The next morning Kana stretched her arms and hopped down from her tree. She cultivated all night and could feel she was only a tiny bit away from breaking through. But she would not be able to do it without a decent fight to breach that last hurdle. One thing Kana realized about cultivation was that it was a method of strengthening the body through means of masochism. While she did think this, she still had to admit that the results were well worth the pain she had to go through. She did feel many times stronger after reaching the peak of stage twelve of body fortification.

Kana made her way through the forest, not stopping for the rank one demonic beasts that she pa.s.sed. Most ignored her or quickly ran away when they sensed her rank two beast core. It was not until she traveled for half a day did she finally run into a higher ranked demonic beast.

Weeks pa.s.sed when a girl with four wings, horns with halos on them, and a tail walked over to join the line that led to the entrance of Moon Crest City. The line was long and seemed to be at least an hour's wait before she would reach the entrance. The reason for such a long line was because Moon Crest Academy was going to be doing their test today. But even with all the beautiful girls lined up, the girl with wings caught a lot of attention due to how revealing her clothing was. Her pearly white legs were bare all the way to the thighs, with only a pair of shorts covering her bottom. Her midriff was visible to all, revealing her cute little belly b.u.t.ton.  Her chest was wrapped in a single layer of cloth, keeping her two little b.u.mps from being seen by all. Such revealing clothing was very stimulating for these young men who were used to the norm of society. 

This eye catching girl with her multi colored hair was none other than Kana. That day she had entered the forest, she got into a battle that lasted four days straight with a rank three demonic beast. To call it a battle was calling it nicely. It was more of a slugfest because it was a fiery king ape that had been turned into a sparring partner. Because the fiery king ape is a proud race of demonic beasts, when Kana picked a fight with it, it would not let her go. And Kana, who lost her cool after being slapped by said ape and sent flying into a ma.s.s of trees, completely forgot she had a sword at her side and began street brawling with the ape with her fists.

For four days, the two fought, destroying a good portion of the forest. Kana had many broken bones during this time. The fiery king ape was not an easy opponent as it could strengthen its body by many times. By the end of the battle, Kana's face was black and blue. One of her arms dangled at her side, and she had a broken s.h.i.+n bone causing her to have to drag her foot as she walked.

This was not to say that the fiery king ape was not in any better position. Its face was just as swollen as Kana's, and it had multiple ribs, both legs, and an arm broken during the fight. But this battle also formed a friends.h.i.+p between the two. And the fight only stopped when Kana began to breakthrough. She tossed a potion to the fire king ape before drinking on herself and sat down cross legged. She quickly entered a state of cultivation, ignoring the fiery king ape's presence. The fiery king ape took the potion and drank it without hesitation. It knew Kana meant it no harm. But what was surprising was that even though Kana was sitting a few meters away, the fiery king ape did not try to attack her. It just sat that looking at her, waiting to see what would happen.

Kana had already circulated the spiritual qi in her body a few times. The spiritual qi kept slamming into a small barrier over and over. Kana continued to use the spiritual qi she gathered in the air to slam into the wall. Each time would send a wave of pain throughout her body. She endured as she gritted her teeth and kept on going. Until finally, a cracking sound was heard, and a warm sensation spread throughout her body. Within her dantian, a wisp of spiritual qi could be seen floating around in her dantian. She had successfully broken through to the qi gathering realm. 

The power within her was ten times that of a normal qi gathering cultivator. At this moment, she could defeat anyone within her realm with ease. Although to those around her, she looked as if she was a weakling with bad apt.i.tude due to her looking to be around eighteen to twenty years of age and only in the qi gathering realm. No one would think that she had just begun cultivating less than a year ago.

Kana stood in line and stretched as she waited her turn. Kana was just minding her own business when a young man suddenly walked up to her. "How much?"

Kana's good mood suddenly turned sour as she looked at the young man with cold eyes. Killing intent began to radiate off of her and pressed down on him. "I dare you to ask that again."

The young man's face turned pale. He had never felt such strong killing intent in his life! He quickly retreated back a few steps, causing the girls in line to giggle. "Serves him right."

"I can't even believe he asked such a thing." 

"She may not have much on, but it's not like she is flaunting anything. She hasn't even made eye contact with anyone this entire time." 

"If you ask me, I think her clothes are cute. Plus, she has wings on her back, so it's probably hard to wear robes. "

"She should slap him."

"Yeah, he deserves a slap."

  Kana yelled at the young man, who was both frightened and embarra.s.sed at the same time. She could tell he was really regretting what he had just asked.. With a smile that was not quite a smile took a step forward and asked: "They say I should slap you. So should I?"
