Fortuitous meetings are incomprehensible. Intimacy and hostility, respect and contempt; seniors and juniors, superiors and subordinates; childhood friends and simple acquaintances; an invisible thread weaves to and fro, connecting individuals. The thin strand of acquaintances; the thick thread of close friends: a connection that was not, is instantly established, or so one might think, but strong bonds can be as suddenly cut. Such meetings and partings are the violent swirlings of an individual life; at times glad, at times sad, yet ever dramatic.
Watching as a bystander, I, on that day, noticed an apparition was near.
I heard a commotion on the day before my entrance ceremony. The time was 10:00AM, and I had indulged completely in my laziness. The visual novel I had been playing underwent an unexpected plot twist, and I had found myself enwrapped for the entire night.
My room on the second floor of my single family house granted me a view out my window of the people pa.s.sing by. I opened my curtains at the sound of the constant commotion from the other side.
“So they’re moving?” I muttered to myself.
It was a moving company I had seen advertised on prime time TV: White Dog Takeru. Uniformed workers were carrying luggage as they went in and out of the large, four ton truck. They struggled with great book shelves, furniture, and cardboard boxes that looked light at a glance -though they were likely packed with heavy manga or some other such things- as they carried out their difficult task. The house next door was a single family home too, and had been empty for about a month. Things seemed as though they would liven up with a new tenant moving in.
Well, not that it mattered.
Removing my eyes from the relay of luggage, I descended the stairs whilst vaguely considering my high school life that would start on the following day. I was hungry, and it was my final day of peace and tranquility.
Translator’s Note:
I have no idea if this story is going to be any good, but it seems promising enough, and it is also different enough from my current project to be a bit of a breath of fresh air. I’ll be experimenting with formatting to try and improve my efficiency. I still really don’t want to use posts, but I might try and figure out a way to get them to work.
For the moment this is a side-project without a schedule.
