Ch 3.2 – Hungry

Outside the room, the thirty year old maid was still waiting for him and led him back to his room.

As Meng Ting reached the door, he heard the maid's footsteps stop. Turning around he saw her take the same position as before. The sullen atmosphere had returned once again. Sighing in his heart, Meng Ting entered the room and shut the door behind him.

Once again Meng Ting's mind wandered to his hungry stomach. He would do his best to endure this but it felt like he had never been this hungry before in his life.

This was actually all due to Meng Zhong's negligence. The house applied outdated rules that don't tolerate tardiness when it comes to meal time.  At the very least Meng Zhong should have mentioned the basic rules of the household; however he felt the job beneath him. Meng Ting considered if he had been told anything but in the time they were together, Meng Zhong hadn't said much.

However Meng Zhong couldn't have expected that this blunder of his would have transformed into Meng family starving him on purpose in Meng Ting's mind.

Of course this wasn't strange according to Meng Ting's logic. Back when he had been "useful", he hadn't received a single morsel of good will. Now that he was a "waste", it was normal to be hungry and neglected. This logic wasn't something that Meng Ting had developed; it was a logic that his grandmother had drilled into him.

The next morning at half past five, Meng Ting woke up early and decided to go for a run. Rummaging through the heap of new clothes, he found some sportswear and headed out the door. Looking around, he couldn't see the maid from yesterday, so he headed down the stairs. There he saw a large man who looked like a bodyguard, perhaps one of the security personnel that guarded the mansion. The man bowed to Meng Ting.

"I'm going running."

In the jail like high school where Meng ting had spent three years, every morning both men and women must run ten or more laps around the gymnasium. Those who did not were provided with poor food throughout the day. In order to be able to eat enough, Meng ting had always run the most.

In his previous life when he left the high school, he subconsciously began to filter out everything that he had done there. After a year of running in the university, he did not run again. This was especially true at the experimental base. He had always felt over worked, part of it was the Meng family's fault, and part of it was his own negligence.

Now that he was back at the Meng family, he did not want to live like he had before. He was lacked too much confidence to go and demand food or an explanation from Meng lao furen, so for the mean time he would just sweat himself out.

The man opened the way and Meng Ting walked out to the flower bed in front of the house. He began to run along the trail. The Meng estate was very large. Next to the flower garden there was a grove.

Meng Ting ran the outermost track and returned back to the house an hour later after he had run ten laps.

He went back to his room and took a bath. He put on a fresh pair of white s.h.i.+rt and jeans and headed downstairs. With his instinct as a rice barrel, he found the kitchen. The people in the kitchen weren't too bad. One of the maids pointed towards the side of the table.

"There are sandwiches and milk, you take them."

Both the Meng household and the Old Master woke up early in the morning. The few chefs were always quiet busy at this time.

Meng Ting left the kitchen with two sandwiches and two bottles of milk. He returned to his room and ate one of the sandwiches and left the other for lunch. Then there should be plenty of food at dinner.

At this point Meng Ting's eyes were glowing bright green. (I have no idea what this means.)

Uncle Wen came soon after he finished eating breakfast. This time he didn't come just by himself, but brought a whole team of people. Meng Ting was once again tossed from here to there as they prepared him for the banquet.

At about five o'clock in the afternoon, Meng Ting was told to head downstairs. Feng Ze Jiao waited in the car. The banquet was held by people from the Gu family, her relatives, for a birthday. Not only will she and Meng Ting go from the old manor, but so will her eldest son.

Meng lao yezi was also Meng Ting's grandfather, however Meng Ting had been born on the other side, like that woman Li Yi Fei. Meng Ting was an illegitimate son who had been raised outside the house his whole life. In order to push the marriage through without hitch, she had to make a bridge between this side and that side.

Feng Ze Jiao glanced at Meng Ting. He wore a delicate and exquisite suit, however it couldn't compare to his exquisite looks. She thought about it for a while. It really wasn't that big of a surprise, if Meng Ting's mother was really that beautiful, it would explain why Meng Yi De had rebelled to demand a divorce from his wife.

Only the eldest son of the Meng family, Meng Yi Hang was her son. The other two were the children of that woman Li Yi Fei. She had endured these many years and maintained this "peace" for only one reason. The Old Master had promised her that the position of family head would belong to her son.

The words of men were but wind. Already, Feng Ze Jiao had lost all trust in that man's words.

As for Yan family, this giant, they naturally had to be roped onto her side. Were it not for He Wan's strange requirements, she had intended to marry off one of her own grandchildren. This way she would have obtained the position of the mother of owner of the house.

It had been silent for a while, meng Ting finally looked towards Feng Ze Jiao, "Do you have something on your mind?"

Feng Ze Jiao recovered her thoughts as she heard him speak. She laughed, "In a while I'll take you to meet your uncle and his family. You don't have to be nervous, they are family."

"Okay," Meng Ting nodded, feeling nervous only due to this strange event. Otherwise, he didn't care about the other things.

Meng Ting spoke few words but he was still obedient. Feng Ze Jiao couldn't find anything to be dissatisfied about She had brought the boy to the party not only to win him over but also to let Li Yi Fei know that the boy was now on her side.

Of course, if it weren't for He Wan fancying him, they couldn't have cared less if he left the country.

They reached the location at six o'clock. Getting off the car, Meng Ting's eyes were bombarded by the glimmering courtyard. Once again, Meng Ting felt tension rise inside his body. Unknown to him, the intention to eat with which he had come would be quiet hard to fulfill. There weren't many things for him to eat here.

In his confusion, Meng Ting was pulled by Feng Ze Jiao towards the Gu Jia courtyard where the banquet was to take place.
