Chapter 163: Justice
Adding the unfortunate man lying on the ground, they had a total of 6 men and 5 women, a total of 11 survivors. Their complexions were obviously not as good as the ones who had followed the police, their expressions were dispirited and pale, seeing the dodgy men around them.
The zombies inside the spa were already purged. Zhang Xiao Qiang chose to lead his men back first and officially move the people at the chicken farm over. He then got Three to find a few vehicles that could still be used to pull the 30 odd survivors over while he pulled Shangguan Qiao Yun over to one side.
“When were you able to shoot so accurately?” Zhang Xiao Qiang got right to the point, leaving Shangguan Qiao Yun stumped for words. She was unclear as well as to why she suddenly erupted in morals, upon thinking back to the situation, she opened her mouth in hesitation.
Shangguan Qiao Yun was waiting in the car for Zhang Xiao Qiang to bring the people over when she suddenly noticed someone surveying from the automatic door. With her good eyesight, she quickly identified the man’s clothes and appearance, she knew that he was not part of the group. But by the time she took out her rifle, the man had already ran away. Afraid that someone would come and steal her vehicle, she stood behind it and waited. As to her calculations, 3 men came out with rifles and started firing at her while they ran out.
Bullets continued to spray onto the vehicle in front of her. The sudden attack had blinded her temporarily and made her confused; She did not know whether to return fire or operate the car and escape. Seeing the craziness in the men’s eyes, the gun in her hand automatically came up and before she could even take aim, her finger pulled onto the trigger. It was exactly like when she killed the S-type zombie that pounced onto Zhang Xiao Qiang before, the only difference was the first time being a sudden break out but the second being a constant heightened state. After shooting three times, the few men that were running towards her were shot to death. That was when she was able to suppress the people inside who were blindly firing. She hid behind the wheel and listened to the trajectory of the bullets and where the gla.s.s broke. At that instant, she was extremely afraid and did not dare retaliate. But after hiding for a period of time, her body suddenly stood up again and automatically turned the aim of the muzzle and fired off once. After firing, she regained control of her body, which she then hid to the side of the car wheel. She did not know what she had hit, which meant from start to end, she had only fired off 4 shots before Zhang Xiao Qiang’s subordinates came forward did she realize that it was over. Thinking that Zhang Xiao Qiang was already back, she automatically moved over to the carpark.
After listening to the story, Zhang Xiao Qiang inhaled in a mouthful of cold air as his body automatically moved a few steps away from Shangguan Qiao Yun. He had previously thought that she was getting possessed and the story further proved his theory. Zhang Xiao Qiang could not stand such unexplainable supernatural things, he did not have the thoughts to study Shangguan Qiao Yun’s strange state and only wished to get further away from her, best if they could go their separate ways. Shangguan Qiao Yun did not know of Zhang Xiao Qiang’s thoughts when she saw him take a few steps back, she stepped forward and got close to him again. Zhang Xiao Qiang was at a loss, he did not know whether to cry or laugh, he was afraid of the ‘thing’ on Shangguan Qiao Yun that he had to endure it silently. When he saw Three walk over, he immediately heaved a sigh of relief and welcomed him.
Zhang Xiao Qiang and He Wen Bin sat in the hall and watched Old Frank and Lu Ren Yi make an inventory of the supplies and firearms in the room, with pistols ranging in the majority amongst the firearms. There were more than 10 Type 77 Pistols followed by many Type 79 QBZ, 10 Type 95 a.s.sault rifle, 1 Type 85 Sniper Rifle, 11 Type 92 9mm pistols. The rest included bulletproof clothes, protective gloves, LED torchlights, police multifunctional knives, belts, various designs of bulletproof vests, first aid bandages, police ropes, walkie-talkies and 11 high-grade polymer bulletproof helmets used by police.
All of these were found in the carpark and various police vehicles. All ordinary police officers were equipped with Type 77 pistols and ammunition, Type 95 a.s.sault rifles were equipped to small squadron but were the first few to become zombies, so all of these were thrown to the corner. Fortunately for them, Three was meticulous and knew to search every nook and cranny, and was the one to find the Sniper Rifle at a higher and remote place, just that many of them were rusty but could be sorted with polis.h.i.+ng and cleaning. But the amount of ammunition found was not much, each a.s.sault rifles had less than 5 ammunition magazines while the Sniper Rifle had even lesser bullets, they had less than 100 shots of it.
The final inventory check revealed a total of 15 Type 77 pistols with less than 1000 bullets, 20 Type 54 pistols with less than 500 bullets, 7 Type 56 semi-automatic rifles with barely 200 bullets, 5 Type 56 submachine guns each having one magazine. 30 Type 79 QBZ with considerable ammo with an average of 2 40 ammo magazines each. But Zhang Xiao Qiang did not view them positively, they were not as practical as Type 77 pistols which were more accurate.
Three walked over to Zhang Xiao Qiang and said: “Brother c.o.c.kroach, we found where the man hid his firearms, there’s a variety of handguns totaling to a 100, all of which are washed out weapons of the armed forces and 200 Type 56 semi-automatic rifles and submachine guns. He obtained all these by bribing a staff in the armed forces to steal the weapons that were selected to be destroyed. But they don’t have a lot of ammunition, every gun has less than a 100, also, we found 5 starving women, they were all defiled beyond recognition….”
While Three reported, the old policeman Zhang Huai An popped his head out of the gates and looked around. He did this a few times repeatedly, Zhang Xiao Qiang found this wretched behavior of his comical, Is he really a cop? He allowed Zhang Huai An into the hall.
Zhang Huai An was nervous, his comrades and him had gone back to the chicken farm and along the way, his belief towards Zhang Xiao Qiang’s words strengthened as he observed the streams of zombies all around. 80 out of their 100 odd police squad had been turned into zombies. Upon considering that, the J City that had no army garrison had long turned into a dead city, causing all the ill intentions in their hearts to be retracted. They decided to follow Zhang Xiao Qiang wholeheartedly, at least Zhang Xiao Qiang had already survived in the outside world for the entire part and knew of the situation far better than them. Seeing the Logistic Team not daring to even utter a word despite the Combat Team’s random scoldings, he rejoiced in his decision.
He and the two bodyguards followed Three to retrieve the hidden firearms and saw the girls who were inhumanely tortured and a sense of justice surged out from his heart. He knew that Zhang Xiao Qiang was the man in charge and immediately thought of seeking him out to voice out his thoughts. But when he saw Zhang Xiao Qiang seated, the sense of justice was overwhelmed by his cowardice, and he started to explain to Zhang Xiao Qiang while stuttering.
“It’s…..It’s….like this….” Zhang Huai An swallowed a mouthful of saliva before continuing: “We…..found….found…a few girls inside the cave….they were tortured so badly….they are already at their dying breaths…..also….two of them….were also killed….I thought…that those men should be punished…..at least lock them up for 5 or 6 years…”
Zhang Xiao Qiang played with his Desert Eagle while listening to Zhang Huai An. He understood Zhang Huai An’s intent, Zhang Huai An was not an accomplished policeman and was just an adaptable minor figure but kindness existed in his heart, as long as he saw things that were wrong, he would want to stand up for it. But sadly, he did not have the courage for it, so whenever he spoke, he always sounded as though he was cringing.
“Creak…” The magazine was slotted into the pistol. Zhang Xiao Qiang caressed the Desert Eagle’s body, cast a glance at Zhang Huai An and spoke slowly: “Punish them?”
