Chapter 1317: Past Events
After half an hour, a yellow light appeared in a small forest west of Guang Han City. Then, the middle-aged man in a yellow robe emerged.
He appeared and looked around for a while. After finding no signs of being followed, he heaved a sigh of relief. He didn’t mind the dirt on the ground, sat cross-legged, and showed annoyance.
“Recently, it’s getting more and more frequent. It will appear once a month. If this continues, my soul will be consumed…” The middle-aged man in a yellow robe murmured in a faint voice.
The next moment, the middle-aged man was startled. He stood up and stared at the forest sharply.
“Who is it? Come out!”
“I mean no harm.” A flat voice came from outside the forest, then a middle-aged man in a green robe with a black face came out. It was Liu Ming in disguise.
“It’s you!?” The middle-aged man in a yellow robe remembered Liu Ming. His eyes flashed.
Liu Ming smiled slightly, stepped forward a few steps, and stood before the middle-aged man in a yellow robe.
“Why are you following me? What do you want?” The middle-aged man in a yellow robe emanated a faint black air.
“Relax, I don’t mean any harm. The reason why I came here is to confirm one thing.” Seeing this, Liu Ming took a step back, raised his hand to show his innocence, and said.
Hearing this, the middle-aged man in a yellow robe’s stern expression eased slightly, but he still looked at Liu Ming with hostility.
“Did you come from the Middle Sky Continent?” Liu Ming stared at the person resembling Sha Chuer and asked slowly.
“What do you mean by that?”
Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man in a yellow robe was astounded.
“Hehe, it seems my guess is correct, so is your surname Ouyang?” Liu Ming saw the change in the expression of the middle-aged man in a yellow robe. Then, he confirmed his doubt even more.
“You know me!?” The middle-aged man in a yellow robe narrowed his eyes. The black light on his body became more and more intense. A killing intent flashed in his eyes.
“Your name is Ouyang Ming! You don’t have to worry. I’m also from the Middle Sky Continent, and I’ve heard about you from the Ouyang Family.” Liu Ming turned a blind eye to the murderous intent of the middle-aged man in a yellow robe, and he continued to say smilingly.
“You’re from the Middle Sky Continent? Hmph! Don’t try to deceive me. The demonic qi you carry is so pure, surpa.s.sing even some demons with pure bloodlines!” The middle-aged man in a yellow robe was shocked when he heard Liu Ming’s words, then he said in disbelief.
“I have simply encountered some fortuitous opportunities, resulting in a higher purity of demonic qi. However, I am not the only one with such capabilities.” Liu Ming stared at Ouyang Ming. He spoke with a half-smile.
The middle-aged man in a yellow robe snorted without speaking.
“I just want to ask you. Are you really Ouyang Ming?” Liu Ming stared intently and continued to ask.
“Why are you asking this? Do you have any relations.h.i.+p with the Ouyang Family?” The middle-aged man in a yellow robe asked calmly.
“Ouyang Family has nothing to do with me. I’m just asking for a friend surnamed Sha.” Liu Ming said lightly.
Ouyang Ming’s body trembled, and the black light on his body shook.
“When I was in Middle Sky Continent, I once met a girl named Sha Chuer in the land of southern wilderness. I heard that she was looking for a person named Ouyang Ming. It is said that the person is her father, but she has never seen her father since childhood.” Liu Mingyu said softly.
After Ouyang Ming heard it, a look of excitement appeared. His hands trembled, and his initially firm eyes became slightly watery.
Liu Ming had a strange expression after seeing the expression of the middle-aged man in a yellow robe.
Since entering the cultivation world, Liu Ming had become a stranger to family affection. Seeing Ouyang Ming’s expression at this moment, he felt a sense of bitterness.
He exhaled lightly, slightly calming down the fluctuations in his emotions.
Ouyang Ming quickly calmed down his turbulent mood too. After lowering his head and thinking briefly, he cupped his fist to Liu Ming, “Thank you for telling me about my little girl. I’m Ouyang Ming. May I know your name?”
“My name is Liu Ming. I used to be a disciple of the Middle Sky Continent Taiqing Sect. Decades ago, I accidentally ended up in the Thousands Demons Continent.” Liu Ming was surprised and cupped his fist solemnly.
“It turns out to be Mr. Liu. Please don’t take offense for my actions just now.” Ouyang Ming said apologetically.
“Mr. Ouyang doesn’t have to mind it. I would do the same in your shoes. However, this is not a place to talk. How about we chat in another place?” Liu Ming looked around and said.
“That works for me.” Ouyang Ming had a lot to ask Liu Ming, so he agreed readily.
The two quickly left the forest. They arrived at a tea house, getting a quiet private room.
When the servant who served the tea left, Ouyang Ming waved his hand and cast a layer of the soundproof barrier. Then, he asked impatiently, “Mr. Liu, may I ask how my little girl Sha Chuer is doing?”
“The last time Miss Sha and I met was over a hundred years ago. At that time, she had advanced to the Crystallization Period and worked under the Southern Puppet Emperor. The emperor favored her. I think she should be doing well now.” After Liu Ming thought about it, he said so.
“Have you heard her mention her mother?” Ouyang Ming asked nervously.
Liu Ming glanced at Ouyang Ming and said in a low voice, “Sha Chuer’s mother, as a member of the Sand Clan, has already exhausted her lifespan and pa.s.sed away.”
Hearing this, Ouyang Ming’s body shook suddenly, and his face turned pale.
There was a trace of pity in Liu Ming’s eyes. However, he didn’t know what to say to comfort him, so he could only lower his head to drink the tea.
After a long time, Ouyang Ming’s complexion looked a little better.
“Mr. Ouyang, such is life. Even if we are cultivators, our lifespan is not endless. There will always be a day when it runs out. Don’t be too saddened by it.” Liu Ming racked his brain and came up with these comforting words.
“What Mr. Liu said is true. Although I’m a Celestial State cultivator, maybe I will die for some reason tomorrow.” Ouyang Ming showed a trace of pain on his face as he showed a bitter smile.
“You’re in your prime. Why are you saying such pessimistic words? Could it be because of the demon soul in your body?” Liu Ming said calmly with a flash of his eyes.
Hearing this, Ouyang Ming was in great shock. He stood abruptly, fixed his eyes on Liu Ming, and said.
“How do you know what’s going on in my body?”
“Mr. Ouyang, calm down. My cultivation technique grants me a keen perception of soul. I have seen people like you before. I saw you fighting in Emerald Bamboo House, which allowed me to peek at your condition.” Liu Ming said smilingly.
Ouyang Ming looked at Liu Ming, sat down, and said with a wry smile after a while.
“Mr. Liu, is right. Yes, there is another soul in my body, posing a hidden danger.”
“If you trust me, maybe I can help.” Liu Ming picked up the cup, took a sip of tea, and said.
“Really? Since you know about the demon soul, you should know its power. Do you have a solution?” Ouyang Ming was surprised. He simply couldn’t believe it.
“Mr. Ouyang, please tell me about the source of the demon soul in your body. I may not have any good solutions, but I have a friend who deeply researches the soul. He should be able to find a way.” Liu Ming laughed.
Hearing this, Ouyang Ming had a contemplative look on his face. After a while, he sighed and said.
“Since you told me about my wife and daughter, I’m grateful. If Mr. Liu wants to know, I will naturally tell you. Speaking of this matter, it goes back to when I met my wife hundreds of years ago. At that time, I went to the southern wilderness to perform a mission under Family Master’s order. However, I met pursuers. In a panic, I fled into an endless black desert.”
“This desert gave me a bad feeling, but I was seriously injured at that time. I couldn’t care less in order to escape.”
“As a result, the pursuers did not chase after me. I was quite happy at the time, but it turned out that this desert was strange. Not only was my cultivation suppressed in it, but my spiritual power could not be recovered. Most importantly, there was no turning back when I was in it. I could only go forward.”
“It wasn’t until later that I learned it was the rumored Odd Desert.” Ouyang Ming said slowly.
Hearing this, Liu Ming couldn’t help but smile wryly in his heart. Ouyang Ming’s experience was similar to when he entered the Odd Desert.
“As a result, it took me half a month to leave. I encountered several waves of sand beast attacks on the way. Due to the limited cultivation, my spirit stones were depleted quickly, and my injury was even more difficult to heal.”
“I knew in my heart that this was not a long-term solution. Finally, less than a month after I entered the Odd Desert, I encountered a large-scale siege by the sand beasts. Despite my old wounds resurfacing, I fought with all my strength and managed to slay every sand beast. However, my powers waned, and I collapsed. I thought I would meet my end there, but I found myself inside a tent when I woke up. Beside me stood a young girl with a white veil covering her face, looking at me with surprise and delight. That moment remains vivid in my memory… That girl was none other than Chu’er’s mother.” As Ouyang Ming spoke, a hint of nostalgia appeared on his face. His cold eyes showed a rare warmth.
Liu Ming didn’t speak and listened intently.
“Under her careful nursing, my injury was gradually healed. I married her because of that, and then we had Chu’er… However, I’m not from the Sha Clan. As time went on in the Odd Desert, my spiritual power depleted further. I couldn’t recover my cultivation, so I relied on the spiritual stones and elixirs I brought to sustain myself. It was a difficult situation, but those were the most unforgettable moments of my life… After spending over 2 years in the Odd Desert, I began experiencing frequent bouts of falling unconscious. The duration of these episodes kept getting longer. Strangely, during these unconscious states, I would suddenly change my personality… I only later realized another soul had somehow taken residence within me.” Ouyang Ming continued his narrative.
