Today we take a request within town. However it isn't by no means a simple one.
It's a request to subjugate demonic beasts that made a nest at a certain house.
By the way, I and Firia have arrived at the suburbs where the house is located at.
“Demonic beasts appear even within town, huh.”
“Our targets seem to be capable of flying, after all. No matter how tight the gate is guarded, it's still impossible to completely block the ones coming through the air. Moreover, it appears that their size also isn't that big.”
Our targets are bee-like demonic beasts called Mabee.
They're around palm-size big, for bees that's indeed big, but compared to other demonic beasts, such a size falls on the small side.
To perceive such information ever before coming into contact with them, as expected of me, the intelligent muscle.
“Aren't those the information that I gathered?”
“Don't peek into my mind…. Moreover, Firia, you may be the one who gathered them, but given the fact that I managed to discern those information, that still qualify me as intelligent muscle.”
I release the limiter only on my muscle arms and clench my fists.
The beauty of these muscles… no matter from where you look at them, they're such intelligent muscles.
“I feel that your standard of intelligence is too low, though.”
“Hey, let's get going.”
“Ah, yes.”
The client's house is straight a bit into the suburbs.
Each house is separated by around ten meters, so the area is kinda quiet.
The client is already waiting for our arrival in front of the house.
“I've been waiting for your arrival. Pleased to meet you.”
“h.e.l.lo.”
“My name is Firia and he is Yuri-san. Likewise, pleased to meet you.”
After exchanging short greetings, I immediately ask about where the Mabees are.
“Is the nest in the courtyard?”
“Yes. Unfortunately, they made their nest in the place where magic stone is installed at, so…”
The client points out at the inner part of the garden.
“—it turned into like that.”
At the place he's pointing at, there's a huge nest that's seemingly eroding the wall around it and a repulsive amount of mabees flying about around it.
“Uhyawaeah!?”
Firia lets out such a strange voice.
But it isn't like I don't understand where that comes from.
“So huge…..”
With such a size they can't be called bees anymore. Aren't they no less than thirty centimeters big?
Moreover, the wings size is clearly imbalanced to their body size.
The appearance of those mabees, which are flying while letting out nerve-wrecking buzzes, is indeed quite the nasty one.
“Ma, Mabee's food is magical energy. Seems like as the result of acc.u.mulating so much nutrients through devouring the magic stone which was abundant with magical energy, they've grown to such a size, right?”
Firia, who seemingly has somehow overcome her shock, lets out such a comment.
“Yes, that's why we are unable to do anything to them anymore….”
The client replies in a very troubled voice.
Well, that's a matter of course, though. Given the fact that demonic beasts of such a size are flying about it his courtyard, it isn't just a matter of obstructing daily activities.
Seems like I need to ease his worry first here.
I confidently pound my chest.
“Worry not. As we've already here, everything is as good as settled. Right, Firia?"
“Yes, please don't worry about it and head to somewhere safe first. I think we will need about an hour to deal with them.”
“Really?! Thank you very much!”
The client moves away from his house with a happy face.
“… Yuri-san, Yuri-san.”
When the client is completely out of view, Firia immediately calls out to me.
“What's it, Firia?”
“Do we really have to deal with that?”
Firia floats the most forced smile I've ever seen, her face is all twitching.
“If my face is as thick as yours that can withstand being told 'after spouting all those big words, in the end that's all you could do, huh', I think I don't mind leaving them be.”
“…we have no choice but to deal with them. For I'm the transcendental beautiful elf girl Firisan, I shan't allow such repulsive beings be.”
Firia clenches her fist in front of her chest.
“I'll still deal with them even by myself, though. If you can't stand them, I don't mind if you don't partic.i.p.ate, you know?”
If it's a combat, it's still fun even if I'm alone, after all, so if she can't stand them, I don't mind dealing with them by myself.
However Firia shakes her head.
“No, for my reward part… I have to….”
While rubbing her gooseb.u.mps hand, Firia utters so.
“Are you sure you're alright?”
“If I die, please dispose of my bones to the sky….”
“Don't say something that inauspicious…”
Like that, I and Firia decide to deal with the Mabees.
“Ora!”
When I fire pistol punch toward the nest that's sticking on the house wall, sensing danger, the Mabees are coming out one after another. There are about sixty to seventy of them.
Looking at the scene, that's indeed quite bizarrely repulsive.
“Uwaa, a lot coming out….”
“Well, of course they are.”
Seeing Mabees appearing one after another, Firia's trembling.
“Are you ready, Firia? They're coming!”
I fire another pistol punch towards the center of the Mabees.
Several Mabees fall to the ground, but most of them spread widely and surround us.
“Don't come! Please! Please~!”
Firia haphazardly shoots magic toward the approaching Mabees.
Receiving never-ending barrage of magic, the Mabees are unable to come close to Firia.
“Not bad Firia. But I won't let you outshone me!”
I won't let her take all of the credit like this.
And so I charge forward toward the flock of Mabees.
After tens of minutes pa.s.sed, after defeating the last one, I confirm that we've completed the request.
“It's over.”
“No, no more….”
Firia falls down on the spot.
Looks like she's pushed herself too much.
Prowess-wise, opponents of such level weren't enough to pose as a threat to her at all, but seems like the mental burden wasn't a light one.
“Hey, are you okay?”
I hold out my hand toward Firia.
Firia uses her tender hand to take mine and stands up.
“Mo, more or less…. More importantly, Yuri-san, you seemed to get stung several times, but are you alright? It's hard to imagine you losing against Mabees, but…”
“I kinda wanted to taste their stings, so I let them stung me.”
“…? Huh, so you got stung on purpose?!”
“Yeah. But they weren't good at all. My skin seemed to be tougher, so when they stung me, their stings snapped instead.”
I let out a sigh.
I thought it'd be a good training, but this level of demonic beasts weren't enough at all.
“…Yuri-san, is your skin made of metal or something?”
“Don't trifle with me, Firia. My muscles are way tougher than metal!”
Just look at these muscles.
Properly trained muscles won't get injured by mere stings.
It can even be said that I'm wearing a natural armor.
As far as I'm concerned, the mightiest armor is muscle.
“…I see, good for you…”
Firia expressionlessly says so.
“Hey, isn't your reaction too lukewarm?”
“I'm already too tired to be surprised. Moreover, thinking too deeply about you is just a waste of time, Yuri-san.”
I see.
“The so called 'Don't think, but feel', right? Not bad, Firia. ”
“…well, let's just leave it as that.”
Firia lets out an astounded sigh.
When we informed that we'd subjugated every Mabee, the client exaggeratedly thanked us.
It could hardly pose as training, but it wasn't necessarily a bad thing considering the client's happy expression.
