Chapter 568 – A Trap Not A Blessing

"Do you feel happy using people?" Carlos asked after Alix informed him of his next task. He seemed to be unhappy that she has reduced him to an errand boy.

Alix smiled and touched his jaw. "You are the only one who I trust to help me. We will go back soon but before that, I want to do the groundwork and if possible, floor it as well."

"Investigating that woman might trigger the Fu family, are you sure about this?" Carlos asked with a frown.

With the way Jia Li was being loved by the Fu family, he was thinking that's the same way they protected her privacy.

Alix moved her fingers away from his jaw and went back to sit on the couch before saying to him, "You are a lawyer, you should know how to do things quietly and smoothly."

With her indirectly questioning his profession, he didn't know what to say to her.

"You have a big reward waiting for you if you manage to find out something interesting." Alix added with a profound smile.

She was obviously giving him a heads up that he wasn't going to work for her for free and that there was a big reward attached to it, in order to encourage him to work harder.

"You really know how to entice people. I will get to work now." Carlos said before walking away.

One thing Alix understood from Jia Li and Fu Hua's relations.h.i.+p was that Fu Hua loved Jia Li with his heart. Imagine punis.h.i.+ng his mother and sister greatly because they bullied his wife?

That love wasn't an everyday affair. And because of that, Alix was set to break them apart even if she might not end up getting to be with Fu Hua.

A month later, Alix was forced to return to the Suarez family if she was still interested in the 1% shares.

The will was long ready and would be read out soon, and her presence was needed to sign the agreement that belongs to her. Mr. Suarez had told her that if she doesn't come back within a period, then she has to forget about those company shares.

How could Alix forget those shares when it was the very reason she had a child in the first place. A child she didn't breastfeed or give her milk to.

How many times did Alix hold her child? Actually, the number of times wasn't important but the reason behind it.

She only holds her child when she wants to take close 'intimate pictures' or when the caregiver is busy with something else and the child is crying a lot, then she would have no choice but to lift him while calling for the caregiver to come immediately.

When Alix arrived at the Suarez house, she was welcomed personally by her old husband and a few members of the family.

Glancing at Alix whose figure had returned to its original shape and her skin was glowing, Mr. Suarez's daughter said to her, "How did you manage to have time to take care of yourself when you just had a child?"

She was indirectly saying that Alix only had time to care for herself and not her child since she could look this good only after 3 months plus she gave birth.

"Don't be jealous of my body, as this is the advantage of being younger." Alix said with a big smile on her face.

She knew those words were going to infuriate her but she said it anyway, to get back at her.

That night, there was a feast to welcome the new child back to the family. The grandchildren of Mr. Suarez were disgusted by the disorder in their family.

Alix was their step-grandmother, and now that she had a son, he would be their Step uncle, what a horror story in manifestation.

Carlos didn't go back with Alix. He spent a few more days in China before coming back, and two weeks later, he read out Mr. Suarez's will.

Although n.o.body was happy with the 1% shares given to Alix, they couldn't say much because she had a child, and Mr. Suarez wouldn't want to leave his flesh and blood, out of it.

Alix smiled when she got the copy of the agreement after putting down her signature. Right now, she had full rights to the shares as she was now a part of the shareholders. But when her child turns 18, she would automatically lose the right to the shares, as he would take over.

Later, when Alix had time, she read through the agreement she just signed and discovered that there was no loophole for her to make use of.

She couldn't sell the shares to an outsider as that was an inheritance. She was a minor shareholder and wasn't allowed to attend the meeting, except the general one.

This was a trap not a blessing. 'So much for all the trouble, I pa.s.sed through?' Alix cursed.

A few days later Alix left the house, leaving her child to his nanny who was immediately employed when she returned.

Alix left to meet Carlos to inquire about the investigation she put him in.

"Did you find out any important information?" Alix asked.

"Don't send me to do this kind of work for you again. I'm not from China and it was really hard for me to find her hometown and also ask questions." Carlos grumbled.

It took him a lot of time and effort to find a piece of valuable information.

"Okay. So what did you find?" Alix asked with an impatient gaze.

Carlos went on to bring out the file he brought with him and pa.s.sed it to her. Alix thought some important doc.u.ment was in there so she went on to open it but to her disappointment, there were only two pictures of some unfamiliar people.

"What is the meaning of this?" She asked in an annoyed tone.

"The older woman there is Miss Qin's Aunty, Qin Mu Keer. She is her father's sister. The other two are her children." Carlos explained.

Alix put the pictures down on the table and glared at him. "What do you want me to do with that information?"
