Some hours later, the surgery was over, and most importantly, it was successful. With tears of joy in her eyes, she followed the nurses wheeling her mother into another room.

In fact, they had to take an elevator to the VIP floor which was a big surprise to Xiulan.

”Doctor, are you sure we are going to the right place?” She asked with fear in her tone.

”The doctor smiled and nodded. Xiulan did not speak any more until they got to the VIP floor, and her mother was taken into one of the rooms there.

Xiulan would never be able to afford this, so she immediately interrupted the doctor discussing with the nurses as her mother was settled in.

”Doctor, it looks you are mistaken. I will never be able to afford this room, and I didn’t pay for this place…”

The doctor smiled and caught her off. before she could continue describing how poor she was. “Your Boss paid for it, he said we should take good care of your mother in a good environment.”

”My Boss?” Xiulan said in confusion. ‘Was it, Mr. Fu? Did he tell them that he was my Boss?’ She thought to herself.

”This nurse will be here to care for your mother at any time. You can press this b.u.t.ton if there is an emergency when she steps out.” The doctor explained.

Each patient in any of the VIP rooms gets a.s.signed to a nurse that will take care of them till they are discharged.

Xiulan was happy with this benefit, but she was a little annoyed within her. Knowing how much the VIP treatment would cost, she wondered why Fu Ling didn’t give her that money to pay back the 50% that remained from the surgery.

Xiulan was thinking this without knowing that he had completed full payment. Her mother didn’t owe any bills in the hospital as he already paid the entire 100% she owed.

When the doctor was about to leave, she asked him politely, “Doctor, where is my bill, can I see it to know much I’m owning?”

The doctor smiled at her and said, “You are not owing any bills in this hospital, your Boss already took care of everything. And since he was the one that paid for everything, we gave the receipt to him.”

Xiulan watched in amazement as the doctor left with the two nurses.

She no longer owed the hospital and there was no pressure from them anymore, and now, she had only one person to face, and that was held former Boss, Fu Ling.

Xiulan forgot to contact Fu Ling after the surgery, she had so many thoughts going through her head, coupled with her concern for her mother.

It was not until she saw Fu Ling’s call on her phone that she remembered that he had asked her to call him once the survey was over.

Xiulan covered her mouth with her hands in panic. She was afraid of being scolded by her former Boss. Since she once worked for him, that fear of being scolded by him when a task was not done well, was still there.

At last, she answered the call, and before he could say anything to her, she hurried and apologized to him and told him the room they were moved to.

Fu Ling ended the call without saying anything. What could he say to her when her mind was distracted? She was no longer his employee, so he couldn’t scold her.

Some minutes later, he arrived at the hospital and went straight to the VIP floor and got into the room number Xiulan had told him about.

Immediately she saw him, she got to her feet and apologized once again.

Fu Ling walked in with his hands in his pockets and went straight to the bed where her mother was laying with her eyes closed, and breathing with the help of an Oxygen mask.

”How is your mother now, what did the doctor say?” He asked without any sign of concern on his face.

Xiulan narrated everything the doctor had told her, and then remembered what he had also said about their hospital bills and also brought it up.

”Sir, I heard from the doctor that you cleared all our bills and placed my mother here. You didn’t have to pay for everything, they were going to do the surgery if I had paid them 50%.” Xiulan said with a tensed gaze.

Fu Ling slowly moved his gaze from her mother to her. “If you are grateful, you only have to thank me and quit complaining. Right now, you sound ungrateful and unsatisfied.”

Xiulan fixed her gaze on the floor and refused to look up because she was guilty. Fu Ling was right, if she was grateful, she should have thanked him and shut her mouth instead of complaining.

”Since everything is alright, I will take my leave now. Don’t forget to it and come to take care of your mother when you get off work.” Fu Ling advised with his gaze on her.

He knew that there was a nurse a.s.signed to take care of her mother, so she could go back to work and come to take care of her mother after work each day till she was discharged.

Xiulan thanked him for his reminder, which was such a good idea. Now that her mother was no longer in danger, she could go back to work and start earning money because of the heavy debts she had to settle now.

When Fu Ling was about to leave, Xiulan asked about the money she owed him and when she can pay for it. She was about to bring up her strategy for paying the bills since it was enormous and she didn’t have that kind of money with her, but he shut her up.

”When your mother is discharged, we will talk about the mode of payment for your to repay your debts.” Fu Ling said before leaving.

He didn’t think it was appropriate for them to talk about her debts when her mother was still in the hospital, so he stopped her from mentioning it again.
