Episode 1 – The beginning of a Journey

I open my eyes and embrace the morning. Right now I’ve been in this world for 2 weeks.
The fabric of the curtain appears bright as suns.h.i.+ne peek through its thin cloth.

I felt numbness in my left arm, and as I turn my line of sight, I see Yuela sleeping peacefully using my left arm as pillow. It’s rare that I woke up earlier.

Yuela rolled over turning her body sideway to my direction, I can see her lovely face.
Her white sleepwear made of cotton was opened, and the rich breast inside seems like it were about to fall.

I met Yuela two weeks ago, and I’ve been in her goodwill since our first meeting. So I confessed to Yuela and we’re going out now.

“Mmm…”

I turned my body towards Yuela and embrace her with my right arm, her body is soft and warm.
I slowly close my eyes as the heat of two people mix and melt into one

I decided to enjoy the comfortable morning sun a little bit more. After Yuela get up, it will finally start. The beginning of me and Yuela journey to the [Country of Freedom] to solve the [Curse of the G.o.ddess of Darkness]

The wind was blowing with a buzzing sound. I stopped walking on the highway road. In the middle of the wheat field, the hem of my thin coat was fluttering.

A few hundred buildings can be seen on the hill, ahead of this road that stretched straight. All in all, it can be considered a small city. I reflectively searched the pocket of my coat, and found nothing beside a crushed empty cigarette box

Yuela replied with gentle tone while setting her gaze forward, she held down her long black hair with one hand. it’s a very girly look and my favorite gesture.

That’s right, since I was summoned to this world, I haven’t seen any city yet

Yuela gave an unusual look with smile. That was bad, I can feel my cheeks getting hotter.

Yuela speaks like a man, and she gave off a cool impresion. Her facial expression is also scarce. So when she makes surprising face like this, it caught me off guard.

Seems like Yuela were used to such gaze and just pa.s.sed the gate gallantly.
However, she felt a bit frustated and turn her face away from the guard with pout.

“Yuela, is it normal for people to just enter city like this ? What about inspection and such to prevent suspicious person entering the city ?”

As I pa.s.sed the short tunnel behind the gate, I asked Yuela

“Oh, that’s because this is the [City of Commerce], Traveler are free to pa.s.s so we won’t be stopped by Guards”

“Huuum”

It seems different from the medieval knowledge I have, So the city is like this huh, it seems a village with less population was more troublesome

When I was summoned to this world, I met a person. He was a very kind man and taught me various things about this world. Well he isn’t simply kind person though.

I remembered the thing taught by him

Unlike the world I was born, this world only have one continent. There are 7 representative country and few small countries in this single continent. It looks like the seven state from the ancient chinese warring era.

From my point of view, this world is a crazy one. G.o.d exist as a fact in this world, each of the 7 representative country also has a name in line with the G.o.d they believe in nationally.

The one dominating the western corner side of the continent, [Country of Law]. They believe in G.o.d of Light and value Law, Order and Justice. Even though I haven’t visited it, but just hearing story about it makes me hate it.

Beside it, a country with the largest territory in this world, [Country of Magic]. They believe in G.o.d of Knowledge. They are old fas.h.i.+oned, hard-headed and have useless sense of pride. I may be visiting this country with Yuela someday.

On the east side, [Country of Freedom]. They believe in G.o.d of Darkness. But unlike the country of freedom in the world I was born, the one in here is a nation that’s faithful to their desire.

North of it, there was a small country, [Country of Peace], they believe in G.o.ddess of Love
And then in even more north, [Country of War], they believe in G.o.d of War. Way back In the south, [Country of Industry], they believe in G.o.d of Creation, and lastly in Southwest, the [Country of Commerce] that believes in G.o.d of Fortune

“Is there some countries that collect toll taxes in the gate ?”

“In the [Country of Law], there is toll tax when you move between cities.
Aside from [Country of Commerce] you need to pay toll tax when crossing the border.
There are also country and town where the inspection of the guards is strict”

Yuela said that last word with an annoyed expression, I wonder if she had bad memory with inspection guards.

“Freedom of movement, it really fits to be called [Country of Commerce] huh”

I guess the aim is to increase commercial activity by increasing the movements of merchants. I think I learned about this in the past since I graduated from Economy department.

“Drop this story already, let’s go”

Yuela cheeks was a little bit red, it seems she didn’t want to talk about this topic anymore.

As I walked through the street from the castle gate, I was lead to a busy market that spread out in front of me. This city might be small, but it feels like a central city in this region.

“Yuela, what should we do, it’s still early but would you like to have a dinner ?”

Yuela stopped and thought for a while

“Let’s look for adventurer guild and check the map. This is also my first time here”

Yuela said so while watching the surroundings. Right now the time is just before the evening. The market showed last bustle of the day and everyone was busy.

I don’t know the geography of this world nor the system properly. So I should leave this part to Yuela who is used to traveling.

Yuela answered with soft voice then start walking. I was surprised by the word adventurer guild, then along with Yuela we advanced to the main street where the number of people increased.

“Wow”

While walking through it, I saw lot of interesting sight. A warrior adventurer with human-like feature waltz through the crowd like cutting through wind. I inadvertently leaked out my voice.

“Yuela, that one, it’s a beast-man”

“Yes, that’s right”

Yuela smiles hearing my excited voice. There was also an onee-san with cat ears on her head, wearing chic s.h.i.+rt and skirt currently shopping for dinner. My eyes were glued to her.

“You said there are only human beings in the world you came from.”

“Yes, there are no elves, no dwarves, neither beastmen nor dragons”

This is a different world with RPG style. I will live together with Yuela in this world. When I think of such future, it feels really good. I think i can come to love this world.

Then, while sightseeing along the neighborhood, I noticed the eyes of many people.
Most of them was attracted to Yuela, but some of them also took a glimpse toward me.

I think they’re looking at me with curiosity because of the clothes I am wearing is rare to them.
An elegant deep blue indigo jeans that doesn’t exist in this world. Overall, I think I dressed quite nicely.

My clothes are the one I bought before I was summoned to this world. I was wearing a soft wool s.h.i.+rt, a deep green thin coat, and brown hunting boots.

Yuela is wearing a beautiful light blue Kimono, however her feet is wearing knitted boots.

Yuela’s occupation is a Swordsman, on her waist is Katana and Wakizas.h.i.+. When I first saw the figure of Yuela, the picture of a famous Shogun at the end of Tokugawa Shogunate comes to my mind.

Yuela is attracting attention not because j.a.panese clothes are rare. It’s also not because our clothes are tattered or dirty. All of them are looking simply because Yuela is overwhelmingly beautiful.

Yuela has a black hair, long enough to reach the b.u.t.tocks. The hair are moist, soft and pleasant to touch. Her front bangs are cut above the eyes.
she have a big eyes in tsurime shape where the outer corners slant upwards, combined with powerful gaze. Long eyelashes on a soft eyelid. A small lips with the color of sakura and well balance nose. It’s like her face is a perfectly designed doll.

Well, for a doll with small face. Her height is tall and the chest is really big.
Her shoulder width is quite narrow, and every time she walk, her melon-like breast shakes and bounces.

I looked at the men around me. As expected of a man, walking with cute girl on your side makes you proud inside.

Yuela is accustomed to being watched. She keeps a cool face and walks without worrying about the gazes of men. I’m sure, as a pretty girl, she is accustomed to other’s gaze since childhood.

“Yuela is popular in this town too”

The appearance of a tall beautiful girl who walks das.h.i.+ngly really stand outs. Also, the people in this world sure stare without hesitation.

Yuela said as a matter of fact. Yuela knows that her face beautiful and regards it as one of her strengths. That’s why, you can say she’s good

I have never seen beautiful girl or handsome boys unconscious of their appearance. They might be humble, but they got hold of their charm properly. Someone who never take a note about their own face can only be called foolish.

“If it’s face, you too…”

Yuela said that and gazed at me briefly. The flesh in her thin cheeks are dyed red.

“Um…, really…cool”

Yuela said shyly, and I was a bit embarra.s.sed too. It makes me happy. While I can’t believe it, Yuela said she fell in love with me at first sight. Someone said love is like electric shock.
It seems that when she first saw me, she couldn’t move as if she was struck by lightning. And then without any reason, she fell deep in love with me.

I too, cannot forget the day I met Yuela. That was quite a terrible experience. Well to be precise I met Yuela and one other person. But I was quite blown off by the surprises of being summoned to another world.

While Yuela murmured so, I turn my eyes to the surrounding building. All of the buildings are made of stone. It gives off the feeling of old town in Europe
A lot of street stalls stood in the s.p.a.ce in front of the building, dealing with various items.
Vegetable and fruits are piled up like mountains, and hanging in the back are meat and ribs.
It was a rare scene that couldn’t be seen in the country I was born from. It looks like foreign market, with exception that sometimes peddlers casually bring weapon to the stores.
If the circ.u.mstances are different, I might think I’m dreaming.

“I’m going to ask the way to this city adventurer guild”

I looked back to the voice of Yuela, She stopped walking and asking the local youth for a way, she is very active.

“Eeeh! Yes….uh…”

The young man was in panic after being approached suddenly by pretty girl like Yuela. I bet he was really surprised.

“Oh, adventurer guild. You should go straight ahead, and on the first big crossroad go right”

The young man answered Yuela with daze

“Thanks, sorry for disturbing you”
Yuela answered the young man and walked back

“I knew the location of the guild”
With happy expression, Yuela lined beside me again

“Thanks for the trouble”

Prompted by Yuela, we started walking to the direction pointed by the young man.

As Yuela teaches me, I thought it’s a good design that easily convey messages

We opened the door of the adventurer guild and walked inside. On the front is an L-shaped counter, and on the large s.p.a.ce behind there are several large tables with adventurers relaxing on it”

I got the impression of a bar. And after looking closely, there is a staircase leading to the second floor near the counter, surely it must be the Inn. This is really the staple of RPG, an Adventurer Guild.

Yuela continued without regards, the old man then silently took a map from the shelf behind the counter

The old man threw a map on the counter. This old man is really unfriendly, I don’t like his arrogant att.i.tude

Yuela confirmed the prices and immediately paid the money, it seems that last word was aimed at me. Maybe I have a terrible look in my face.

The money in this world are just coins. There are only four type, copper, silver, white gold and gold. There are no Bank notes It’s easy to remember so I chose to not mind the fine detail.

I don’t understand the price yet, but for convenience, I a.s.sume the conversion is as follow. Copper coin = 100 yen, silver coin = 1000 yen, white gold coin = 10,000 yen, gold coin = 100,000 yen. So this map is 2,000 yen. I guess it’s acceptable.

“Should we look at the map right now ?”

“Sure”
Yuela nodded on my proposal, we ordered drink for two people and sit on empty table.

“Hoo”

I let out a voice of admiration, the map was quite detailed complete with contours and signs. This world has developed magic technology, so I guess such a high precision map is normal”

“We are in this city right now, and from here we’re heading towards [Country of Industry]”
Yuela pointed to a point on the map, and look at my face. Her information sharing is done neatly.

“The [Country of Freedom] is far away huh”
“That’s right”

Me and Yuela have a purpose, our travelling purpose is to reach the [Country of Freedom] at the end of the east. If we go east from our current position [Country of Commerce], we will reach [Country of Industry], and if we cross the border to the east again, we will reach [Country of Freedom]

“Which way to use is the question”
Yuela said so, and I leaned to take a closer look at the map

1. Take the north route, which then will go straight to east.
2. Go down south from this town into a big city, then south east from there.
Two routes were considered

“What’s on the route around the north ?”
I asked Yuela

Yuela quickly ask me about my hometown. Both of us have lot of time to talk now.

I answered so while sipping the c.o.c.ktail I ordered

Yuela quicky emptied her amber colored drink. She is as strong as ever, it’s still too early for me to follow this drinking pace.
I corrected my story and start over again.

I answered while drinking more alcohol. I vomited all the time when I was a student, but after being a part of society for two years, I can drink normally now

“A big bear was chasing a hound dog in the slopes of mountain. It was a dangerous scene, so I tried attracting it while using the trees in front of me as a s.h.i.+eld…-”
Then I told Yuela various things about myself. After I came to this world, this is probably the first time we talked this much. Yuela seems to be happy with it, if you ask her, she will definitely said it was a fun time.
