Ji Bai & Xu Xu Short Story Part 2.1

It was early summer and the weather was gradually getting warmer. Xu Xu was about to deliver the child, and had been admitted to a private maternity hospital. Her father was almost always with her; Xu Jun and Ji Bai were also taking turns to keep a 24-hour vigil in the hospital.

Xu Xu has a narrow pelvis, but the baby's head was not big. So the doctor decided that she could opt for a normal delivery, but it would be tough.

Xu Xu was naturally not afraid. She would work hard!

The day after she was admitted to the hospital, in the middle of the night, the room was quiet, as everyone had fallen asleep.

Suddenly, Xu Xu was awakened by a series of severe contractions.

Ji Bai was leaning against the bedside sofa, sleeping calmly, his face fatigued. She didn't rush to wake him up. Instead, she looked at the clock on the wall and endured the pain as she calmly counted the number of contractions. Only a particular frequency of contractions would signify that the time had come.

After noting the frequency of contractions for a while, and when she felt it was time, she gently patted Ji Bai's head, "Husband, wake up, the baby is coming."

Ji Bai opened his eyes and was still a bit dazed. Then in the next second, he quickly sat up.

The doctor and nurses came soon. After they examined Xu Xu, she was pushed into the delivery room.

Only one family member could accompany the patient during the birthing process. Hearing the news, Xu Xu's father and Xu Jun came and stood outside. As Xu Xu was pushed into the delivery room, she smiled when she saw the anxious faces of the two men. "Don't worry, it will take a while. You don't have to wait here. Go to the ward and rest. When she finished speaking , the doctor and nurses nearby laughed. The father and brother were both distressed and amused. The head nurse said, " Mrs. Ji's att.i.tude is good. There should be no problem."

Panting, Xu Xu angrily gasped, "Why should I shout? I won't feel any better, it is a waste of energy."

Ji Bai said, "Should I kiss you?"

Xu Xu said, "Don't make me laugh! I'm holding my breath."

As the crisp cry of the baby rang out, Xu Xu relaxed from head to toe, and she exhaled deeply.

The nurse cleaned up the baby and wrapped it well. Ji Bai carefully took the baby and his eyes actually teared up.

He brought the baby to Xu Xu. Her short hair was soaked in sweat. As she looked at the child, her face remained calm and finally a tired and gentle smile lit up her face.

Ji Bai hugged her and the baby together with the crook of his arm as he softly said, "Indeed, my wife gives birth to beautiful children."

It wasn't just beautiful; it was extremely beautiful. It only made him feel, With a wife like this, what more could he ask for

Xu Xu and the baby were taken back to the ward. After a while, she finally fell asleep.

She woke up at the first glimmer of dawn outside the window. She turned around and saw the baby was still sleeping soundly by the side of the bed. The three adult men didn't seem sleepy at all. They were standing around the crib, talking in whispers.

Xu Jun said, "This child actually looks more like me."

Mr. Xu carefully examined the child's features, pondered for a moment, and then commented, "He's not like you, he has a stronger heroic spirit, like Ji Bai."

Xu Jun said, "He is so tiny, and you can already tell he has a heroic spirit?"

Ji Bai laughed without a word.

The people who win in life, laugh when they should, and do not speak when it is imprudent.

Xu Xu also laughed. Ji Bai looked up and saw she had awoken. He walked over to her side quickly, held her hand and asked, "Are you hungry? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"

"No." She looked at Ji Bai and Xu Jun. One was delicate and pretty while the other was brave and bright. Then she looked at the baby. She didn't know if she had been influenced by what father said, but when she looked at the baby's jet black brows and eyes, she could really feel he had a heroic aura, similar to Ji Bai.

The three men were all persistent on having Xu Xu stay in the hospital for a longer period of time. Of course, Xu Xu was fine with anything.

At night, besides the private nurse, Xiao Liu, Ji Bai and Xu Jun were taking turns to keep watch. Xu Jun was there on the third night. In the middle of the night, when Xu Xu was awakened by the baby's crying, she saw Xu Jun holding the baby and soothing it.

It was more than half an hour later when the baby fell asleep once again. Neither brother nor sister was sleepy. They whispered for a while. When Xu Xu yawned, Xu Jun rubbed her head and said, "Ok, go to sleep now."

Xu Xu nodded, lowered her head and closed her eyes for a moment. After a while, she opened her eyes again and saw Xu Jun sitting in the same place, looking at the baby's cot. His eyebrows were lifted and his smile was full.

"If you like children so much, you should have some of your own," said Xu Xu slowly. "You should also find a girlfriend."

Xu Jun lay down on the sofa, wrapped a quilt around himself and carelessly answered, "I'm looking for one right now. Hurry up and go to sleep now. Good night!"
