Chapter 26.1 - His probing

Lou Lianxin jumped as she hurriedly turned her head around like a shocked rat, and fled away.

Behind her, Xiahhou Liuyun couldn’t help but break into guffaws as he watched her, “Hahaha, second brother, I can’t. Did you see her, I’m going to die of laughter! It’s obvious that she hates us to death but because she’s wary of our status, she can only suck in her anger. Her face was already choked up like a palette, hahaha!

Right now, she’s definitely yelling at us inside, thinking that we’re helping Lou Qingwu because we think she’s pretty. She definitely thinks that her legitimate sister used her face to seduce her … but even with a hundred other reasons, she’d never think that she herself is the reason! Hahaha!”

Lou Qingwu silently looked at them, making herself invisible to them.

Xiahou Rui coldly looked at him but didn’t say anything, his dark eyes wandered and fell upon Lou Qingwu before deepening and bring about a hint of probing.

He wanted to know how this girl would react to receiving the deep appreciation of two princes.

Xiahou Liuyun’s mind was beginning to wander and come up with nonsense but the girl in front of him was still expressionless, as if the people standing in front of her were just ordinary citizens.

She bowed as she finished speaking, then walked straight past them … .

“Ah?” Xiahou Liuyun froze and didn’t react until Lou Qingwu had walked about ten or so steps away.

That was it?

Where was the overwhelming grat.i.tude, overwhelming joy, the little startled deer that he wanted?

She just said “thank you”, those two words and that was it?

Xiahou Rui swept an eye at his clothes, disdainfully stretched out a finger and poked Xiahou Rui’s forehead and pushed him away.

He apathetically brushed away at some imaginary dust on his clothes, calmly speaking, “You’ve already finished watching the play, so we can enter the palace now.”

Following that girl’s personality, saying even thank you was hard for her.

He believed that even if seventh little brother didn’t step in to help, that girl would definitely be able to slip away from danger easily.

It was as if she had already planned everything and faced danger calmly.

This was a feeling that he got from watching the scene at the Lou residence.

“Second brother, you don’t care about me at all!” He didn’t even finish watching all that drama, he definitely wasn’t satisfied!

Xiahou Liuyun rubbed the back of his head as he unhappily shouted.

Xiahou Rui didn’t bother with him and headed forward.

But he only took two steps before he stopped.

His eyes chased Lou Qingwu’s silhouette as his eyes darkened, some type of emotion began to form in the depth of his eyes before slowly disappearing back to normal.

Lou Qingwu walked from the Vermillion Bird gate to enter the palace.

The palace was filled with glazed tiles, walled with them as the palace towered over her.

She looked at this familiar yet unfamiliar palace hall, her eyes becoming increasingly cold.

When Xiahou Liuyun makes little noises as he chews on Xiahou Rui’s s.h.i.+rt, in Chinese it’s “嘤嘤嘤嘤” (ying) which is directly translated to what birds would call out. So just read it as ‘ying ying ying ying’ or some other little noise because he’s trying to be cute.

And the t.i.tle means probing as in investigating but he's kind of just trying to get a feel of who LQW is as a person. She feels too mature to be a barely 15 year old which is fair because her spirit is that of like a 40 year old.
