Chapter 966: The Return Of Devan

For the next few weeks, wherever Kana went, the egg in her arms went. She never put it down for even a second. She bathed with it, slept with it, she ate with it, she even tried to feed it meat, but Creige stopped her.

On the fourth week after the egg had grown many times its original size, Kana was in her bedroom carefully s.h.i.+ning it when a cracking sound was heard causing Kana's hand to freeze before she started to panic! "Did I crack it!?"

"Your Highness, I do not think you did anything!" Xue quickly ran over trying to calm Kana down who was about to burst into tears. Luckily seconds later, a small hand pushed through the crack. This made Xue jump and stand back as Kana watched with excited eyes as the little one inside broke through the sh.e.l.l and poked his head out. His eyes scanned the room, falling on to Xue first, then on to Kana. When his eyes locked on to Kana, a warm smile formed on his lips, he quickly broke the sh.e.l.l enough to climb out of it and kicked it aside before walking over to Kana who was staring at him in a daze, and hugged her tightly. "Mama…."

"Mmmm….. Devan Mama is here….." Kana's tears began to flow once more as she hugged the small figure gently.

Devan sensed his mother crying and smiled as he hugged her tighter. "Mama, don't cry. I do not blame you for the past. Because of everything, I was able to be reborn in a time when things are less dangerous. So do not feel sad anymore…."

Devan was not good at consoling people. But he did not wish for his Mama to feel she had done something wrong to him. He only heard Kana's m.u.f.fled response through her sobs as she continued to hug him.

Xue stared at the scene, unsure of what to do when the door suddenly burst open, and Creige came running in. "Devan!" Creige's eyes went wide seeing the little man hugging his wife, and went to go hug the two of them when a little hand swatted his arm away.

Creige chuckled and went to try again, only to be smacked away again. A third time…. A fourth time….. A fifth time…. "Fine!" Creige yelled out as he gave up, causing Xue to almost choke on air as she tried to hold her laughter back. This was the first time she had seen his majesty being treated in such a way.

"Creige! Don't yell at my baby!" Kana yelled as she wiped the tears from her eyes and defensively held her son.

Creige looked at Kana with an aggrieved expression before caving in. "Alright, I was wrong. Sorry….."

"Mmmm…. Devan, say h.e.l.lo to your Handsome Papa." Kana spoke softly as she stroked the top of Devan's head.

Devan looked at Creige, who was looking at him expectantly, and nodded his head. "h.e.l.lo." Devan had no real feelings for this man. He only cared about his Mama. He knew how much heartache she had to go through in her life and only wished to protect her and her loved ones. So that did include the man, but that did not mean he had to be nice to him.

Creige expression sank. He wondered if his son hated him! Feeling dejected, he sat on the edge of the bed and tried to reach out and touch his son's head, only for his hand to be batted away once more. But this time… "Devan be good…." Kana's voice was soft and full of amus.e.m.e.nt. She found it funny that her son was shunning his Handsome Papa.

Devan frowned and finally let Creige touch the top of his head. When he saw the distress in his father's eyes, he decided he wouldn't be so mean all the time. Creige's eyes were watering up as he touched his baby boy's head. He looked like a three year old but he looked almost identical to how he remembered him. The only difference was the dragon tail and wings, which meant he took more after his Mama. His full head of black hair and deep black eyes matched well with his new baby soft skin and white complexion.

"If you keep rubbing the same spot, I will go bald before I even reach a year old…." Devan complained as he swatted Creige's hand away. Creige had been so engrossed in his head petting he did not realize he was rubbing the same spot.

"Sorry…." Creige felt like he was apologizing a lot. But he did not care. For his son, he owed a lot. He owed him an entire lifetime. So he would apologize as many times as needed.

Devan looked at his father and sighed: "As I told Mama, this is not your fault. You both did what you did because of the circ.u.mstances. So do not think I am holding a grudge or that you owe me anything."

"Mm…." Creige looked at his manly baby boy and did not know what to say other than a soft hum.

Kana smiled as she continued hugging her new baby for a bit longer before picking him up to go take a bath together. Creige wanted to protest, but when Kana glared at him, he had no choice but to relent. As for Devan, he would do as his Mama wished.

After a nice bath, Kana dressed Devan in a set of black robes with golden dragons on them, just like Kana would wear to court, before getting dressed and carrying Devan off to tour the palace before she had to go to court.

But as they went to exit the room, five young women stood outside the room waiting. "Mama is this our little brother!?" Bi Ling was the first to speak up.

"Sister Bi, I do not think Mama would kidnap some young boy out of nowhere." Mei Ling replied, causing Bi Ling to purse her lips. "Mei, I was just asking!"

"Okay, no fighting. You will frighten your brother." Kana lightly scolded as she continued: "To answer your question Little Bi, it is. This is your brother, Devan. And I think it might be better to say older brother?"

"Mama, I was just born, so it would still be younger brother. Even if I still have memories of my past."
