Raphael saw Rowena's discomfort and immediately smiled apologetically to King Draco to reject his 'kindness'.

"Your Majesty, thank you so much for your understanding and kindness, but I think we are good now and..." He turned to the side because Rowena tugged his s.h.i.+rt. She shook her head faintly and her eyes told him not to refuse. Her mixed signal confused him a little bit but Raphael immediately nodded and turned back to King Draco. "We are grateful and will take your kind offer."

"Very well, have a good night's sleep, you two," King Draco waved at them and bid the couple good night. He chuckled to himself when Rowena and Raphael left. He knew they wouldn't sleep so soon. They were young and l.u.s.tful. After experiencing the joy of s.e.x, they would want to get more.

This time, he didn't even need to use an aphrodisiac. 

"Oh, Minerva," he muttered to himself. "Finally, I will get to see you again. After all this time."

Minerva was one of the earth G.o.ddesses. She helped Draco Roseland when he was injured while doing one of the tasks. Meeting her and feeling her touch was the highlight of Draco's life. He didn't regret failing the tournament to G.o.dhood because he got to meet her.

However, failing also meant he didn't get to stay in Cretea to keep seeing her and finally courting her. He was not worthy of a G.o.ddess like Minerva. It was heartbreaking when he had to leave for the mortal realm. He was no longer the same man after he left his heart in Cretea.

Maybe that's why he became ruthless and loveless. He couldn't love anyone, even himself. All he wanted to do was return to Cretea and see her again. Gosh... she must not expect that her help that one time left such a deep mark on a man. She might not even remember who he was.

Sometimes Draco felt like a pathetic man, for wanting someone out of his reach. However, the heart wants what it wants.

He had tried to forget her. It's been twenty years. However, he could never remove her from his mind. This sounded crazy, but his obsession grew even stronger after he realized that there was a way for him to return to Cretea.

It was a slim chance, but he thought he got nothing to lose and everything to gain. And his gamble and effort paid off. His beautiful and perfect daughter paved the way for him to return. He would get his heart back and confess his love for Minerva.

And then he could finally die in peace.

Rowena and Raphael were surprised when they saw Rowena's chamber was decorated with beautiful fresh flowers and the sheet was replaced with a new one with extra ruffles. Everything looked so much more beautiful than usual.

They exchanged glances in confusion. This felt like a wedding chamber for a bride and groom to spend their first consummation.

Rowena coughed violently and looked away from the bed. There were rose petals on it. They looked really elegant and beautiful, but the context made her embarra.s.sed. How could her father do such a thing, she couldn't fathom.

It was really over the top.

"Your Highness, I hope you don't mind, your father asked us to decorate your room and we came up with the flowers and rose petals," the butler spoke with an apologetic tone. "It lo

oked beautiful at first, but now, upon seeing it again, I realize they are a bit over the top."

He immediately saw the discomfort on the princess' face and realized that the decoration might be too much at this stage. They were not newlyweds and this was not a honeymoon night. So, he did damage control and quickly apologized.

"No worries, Chi," Rowena spoke with a very low voice. "You can leave now."

"Let me know if you need me to take out anything, Your Highness," the butler said.

"All good, don't worry about it."

Rowena watched as the butler left and closed the door behind him. She didn't dare look at Raphael's face. She must look very embarra.s.sed at this point, but she pretended to be cool and took out the rose petals from the bed and tossed them to the floor.

"How can people sleep in this," she muttered.

Raphael chuckled when he saw her trying to clean up the bed from flowers. He came to her and touched her shoulder. "May I?"

Rowena turned to him and furrowed her brows. "What do you want to do?"

Raphael shrugged. "Helping you."

He waved his hand and a gust of wind came from nowhere, swirling the rose petals in a small typhoon. They were dancing in the air and moved elegantly to the corner of the room. Soon, the bed was free of any flowers.

Rowena's eyes widened when she saw what he did. Raphael made everything look so easy.

"Is that... magic?" she asked him.

The man nodded. "Yes."

"There is no magic in our realm," Rowena said. "I've only heard stories about it. Never expected that someday I would see magic with my own eyes." 

"Well, you have witnessed magic several times," Raphael replied. "When you went to the Merfolk realm, they use low-level magic there. And perhaps, you see some too in the Elven realm."

Rowena nodded. "Yeah."

She looked at him intently, remembering the moment when he caught her in the air after she fell from the tower in Verona, and then, the next thing she knew, she was back in her old hut. 

"Where does magic come from?" Rowena asked Raphael.

"I am not sure how to answer that question," Raphael replied. "The source of magic is still a mystery, even to us, but we do have magic in abundance. We have low-level magic to high-level magic. Everyone in Cretea is born with the ability to wield magic, and we can learn it to become more proficient in certain types of magic."

"Learn it? Do you mean like going to school or something?"

"You can say that, but it's a bit different for us," Raphael smiled broadly. "I can't wait to show you my home. You can see for yourself how we live surrounded by magic."
