Chapter 709 Rejection

Fu Juan came out of her father’s study, looking moodier than before.

Butler Li and Lanying could guess that all did not go well, given how she did not fail to hide her facial expression.

”Lanying, let’s go!” Fu Juan took Lanying’s hand and stormed off with her. When they got to their bedroom, Lanying tried to probe by asking questions, but Fu Juan chose not to give a straight reply.

”It looks like everyone is angry that I failed to tell them about you before today. Don’t worry, I will settle this matter myself, you don’t have to worry about it.” Fu Juan said to her.

She was still unhappy with her family’s reaction to her choice of life. She believed that they were being petty as she didn’t have to explain her life to them before they can understand her.

While Fu Juan and her daughter were resting, the youngsters of the Fu family returned from their various locations, only to learn about a certain young man whom their Aunt brought over and introduced as her adoptive daughter.

Fu Hua didn’t say anything and took Jia Li’s hand to leave while holding his sleeping daughter in his other arm.

As for Fu Ling, he acted like Fu Hua, as if the matter didn’t concern him. It was only FangSu and Meixu who reacted to the breaking news.

”What’s wrong with Aunt, does she think this place is where she can bring anybody?” Meixu said and walked away.

”Aunty Juan is really something else. She does what she wants to do, and then runs back to us.” FangSu said in an annoyed tone.

At the dinner table, the whole family a.s.sembled. Fu Lei and Fu Geming who had gone out for a meeting were on time to join the rest of the family for dinner.

By the time Fu Juan and her daughter came down for dinner, everybody was already sitting. Everyone’s gaze was on them as they made their way towards them.

On getting to FangSu’s side, Fu Juan glanced around before returning her gaze to FangSu and said, “FangSu, is alright that you and your cousins didn’t come to welcome me, but now that you know I am back, you should know that this is my sitting position.”

Fu Hee and Fu ChuHua scoffed and looked away, while Lanying watched obediently from the side. As for the rest of the family, they were surprised by Fu Juan’s att.i.tude.

FangSu smiled and didn’t look angry, instead, she said, “Aunty, you are wrong. Your sitting position used to be exactly where my sister-in-law is sitting, and if you really want to reclaim your position, you can ask my brother and his family to move to another seat, while you occupy that one, with the lady beside you.”

FangSu’s reply was perfect. She neither raised her tone nor acted disrespectfully towards her. She just gave her a rope to drag Fu Hua and Jia Li away from her sitting position if she could.

How could Fu Juan dare to do that, and the glares directed at her by the rest of the family? It was joy possible, so she took Laying’s hand and went to sit on the empty seats opposite grandfather Fu.

Fu Juan sat directly opposite her father, while Lanying sat on YingPei’s sitting position, but n.o.body said anything to her. It would be unreasonable to chase her away when YingPei was absent.

After taking a seat, Fu Juan glanced around and finally realized that YingPei was absent. “It looks like YingPei is absent, but I will still introduce my daughter to you first.”

Then she smiled a little and introduced then to Lanying. “Everyone meet my adoptive daughter, Lanying. Laying, meet my family. Although one of your cousins is absent, you will meet him when he returns.”

Lanying dared not smile because of how cold the atmosphere was. She could feel the tension in the air, but she still had to greet and introduce herself. There was no response from anyone, which was not so surprising.

Fu Juan Benton to say, “I will introduce them one after the other so you can greet them properly after dinner. The man sitting on the head seat is my father. He is the Head of the entire Fu family. I told you before that he served in the…”

There was a sudden silence after Fu Lei just hit his hand on the table in anger. Fu Juan flinched in shock as she didn’t expect to be interrupted that way.

”Brother!” She called out with visible annoyance on her face.

”Why are you calling him? On what grounds should you be introducing us to that young lady beside you? Shouldn’t you have acted sensibly by eating silently and getting out of our sight!” Fu Geming lashed out angrily.

He too has been holding his anger from the onset, but his Sister’s provocation was too much to bear, and he couldn’t help las.h.i.+ng out at her.

”Seriously, this treatment is unfair, can’t we talk about it after a peaceful dinner?” Fu Juan requested. She has seen how angry her brothers were, and she didn’t dare to continue with her tactics.

”You are the one threatening to bring disorder.” Grandfather Fu spoke calmly.

Lanying felt very bad within her and bowed her head as her eyes became teary. She felt humiliated by the Fu family’s treatment on her, and her mother, and couldn’t help but break down in tears.

Fu Juan felt something p.r.i.c.k her heart, and she couldn’t help trying to comfort her daughter, Lanying ended up apologizing and trying to walk away, but instead, she got scolded by Fu Hee.

”Hey! Where do you think you are going to? How dare you walk out on us?!”

Lanying paused in her steps, apologized and went back to her seat, and tried to wipe her never-ending tears.

Fu Juan couldn’t sit tight and watch her daughter cry, so she protested immediately. She fumed and said to Fu Fee, “Is my daughter not allowed to vent her emotions? How could you be so mean to her?!”

Fu ChuHua scoffed and said, “If walking out on us is a way she can vent her emotion, she is free to do that but not in this house, and this family.”
