Steward Han is momentarily surprised. To placate the young master, he says, “Xiaonainai is currently sleeping. She has been keeping you company while you were sleeping.”
Han Qilu looks at the butler and says, “Uncle Liu, I'm really a ba****d!”
The admission stuns the steward. Is it because of the head injury? Is there a muscle injury elsewhere? Why isn't he saying anything now? Before this?
Han Qilu doesn't say anything else about her. He owes her too much to write off her suffering by saying, “I almost recall my past.”
For now, he can't be too anxious. He has to take his time.
“Master, here's your mobile phone. It's fully charged.” Steward Han hands him the device and a pair of chopsticks at the same time.
Qilu asks, “Do I have missed calls?” He looks at the device and sees there are several, but all from one person- Xiang Mankuai.
“I'll excuse myself,” the steward says before he turns and exits the room.
It's time to end this! Han Qilu is quite determined that his fate with Mankuai is finished. If it wasn't for this stupid amnesia, their lives wouldn't have intersected.
Just before he depressed the call back b.u.t.ton, a call comes through his phone.
It is Han Liuhai.
“Dad.” There is no emotion to his words. Han Liuhai rarely calls him.
“I'm buying the Xiangja mansion. If you're going to interfere, I'd be imposing more demands on them.” Han Liuhai's voice is crystal clear through the line. “That woman is complex. Let me remind you, regardless of who you love, remember your ident.i.ty.”
Ident.i.ty.
“I won't interfere with you, dad, but isn't it childish to buy this old house when the family's already down?”
Han Liuhai pauses before saying, “Son, you're still too young. This is where we're building the mall. End your ridiculous love as soon as possible. I've still got a lot to do. I'll hang up first.” He has made his final decision. Han Qilu had broken up with Mankuai once, and changed his mind.
He wants to prove this woman is using his son.
Han Liuhai hangs up the phone and flashes her a patented smile before walking over to where Xiang Mankuai sits. “Time is running out. I'd suggest you sign the contract on your own accord rather than having me force your hand.”
Mankuai's reaction is not as restrained as their last meeting. “President Han, are you anxious to acquire our house because you want me to leave Qilu?”
Han Liuhai looks inscrutable. He smirks. “It's one of the reasons.”
“I'll sign the contract. After all, I'm not the older generation. I don't care about the family's survival.”
Liuhai is surprised he didn't have to convince her much. He readjusts himself on his seat before tapping his index finger on the table. “What are your conditions?”
“I want to be in Luo's new movie.” Mankuai looks at him, believing he would agree with her condition.
Luo Lao's a veteran in the film industry. It's believed that anyone who's cast in his films becomes a superstar worldwide.
She didn't return to China in time for her to audition for his current project. His leading lady has been cast, and she doesn't know when he'll start his next project.
She believes that Han Liuhai would be able to influence the casting of leading lady.
This woman's ambition is rather high. Han Liuhai ponders momentarily before looking at her. “I have to revise the contract. You know Luo Lao is not a nice person. He's kind of tricky.”
Xiang Mankuai curses him silently. This man is sly! How could Luo Lao not save Liuhai's face? He says the director is tricky, but he's manipulating the deal to reduce it's worth. How egotistical can this fox be?!
“Then I'll await to hear the news about the revision, one including a clause about Luo.” Xiang Mankuai stands up and smiles at him.
It isn't until Mankuai leaves that Liuhai disdainfully huffs through his nose.
He hears a knock on his door before a woman in a white professional suit walks in. Once she sees his expression, she restrains herself.
“President, this doc.u.ment needs your signature.” She hands him a folder carefully.
Han Liuhai glances at the doc.u.ment and signs it. “Call a meeting with the acquisitions department.”
“Okay.” The woman grabs the folder and walks out.
Once the door closes, he retrieves his cell phone and dials. “Help me get connected to Luo Lao.”

In the hospital, the nurses gather around a table discussing what they'll be having for lunch. The door to An Chuxia's ward suddenly opens and a middle-aged man and Jiang Yuan step out.
“You have your work cut out for you, teacher,” Jiang Yuan says, smiling.
“Miss Chuxia's talent, intelligence, and hard work helps. It's an honor to tutor her,” teacher Wen solemnly says before saying goodbye. The bodyguards by the elevator see him off.
When Jiang Yuan returns to An Chuxia's room, she sees her stretching.
“Is my little Chuxia tired?” Jiang Yuan quickly asks. “I knew it was time to.let Teacher Wen finish early. It took the whole morning to just finish two subjects.”
An Chuxia chuckles before saying, “That's mathematics for you. By the way, Mummy, you've been with me all morning. Why don't you go visit Qilu?”
Upon hearing his name, her eyebrows knit. “Visit him? It's enough I've spent this much time with him! Besides, I don't have to mother him. He has steward Han.”
Jiang Yuan's head hurts when she thinks of Qilu's entanglement with Mankuai. It's best if she stays away.
“Mummy, don't say that. You know he doesn't express his emotions well.” An Chuxia attempts to persuade her. She knows Jiang Yuan has a soft heart.
In all honesty, Jiang Yuan is still concerned about his most recent head injury.
“Since you've asked me, I'll go visit that stinky boy.” Jiang Yuan expressed a helpless reaction before walking out of the ward.
The woman walks to the other ward, and as she opens the door, she hears Qilu say over the phone, “I'm fine. I'll probably be discharged by tomorrow.” He pauses, like he was compromising with a nod. Then he says, “Then I will send steward Han to collect you downstairs.”
Jiang Yuan's ominous premonition guesses he was talking to Mankuai on the phone.
Surprised, Han Qilu asks, “Mom, how long have you been standing there?”
“Can't I be here?” She asks. Hands on her hips, she queries, “Who were you on the phone with just now?”
Han Qilu gets out of his bed and walks to the door. “None of your business. I'll take care of it myself. You don't need to intervene.”
Sure enough, it has to be Mankuai!
“I'm letting you know, regardless of how much you like that woman, I'll never accept her,” she says, glaring at him.
Han Qilu disregards his mother, shoving her out the door. Then, he summons steward Han. “Help me collect someone downstairs.”
The butler's heart sinks as he looks at Jiang Yuan. “Who am I picking up?”
Minutes later, steward Han brings over Xiang Mankuai. Jiang Yuan is so upset, she returns to the mansion. An Chuxia knows nothing of what transpired. She was in her room doing schoolwork.
Xiang Mankuai wears a short white dress with a low waist. Her hair is pulled into a high ponytail, attracting a lot of attention from countless people. When she and steward Han arrive in Han Qilu's ward, the old man doesn't leave.
“Qilu!” Mankuai trots to his side, raising her hand and stroking his head when she is close enough. “Are you alright? Why is your head still bandaged? Do you have any sequelae?” A series of inquiries pops from her mouth. She looks into his eyes with much concern.
However, he's not quite sure if the concern is sincere. He never really saw through her, did he?
“I'm okay,” he says, taking a step back. It's then he notices steward Han's presence. “Steward Han, you may step out.”
“I'm to stay here to ensure you remain well. Only time will tell.” Steward Han uncharacteristically disobeys Qilu.
Mankuai feels a bit of discomfort. The old man must've been put in here to surveil.
“I'm here to take care of Qilu. It's okay,” she says with a smile.
Despite her words, he remains still.
Han Qilu lowers his head. “Steward Han.”
The butler sighs, then nods. “I'll be right outside. Just call out.”
The door to the ward closes, and Xiang Mankuai proudly smirks. “What time will you be discharged tomorrow? I can pick you up.”
