Chapter 671 - Chase Part 2

Kana knew if she was caught, she would be dead. But she still had a single trump card that she knew she could use in order to suppress the man chasing her. It was just that by using it, her body would be vulnerable to attack. Her soul was not restricted to this world, so its strength was still there. She could solidify her soul and smack the little man to death, but that would not allow her to gain strength which was why she was not using it even if she was hurt and weak at this time. If she continually used the power of her soul, her body and cultivation would never rise. So even though the thought crossed her mind, she would not use it unless she absolutely needed to.

Kana stepped on air and continued forward. Her hand never leaving the hilt of her sword. She could hear the man in black's taunts behind her. But she ignored them as she did not care. She was not like the hot blooded youths of this world. Simple words would not offend her, at least some words. 

This fact alone was actually angering the man in black greatly. He thought he could at least get some kind of reaction out of this girl, but no matter what, she ignored him and continued running. "d.a.m.nit! How can she keep going at such speeds! Why is she able to move so fast without being able to even store spiritual qi in her body!? Not even devil pract.i.tioners are able to do such things."

As the man in black grumbled to himself, Kana was busy looking for a thicket. If she could find one, she could jump into it and transform.  She was just a little reluctant because she would end up losing her clothes in the process. She would have to leave them behind and only take the sword with her. She had nothing else of use on her at this time, so it would be no issue for her to grab her sword and run. 

As Kana continued forward, her eyes lit up when she saw exactly what she was looking for. She suddenly changed directions and moved further into the forest. The man in black behind her lips curled up into a smile as he watched Kana go deeper. "Haha! Now things are interesting! Do you think by going deeper you will live longer!?"

Kana snorted and spun around and drew her sword: "Moon crest!" A flash of light flew towards the man in black as Kana darted into the bushes. Seeing Kana attack, actually stunned him since he never thought that the weak girl he was chasing was actually a sword cultivator! "d.a.m.nit! Don't think this will give you enough time to escape!"

The man in black waved his hand, and a ball of blood red energy shot forward, slamming into the sword beam Kana had shot out, shattering it, and continued forward. Kana, who was just about to transform, thinking she would have enough time to escape, suddenly sensed imminent danger and jumped forward to try to dodge, but sadly she was a step too slow as the red ball of energy hit Kana's shoulder, tearing a huge chunk out of it. "Ahh!" 

Kana couldn't help but scream out loud as she flew forward and tumbled through the thick thicket. She gritted her teeth and quickly transformed as her robes were now in tatters. She picked up her sword and went to charge forward only to find nothing but air as she fell into a deep hole hidden within the thicket. 

After Kana disappeared into the hole, the thicket seemed to move back, covering it up once more. The man in black arrived seconds later and looked around. "Where is she!?" 

He quickly spotted her clothes and blood drops that led to where she disappeared.  he dug through the thicket to find the hole she fell through. "Hmph! Do you think you can hide from me underground?" He was actually quite confused as to why she left her clothes, but he just figured she was trying o divert his attention.

The man in black was already angered beyond belief. He never thought he would have this much trouble with such a weak opponent. He did not wish to give up his prey. Such a unique looking race was bound to have golden blood. Just the thought of his cultivation skyrocketing after consuming her blood made him lick his lips as he jumped down the hole.

Kana, on the other hand, was having an issue, a very, very big issue. She truly wanted to cry. "Why now of all times do you do this to me!?"  With tears in her eyes, she rolled on her back and pulled out the evil of all worlds that always seemed to go for the same location on her body every time. Luckily no one was here to see it this time. 

With her obstruction removed. Kana quickly continued further deeper into the darkness that now surrounded her. She could smell the dampness of the cave or at least what she thinks is a cave and the scent of dirt from above.  She could see long roots running down the walls near her, but she could only see a few steps away as the rest of the area was pitch black.

"b.i.t.c.h, where are you!? Don't think you can run from me!" The man in black's voice echoed throughout the darkness. He sounded close yet far.

Kana frowned and continued forward. Her only way of escaping at this time was to hide within the darkness and hope to find an exit. She had no idea where she was, but at least her current situation was better than trying to outrun the man in black out in the open. She had learned from Liu Na that it was best to only use your trump cards in a situation where you have no other choice. That is because there is no telling what kind of life saving treasures or skills your opponents have as well. She could use her soul to get out of the situation and suppress the man in black, but if he has a treasure that can teleport him… Then not only would he get away, but he would also know her greatest trump card. This was another reason why she held off on bringing her soul out.

Kana's beady dragon eyes blinked in the darkness as she let out a sigh. "Let's just try to go deeper…"
