I’ve probably have read these chapters more times than I care to admit. However, it's only now I've realized how early Ling Hanyu's feelings toward An Chuxia has changed. I always thought it would be Mingluo who'd be more protective of Chuxia!

She steps out of the cla.s.sroom, puzzled. "Why are you here?"

Ling Hanyu sullenly says, "Looks like you're annoyed to see us. Fine, I'm leaving. Don't stop me."

An Chuxia stares at him in confusion. Xiao Mingluo is indifferent. Neither of them stop Hanyu.

"Hey!" Hanyu angrily stares at them. "Neither of you is stopping or blocking me?"

Xiao Mingluo puts his hand on his chest and raises his chin with disdain. "You told us not to stop you. You think we'd be able to talk to her if we walked away?"

"I… ." Ling Hanyu hangs his head and walks back to them.

An Chuxia groans. "Are you looking for something?" She deliberately rephrases her statement from "Why are you here?"

Ling Hanyu shrugs. "We just heard you aced the general exam. We came over to specifically congratulate you. We were hoping you'd join us in celebration at Atlantis? Oh… not…no, handsome guy ."

"What's wrong with you?" Xiao Mingluo pushes Hanyu aside. "We came to remind you to be careful of Mo Xinwei. Hanyu said you don't want us to help you. But I wish you'd take up on our offer to help you."

He says it with such sincerity An Chuxia is touched.

“Why would you want to help me?” They are good friends with Han Qilu. From any perspective, they shouldn't extend any help to her.

"An Chuxia." A boy from the cla.s.sroom emerges. His name is An Chen Chuan and he's the only boy who resisted the review. An Chuxia found it strange when he stayed behind after the rest of the cla.s.s left. He's very animated. Although she's only been in the cla.s.s for two days, she finds it odd for someone popular in cla.s.s acknowledge her.

He's usually the first out of the cla.s.sroom. What's with him today?

"Chen Chuan, why haven't you left?" She turns and smiles at him pleasantly. She's usually gentle to others… with Han Qilu being the exception. And these two boys. No matter what, she can't like them.

An Chen Chuan unconsciously blushes as he sees An Chuxia smile. He is so nervous, he doesn't know where to put his hands.

"I was hoping you'd finish your business with Chuxia. I have something important to discuss with her."

Xiao Mingluo pulls his senior rank on the little boy. It seems the little boy has taken a liking to Chuxia.

An Chuxia turns around and stares down Xiao Mingluo's arrogance. She looks at Chen Chuan and grins. "I'm sorry they're acting like this."

Xiao Mingluo takes a big step before An Chuxia and doesn't wait for her to speak. "Are you deaf? She said she's very busy so if you can't say it here… ."

Stunned, An Chen Chuan's mood sours. Xiao Mingluo's words lowers his self-confidence.

“Well then. An Chuxia, this is for you!” He goes behind Xiao Mingluo and personally hands An Chuxia a light blue envelope. As he turns away, the sun hits his back, pulling a long shadow on them. An Chuxia, you'll witness me ace this test for you.

Hanyu stares at An Chen Chuan's back for a while. An Chuxia remains perplexed.

"An Chuxia, come back!" Xiao Mingluo raises his voice loud enough for her to consider it shouting.

She remains stunned for a few seconds before looking at the envelope and tucking it in her uniform jacket pocket. She turns and looks at Xiao Mingluo and Ling Hanyu wearily. "Thank you for being altruistic. If I need help, I will remember to look for you."

She returns to the cla.s.sroom and retrieves the stack of books on her desk.

"Hey, that's an English version of I Have a Dream. You understand it?" Xiao Mingluo is surprised to see the book. Then he rememebers she just scored full marks. The fact she reads such wonderful work makes her s.e.xy in his eyes.

An Chuxia picks up her pace as she heads toward the other side of the corridor.

“Hey, An Chuxia! You just can't leave like that!” Ling Hanyu lengthens his stride and grabs An Chuxia by the collar. He is rather upset.

She turns in annoyance. "What can't I do? Can you be more articulate?"

Sometimes she feels these rich children are really strange!

Xiao Mingluo didn't think Ling Hanyu would suddenly flip. He runs toward them. "Let go of her immediately. Hanyu, what's gotten into you?"

Ling Hanyu can be considered the most impulsive of the three of them, and it's because he thinks way ahead than most people would.

He frowns at An Chuxia. He growls, "Aren't you Han Qilu's fiancée? What the h.e.l.l are you doing? Are you having fun with other boys because you don't like him at all?"

He almost roars down the corridor. Fortunately, most of the students and faculty are gone. Otherwise, her ident.i.ty as Qilu's fiancée would be exposed.

She is simultaneously elated and exasperated. Who does he think he is? Why does he think he should manage her?

She stares at Hanyu. "Let's get one thing straight. This fiancée thing is forced on us. Ayi wants me to have a good ident.i.ty in this school and that's all there is to it. This ident.i.ty? Neither Qilu, nor I, want everyone to know about it."

Ling Hanyu is stunned. She looks at him and a smile reappears on his face.
