Episode 37 – Capital of [Country of Industry] – Morning

The room's thick door is opening without making any sound. I'm watching the scene quietly while sitting on top of a chair acting as if I'm an important person. The light from the corridor is seeping into the room's dark interior and began to brightly illuminate the entrance side.

A big guy is standing at the entrance. Since the light from the corridor is acting as a backlight, only his black silhouette can be seen from my direction. The guy is humming like a fool while carrying a big bag on his right hand.

While turning his hum into a tune, the guy turned his back toward me and began to close the door of the room. This guy doesn't notice me at all, I wonder if I should greet him already or surprise him instead.

I'm currently behaving very rudely, I'm sitting on a chair with both of my legs raised and rested on top of a desk. I start to float my right leg higher to the air, and then I slammed my heel downward strongly. The wooden desk immediately let out a loud sound against the heel of my boot.

The guy shouted loudly, also, I saw how both of his feet took off from the ground in surprise followed with him landing on his a.s.s first. This guy is as cowardly as ever.

He's groaning with his back lying on the floor, both of his hands are raised in front of his chest with the palm facing upward. His unsightly figure looks exactly like a dog showing its submission.

A smirk escapes my lips. I think laughing at people that you surprised yourself is awful, but I can't help myself this time. The sight of such over the top reaction is making me lose my cool.
“Who? Is someone there……?”
It seems he noticed my voice. He twisted his body around and raised his upper body by pus.h.i.+ng his hands against the floor.

Instead of answering, I took out a rolled cigarette from my pocket and put it between my lips. After scratching the matchstick to light it up, I could sense my face being illuminated by the fire for a short moment.

I couldn't see his expression because it's covered by a shadow from the backlight, but he seems to have gasped for a breath.
“Yo. It's been a while, Kantarou”
And then I said so while smiling thinly.

“Gun-chan……, is that you Gun-chan……?”
Kantarou called out to me, joy and surprise is mixed within his voice.
“Correct Kantarou”
I nodded while answering him, and then I inhaled the cigarette deeply. I haven't smoked much today, so the burning tobacco taste awfully good. It's making my head feel drowsy and melting somehow.

I apologized honestly toward the complaining Kantarou. I never expected him to be surprised to such extent.

Kantarou replied to my question with a frown. It seems I really scared him for good earlier.

Kantarou stood up slowly, so much that it looked like slow motion.
“Sorry Kantarou, can you turn on the lights already? There's no lamp inside this room”
I requested him to bring up the light. I finally have chance to see Kantarou after a long time, so I want to talk while looking at each other's face.
“……Gun-chan, you've been staying in this dark room to wait for me?”
“That's right”
Kantarou asked with a tone of disbelief, however I answered him back lightly.
“I have some stuff that I want to think about, so it's kind of a nice timing. My private time is somewhat precious after all.
I barely have any time that I can spend by myself. I think I always spent my day with any of my girlfriends. Of course I didn't dislike it or anything, in fact I was really happy, however having some time alone like this sometimes is not so bad either.

The inside of the room immediately turned bright following Kantarou's voice. I furrowed my brow unconsciously, it's too dazzling to my eyes that were used to the dark.

I looked up at the ceiling and said that. There are several crystal b.a.l.l.s that gives off bright light buried on the ceiling. It looks similar to electricity-powered light bulb from the world where I was born from.

Kantarou is giving me explanation enthusiastically. He seems to be happy and can't hold himself back from telling me about how he had this contraption installed in his place.

Before I was summoned into this world, the married people around me often use yome to describe the wife. I never heard people used nyoubou or kanai, but I think those are good words.

Kantarou's voice gradually became smaller and disappeared completely after a while.

It's like the city of art in the world I was born from. There's a river that divides the city into two too, but the big difference is that this place also have a lake. It seems the river is flowing from that lake.
Moreover, the lake also has a sandy beach-like place that the citizens can use for relaxation. If I have time, I should go there and see it. Swimming in a sandy beach with my girlfriends doesn't sound like a bad idea, and I can see their swimsuit figure too that way.

That was Kerebryl's voice. I turned my face to the back.
“Thanks for waiting”
Kerebryl walked to my side through the castle gate. It seems the one who talked to Kerebryl earlier is the guard at the gate.
“They sure took your time”
There are four castle gates in the capital of [Country of Industry] where travelers can pay their tolls. During that time, Yuela and Kerebryl were taken to a separate room. I want them to tell me what happened.

I asked that. Both of them went to the separate room together, but only Kerebryl came out first.

With upturned eyes, Yuela kept staring at me for a while.

When I called her name, Yuela turned her face away swiftly.

Yuela said that and clung to my arms like it was a natural action for her. She then proceeds to pull my body closer to her with a strong force.
