Chapter 470 - Fu Meixu Cancels On Jia Li

After cross-checking her lists, Jia Li called FangSu and Fu Meixu out to invite them for tea during her lunch break.

"Can you make it by this time, because I really have something important to talk about?" Jia Li asked over the phone and the two ladies agreed to meet her.

Fu Meixu just finished a meeting with her manager and her agency's director, so she had free time currently, while FangSu said had a rehearsal but would come to meet her before attending it.

Jia Li was happy they could make out time to see her despite having their own schedule. Another option would have been to talk to them at home but she was not sure they would still be awake by the time she returned home, since she doesn't reach home on time these days, so she asked to meet outside.

Immediately it was time for her lunch break, Jia Li picked up her phone, car keys and purse before leaving her workplace.

Arriving at the cafe she was to meet the Fu sisters, Jia Li was surprised that they were already sitting there and waiting for her.

"I'm so sorry for keeping you waiting." Jia Li apologized as she hugged them one after another before going to sit down.

"Not at all, I just got here and Meixu only arrived 2 minutes ago," FangSu replied with a smile.

"I have to thank you both for coming out to see me. Please make your order first before we go straight to business." Jia Li said and called a waiter to take their orders.

"Jia Li, what did you want to talk about, I know it's serious by the way you look." Fu Meixu asked with a curious gaze on Jia Li.

Jia Li thought it would be good to start talking about business while waiting for their order to arrive, so she started off by bringing up the model work she had for them, before exploding the kind of compet.i.tion show FJ was hosting according to what Sunny revealed to her.

"...so I would like you to consider my proposal. I have confidence in my work and I know you will get a good exposure since the show would look like the Autumn Fas.h.i.+on Show." Jia Li said to them.

FangSu was the first person to speak. "Sister-in-law, your proposal is better and it makes me want to take up the job immediately. I will speak to my manager about it, so he can make an arrangement for that day."

"Really? Thank you!" Jia Li said gratefully. She had thought that she would have to do a little more talking before FangSu would agree, so she was very happy when she said she would speak to her manager to make a provision for that date.

"There is no need to thank me. You have made me want to do this and besides, this will start to help to fulfill my dreams of working with FJ!" FangSu replied.

FangSu's career dream has always been to work with FJ but since Bai Jun came into the future and made her burn the bridges, she has not had any opportunity of stepping foot inside FJ to do anything. Now, this opportunity Jia Li presented, would be a stepping stone for her.

One down! It remained Fu Meixu who was yet to say something, so both Jia Li and FangSu glanced at her in partic.i.p.ation.

"When did you say the show was again?" Fu Meixu asked with a slight frown.

"The first weekend in December, on a Sat.u.r.day morning precisely." Jia Li replied with a keen gaze on Fu Meixu but looking at her change in facial expression, Jia Li guessed that it may not work out.

From the first week of December down to the middle of the second week in December, Fu Meixu wouldn't be in the country as she had a shoot in New York City.

When Jia Li heard about this, she was only disappointed for a few seconds before cheering up.

"How come you have a shoot in New York for this long?" FangSu asked with a frown.

"I'm coming from a meeting with my manager and director and we just concluded about this matter. This is an international opportunity which I can't miss, especially when I was asked for." Fu Meixu replied.

"It's okay, I will fill your place up." Jia Li said to her.

"Jia Li, I'm so sorry about this. I would have loved to make the headlines in your dress but I will have to pa.s.s. But if you are having trouble contacting someone to fill my place, I can recommend a senior to you." Fu Meixu said as she tries to make up for her absence.

"No don't worry, I have it all covered. Thank you for your time and help, I really appreciate it. Please have something to eat before leaving." Jia Li said to them as the waiter served their order.

Jia Li was happy that Sunny's advice has a role to play in this current situation because she won't be left stranded, as she can now use the backup plan she prepared for Fu Meixu.

"You have been coming back late recently, what's the progress of your work?" Fu Meixu asked.

"I have made 3 dresses, but they are still plain, I haven't applied the finis.h.i.+ng touches on them. I will only start working on their touches when I have the base of the dresses completed." Jia Li replied.

Since the start of the compet.i.tion, she has been going home late because she has been working overtime. And the worst was this week, she now returns home around 7 p.m. because of the work she has to do in the office.

"I wish you the best because I can see how tiring this is." FangSu said to her.

"It is tiring but I have to continue working hard for the reward." Jia Li replied.

Jia Li was the first person to finish her snacks because she was working with time.. She kept glancing at her wrist.w.a.tch while eating and finally when she was done eating, she left FangSu and Fu Meixu after saying goodbye to them and paying for their order.
