Fu Hua and Jia Li engaged in a kissing session before they were interrupted by the sound of Jia Li's phone vibrating on the nightstand.

"Who is calling?" Jia Li asked as she broke the kiss.

Fu Hua got up and picked her phone from the nightstand. He glanced at the caller ID and a frown appeared on his face.

Jia Li saw the change in his facial expression and asked with a frown, "Who is that?"

Fu Hua pa.s.sed the phone to her without a word. When Jia Li saw the caller ID, she knew why his mood was quick to change.

Because of the sleeping Jasmine, Jia Li went into the inner room to answer the call. But before she left, she gave a sign to Fu Hua that she was leaving to answer the call, in order not to disturb the sleeping child.

Fu Hua nodded and sat back on the bed. His entire mood was in a mess. He didn't know why Li Huan liked to call his wife at night and that made him unhappy.

Jia Li answered the call just before it could disconnect.

"Brother Huan, good evening." Jia Li greeted.

"Good Evening. Jia Li I'm sorry I'm calling so late but I just found time to call now." Li Huan replied.

"It's okay, are you very busy at work?" Jia Li asked.

Li Huan thought Jia Li didn't mind the time he was calling and that she cares for him to ask about his work, so he felt a little joyful in his heart.

Actually, Jia Li didn't mind that he hasn't called for a long time because she didn't care about him like she used to, so she was not bothered. But as someone she has known for a long time, she still had to show a little concern, so she asked about his work.

"Yes, I am. After getting promoted, the workload increased instead of reducing but the pay is worth the stress." Li Huan answered.

"When you move to a higher rank, expect more work. You can find time to rest during weekends." Jia Li suggested.

"I will listen to you, thank you. How are you doing? How is your child? I'm sorry I'm just checking up on you now." Li Huan apologized.

"Brother Huan, stop apologizing. My baby and I are fine and we are doing great." Jia Li replied.

Li Huan heaved a sigh of relief. "That's good. What's your baby's gender, I need to get a gift to welcome her into this world?"

"It's a princess. Brother Huan, there is no need to get anything for her, she already has a lot of gifts that can be used all on her." Jia Li said with a frown.

"It doesn't matter. You are now like a sister to me, please accept the gift. You can't reject your brother's gift." Li Huan said with a painful smile on his face.

He couldn't believe he was calling someone that once used to be his love, his sister. Life was unbelievable.

The reason he hasn't contacted her for so long was that he was trying to get over her and get rid of the romantic love he had for her.

Jia Li was already tired and had no strength to argue with him. She let him be.

"Thank you for accepting the gift. Please give me your house address, I will send the gift over by tomorrow." Li Huan said.

"My house address?" Jia Li said in a dilemma. She didn't want to give out her home address Fu Hua would be angry if she does that, she could already see his change in facial expression when he saw who was calling her.

An idea came to her head and she said to him, "Brother Huan, instead of buying the wrong gift and growing through all that trouble to send the gift over, send the money to me and I will buy the perfect gift on your behalf."

The expectant smile on Li Huan's face vanished. He was disappointed that he couldn't get her address. He wanted to know where she was living at least but it looks like she didn't want him to know.

Li Huan smiled bitterly and said to her, "Are you afraid that I would visit you? Don't worry, I won't do that. But it's okay, send your details, I will send the money for the perfect gift for your princess."

Jia Li sighed in relief.

"Brother Huan, thank you for understanding. Please if you want to call next time, don't do that at night, it could wake the baby and it would be troublesome putting her back to sleep." Jia Li said to him in a gentle tone.

Jia Li used Jasmine as an excuse to get Li Huan to stop calling her late in the evening. Fu Hua was already annoyed about it and she didn't find it right since it wasn't an emergency or business-related call. She sounded gentle, so he wouldn't feel bad.

Li Huan could gradually feel the distance between him and Jia Li but what can he do? Nothing...

"Sure, no problem. I'm sorry about calling so late. Good night." Li Huan said to her.

"Thank you! Please send my regards to Aunty." Jia Li said to him.

"I will." Li Huan replied.

After the call terminated, Jia Li went back to the bedroom. Fu Hua was still sitting in the same position he was when she left.

"Are you through with the call?" Fu Hua asked with his gaze on her.

"Yes. He called to apologize about not reaching out to me..." Jia Li went on to explain the details of their conversation.

"It's good that you warned him, let's see if he would listen this time around. Next time, don't accept any gift or money from him, reject him outright or you can mention me. I don't want you to feel indebted to anyone." Fu Hua said to her.

"It's okay, I get it. If he calls so late again, I won't answer the call." Jia Li promised.

Fu Hua didn't want to dwell on the matter. He made her a lot on the bed before helping to bring the great pump.

He wanted her to pump breastmilk for Jasmine so he could help to feed her in the middle of the night if she woke up due to hunger.
