VOLUME 9 CHAPTER 81: DON’T TELL ME THIS IS THE AFTERMATH OF THE BATTLE (8)

Liu Bei POV

“Ah! Umm–”

I began to panic and feel very uncomfortable. Yi De was the same, and after she screamed, she grabbed a towel to cover herself and flailed her other arm about in front of her.

*Dong*!

“Ah!”

“Ah, Yi De!”

Her flailing unfortunately hit the bronze sink and tipped it over, making it fall off the bed and landing with a dull thud, its contents spilling onto Yi De and her clothes in the process.

“Wahhh!” Yi De then cried out in surprise once more as she reflexively leapt away from the bed. She then reached out to touch her gown and found that it was mostly soaked. At this time, her body was wet and glistening under the candlelight.

I stepped back and covered my face but succ.u.mbed to the impulse to see what was going on and looked between a crack in my fingers.

Just then, I saw that her act of jumping off the bed had loosened her cloth belt. And when she turned around to look at her clothing which was worn only from the waist down, that action further strained her belt and it was about to fall away.

“Ah… Yi De…” I was just about to tell her this when the belt fell away.

*Sou*–

“Eh?” Yi De uttered a small gasp of surprise as her gown fell to the ground. By the way, her red inner garments were still on the bed and underwear does not exist in this era so she is completely naked now.

It’s not like it’s my first time seeing in full nude. I saw it before back in Xu state when I woke up that morning. However, to Yi De, this is the first time this is happening for her as she has lost her memories. What made me feel really guilty though was that I saw everything.

Yi De’s expression then began to change; her eyebrows frowned ever tighter and her eyes bulged as tears began to fill her eyes while her lips began to open. Ah, she’s going to–

“Please, Yi De! Don’t scream!”

When I realised that she was about to scream, my mind went blank and I frantically ran up to her. Just as she was about to scream, I went around her and grabbed her with 1 arm while covering her mouth with the other.

If Yi De were to scream again, and this time will undoubtedly be much louder than the first time, everyone outside might take notice and I will not be able to defend myself when they come here and see this.

“Ah– Wu!” Yi De only managed to get off a squeak before I silenced her and began to frantically try to pull my arm off. Her strength was great but because she was panicking, she was unable to get a good grip on my arm. As a result of the struggle, my arm was soon covered by scratches from her nails but I held on despite the pain and did not let go. And after about 3-4 seconds, her strength began to give way and she slumped against me…

Ah… d.a.m.n it! I’m acting exactly like a rapist right now!

My mind finally stirred from its blank state and when I looked down, I found that I was holding Yi De tightly, who had by now turned pale and had tears streaming down her cheeks.

Ah– I began to feel very guilty and terrible, more than I have ever felt since I came here.

“I’m sorry! Yi De!” When I realised what I had done, I hurriedly s.h.i.+fted away and removed my hand from her mouth. I then took off my coat and draped it on Yi De before looking away.

I cannot believe I actually charged at her and held her like that… It seemed like I was about to violate her. How could I have done this to an amnesiac Yi De who just had a harrowing experience on the battlefield?

I was just think
ing that I should not cause such misunderstandings anymore too, and then this happened. Ah, I really am too careless, I lamented as I waited for Yi De to dispense punishment upon me. Perhaps she might yell to attract everyone’s attention or she might beat me up. Whatever she does to me, I have no right to complain.

However, even after several seconds pa.s.sed, Yi De neither yelled nor touched me as I expected. Instead she merely grabbed her red inner garments and put them on.

As I listened to the rustling sounds behind me, I wondered if I should leave the room first. No, it’s too late. I should have done so before, not now.

While delivering a tsukkomi to myself, I picked up the bronze basin and put it away before picking up a piece of cloth nearby and using it to wipe the bed.

It was lucky that there was something for me to do. Otherwise, I would have had to endure the awkward silence. Nevertheless, a small voice inside me, probably belonging to my conscience, kept berating me.

“Umm…”

“Yes!” Just then, Yi De spoke up and I stood up straight instantly and waited for Yi De to continue.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her pull off the coat I draped around her and extended her other hand over to where I was.

I thought that she was going to hit me but then she placed her hand on top of the cloth I was holding. I should have known better than to expect violence from Yi De now that she had lost her memories.

“Umm, let me do it.” Yi De said weakly.

“No, let me help you.” I said as I s.n.a.t.c.hed the cloth away, not daring to look at her and continued as sincerely as I could, “What happened before was my fault, I… Ah, I know that even if I apologise now, it’s no use so if there is anything I can do for you, let me know…”

The moment I finished, I realised that what I said sounded a little funny.

“No, my lord is not entirely at fault…” She said, her voice growing softer and softer as she went on and turned away, “Besides, t-the bronze basin fell because of my carelessness…”

She trailed off again. When I looked at her face, I saw that her face was a bright crimson red. Even though she was really shy and embarra.s.sed, she still plucked up the courage to stand beside and speak with me. Compared to her robotic and workaholic behaviour when we first met her after Xu state, Yi De was now much more personable and warm. I wonder if the original Yi De had these traits in her as well? I also wonder if Yi De ever felt happy after we met after Xu state.

I looked to the side and saw that Yi De was no longer standing beside me. Turning around, I saw that she had went to pick up her drenched gown. When she saw me looking at her, she hurriedly rolled her gown into a ball and tucked it away in her grasp so that I could not see it. I realised what was troubling her and quickly turned away.

“Umm, your clothes need to be washed right? Do you want me to wash them for you later?”

“Ah, ah! There’s no need for that. I’ll do it myself.” Yi De seemed a little frantic when she heard what I said and took the bronze basin before filling it with a little water from the large jar outside her room.

I probably should not have offered to wash her clothes. She’s a girl after all and it would probably be embarra.s.sing for her to have a guy wash her clothes. Looks like I better change the topic before things get too awkward again.

“Umm, it might seem like an excuse now, but I did try to call you earlier when I was coming into the room.”

“Eh? Really?” Yi De responded with surprise as she brought the basin back into the room.

“Ah, I’m not trying to s.h.i.+ft the responsibility of causing this mess.” I hurriedly explained, “I was probably too soft and you might have been too preoccupied with your thoughts then.”

“Ah…” Yi De seemed to come to a realisation as she gasped and then nodded as she smiled stiffly, “That is probably the case. I was indeed thinking about some stuff earlier… But it’s nothing too important.”

I was about to ask what she was thinking about but then Yi De quickly said that it was not important so I decided against it.

“I see.” I replied. Just then, I could hear that Yi De had begun was.h.i.+ng her clothes.

“By the way, are you really planning on was.h.i.+ng them yourself? You just woke up after all.” I asked, still worried about her, “Are you feeling any better now?”
