubbing her belly while letting out a satisfied burp. It was not until she had already let it out that she came back to her senses. Her face turned bright red, and she sat straight up, lowering her head, waiting to be yelled at for acting so impolitely.

"Haha! Was it good?" Lysairth burst out laughing. She was all smiles as she watched Kana eat. She got up from her chair, walked over to Kana, and hugged the embarra.s.sed little girl. As she did, she whispered softly. "You will never go hungry again. So any time you wish to eat, just ask one of the maids they will prepare you whatever you wish for."

Kana was quiet. She really did not know how to even begin thanking this woman for her kindness. She was troubled about what to do. But soon blushed a bright red when she felt a warm wet sensation on her cheek. "Mwah!" Lysairth kissed Kana's cheek then pinched it. "Tonight, you will sleep with me, and tomorrow we will go out shopping and get you all kinds of new clothes."

"Oh? That sounds like a good idea. I will go with yo…"

"No! You won't! This is a girls' day out. Men can stay at home." Lysairth interrupted Pepelt before he had a chance to finish what he was saying. He stared at his wife with an aggrieved look. He also wished to pamper his new daughter!

This was just the start of Kana's new life. A life where searching for food was no longer her main priority. It was a new life where she could truly be a carefree little girl without worry. That night she was hugged to sleep by her new mother. The warm sensation and the motherly smell that came off Lysarith made her feel at ease and safe. On top of her full stomach, there was no way she wouldn't fall asleep quickly.

The next morning…

"Ehhhh!? Kana, you're twelve!?" Lysarith, along with both Killifia and Ceilie, were all wide eyed. They were completely astonished that Kana was actually twelve years old. She looked no more than nine or ten!

"That's fine. I am sure with you now properly eating. You will sprout to become a dazzling beauty!" Lysairth said with confidence as she patted Kana's head.

"That's right, Young Miss, you will be a beauty that all the men will want to marry in the future!" Ceilie added.

"Yes! Yes! Young Miss will be a beauty for sure!" Kiliffia also agreed.

"Ummm…" Kana spoke up, causing the three girls to turn and look at her. "Is it okay for you to call me Kana? I am not used to this whole young miss thing…"

"Haha! Sweety, it's fine. Kiliffia and Ceilie will be like your elder sisters from now on anyway, so them calling you by your name is fine. But only when at home. As we are from the Williams family, we need to keep up appearances on the outside." Lysairth had no issues with that. Even her personal maids only called her by her name within the house. But outside or in front of guests, she would call her madam.

"Mmm…" Kana nodded. She could deal with that. She still found it strange that just yesterday she was a poor girl who had to steal and beg just to get a meal, and even some days, she was forced to go without eating anything for days on end. But just this morning, she was given a hot breakfast that tasted so good she ended up crying again. And now she was out shopping with her new mother and personal maids who treated her like their younger sister. She truly felt blessed, but she still felt as if everything that was happening now was actually a dream.

Kana worried that at some point, she would wake up and find herself back in the back alley sleeping under a pile of trash to stay warm or to hide from people who would try to sell her off for a quick buck.

The only safe place she had found was the women's bathroom. But even that small safe haven was a place where bad things happened. She had heard many things she wished she had never heard. But now, she no longer had to worry about such things. She just had to make sure she was a good girl so her new mother and father would not throw her away. Even if Lysairth told her a million times that she would never toss her away, Kana would always have this worry weighing down her heart. She hoped as time went on, this fear of being tossed away would gradually disappear.

The girls all walked into the mall. Where many people were walking to and fro, some gave strange looks at the group as Kana did not look healthy at all. Although now that she was cleaned up and was very cute, the fact that she was malnourished was plain as day. Those who did not see her on social media would think her mother was starving the poor child, but those who did showed different reactions.

"Mrs. Williams is this the girl!? She does look sickly. Are you sure she won't die like your last child? " A middle aged lady said with a sneer as she walked over. She was on the hefty side, so when she walked, she had to walk in a waddle.

"Mrs. Burksley…" Lysairth's smile turned upside down. She hated this woman the most. She especially hated how this woman always picked the one thing that hurt her the most.
