Chapter 26: First Win
Loulan stood off the stage. There was no difference in his expression because of the mask on his face, but due to his involuntary clenching of both fists, it could still be seen that he was nervous. He was indeed very nervous, fighting was strange to him, but he still understood the abnormally dangerous subtly of the situation. If one was even a little inattentive, he would be knocked down.
As for Ai Hui, who was on the stage, although his moves were not that fancy, they were exceptionally vicious and foul as he knocked down the last contestant. The incredibly nervous Loulan immediately jumped as he yelled out while raising an arm.
Ai Hui brought along the award money of one hundred thousand and a few bruises off the stage.
“Ai Hui’s too awesome!” Loulan said with starry eyes, almost prostrating himself in his admiration. Ever since he had been made, his daily life had been the same old routine: buy groceries, tidy the room, and learn the knowledge a.s.signed to him by Master Shao, which was sometimes medical care and some other things.
He had never fought before. The first time he had swung his fist was still that time when he had beaten up Ai Hui.
This was the first time he had observed a battle, it was truly intense, so intense that he had almost lost his breath. He had even forgotten that he was a sand golem that didn’t need to breathe. The atmosphere was stifling, making him unable to take his eyes off it as he gazed with rapt attention.
His life had been peaceful, without ripples, everyday had been those uninteresting repet.i.tive tasks he had to do.
He had never thought about how it sucked before, but now, he suddenly felt that his current lifestyle was lacking something.
Loulan’s gaze fell upon Ai Hui’s face.
There were several bruises on Ai Hui’s face, and he looked to be in a miserable state. However, Ai Hui actually didn’t care about that, his gaze was unwavering, making his face filled with bruises show a trace of grim firmness, as if there was nothing that could ever obstruct him. Ai Hui’s eyes weren’t s.h.i.+ning as bright as stars, rather, they were deeply reserved, like the distant location where the early morning sun had not risen, glimmering with blue coldness.
Loulan was somewhat moved, he felt a different pa.s.sion from Ai Hui. This was an ice-cold feeling, one that had never been abandoned in the bleakest part of his life, a feeling that came from walking out alone out of a predicament.
Ai Hui’s tranquility was like the deep dark night, silently waiting for dawn.
Loulan suddenly understood what he was missing, what he was missing was the pa.s.sion for life. His life and destiny had already been engraved, and he had to follow orders to do anything.
Loulan felt that his own thinking was nonsense.
He was a sand golem, he reminded himself.
Ai Hui noticed Loulan’s gaze and thought that he was staring at the bruises so he said attentively: “It’s nothing much, only minor wounds. These kinds of superficial wounds usually appear to be scary.”
The two exited together.
“If you’ve got skills, don’t leave! Let’s have one more match!”
A loud shout came from behind, it was exactly the last contestant Ai Hui had just defeated. The other party’s face was full of unwillingness, that’s right, he was not convinced at all. He felt that the reason why he lost was because he was too careless. When he saw this guy’s ugly looking street fighting style, he naturally would not accept his loss to this kind of person.
Loulan stopped in his steps. Ai Hui didn’t even turn his head around: “Ignore him.”
“Chicken! Wimp! Coward!” The contestant behind him cursed in exasperation.
The others also became to clamor, they also felt that the loss earlier was strange.
“He just happened to win by luck one time, you can’t count on him always having good luck.”
“Scram!”
……
Hearing the cursing behind him, Loulan got really angry. Why are these people like that, they obviously lost yet they’re still saying such offensive things, it’s too much!
After a while, Loulan saw that Ai Hui still had no reaction. He couldn’t help but ask: “Ai Hui, you’re not mad? Want to beat them up again?”
“What’s there to be mad about?” Ai Hui pulled out a stalk of gra.s.s by the roadside and chewed it in his mouth: “In the Savage Territories, they’re already dead.”
Loulan was somewhat stunned, it was difficult to describe how he felt after hearing Ai Hui’s words. Inside his casual speech, was an immeasurable self-confidence and a hint of bleakness.
Loulan asked curiously: “Ai Hui’s been to the Savage Territories?”
“Mn.” Ai Hui chewed the gra.s.s in his mouth: “Lived there for three years.”
“Awesome!” Loulan said with deep respect.
To Loulan, the Savage Territories was a mysterious and remote place. He had never left Interpine City, so what he knew about the Savage Territories only came from books. But he knew that the Savage Territories were extremely dangerous, in all the books that talked about the Savage Territories, this was always the common description. He didn’t know what it was like to live in the Savage Territories for three years, but it must be really awesome.
Ai Hui’s awesome!
Loulan was currently beside himself with admiration. He felt that in this world, the number one awesome person was Master Shao, and the number two awesome person was Ai Hui. Oh, no, the two people’s awesomeness were different, they’re probably number one in their own awesomeness.
“Where are we going now?” Loulan thought about the recently gained hundred thousand Ai Hui had just gotten and was instantly felt a bit happy.
“Next one.” Ai Hui said matter-of-factly.
“Next one? Are you still continuing?” Loulan was stunned.
“It’s such a good opportunity.” Ai Hui involuntarily licked his lips and narrowed his eyes like a wild animal that was about to pounce on its targeted prey.
He didn’t know why, but when Loulan saw Ai Hui’s expression, his heart instantly chilled a bit. As expected of an expert who lived in the Savage Territories, even his expression has this much murderous aura. He was really curious about how the Savage Territories were like.
As soon as Ai Hui walked into the second training hall, they were immediately drowned within the commotion.
As a new type of game mode, it made sense that blind battles were popular. Blind compet.i.tions were a new battle mode, and were unfamiliar to everyone. It possessed an enormous amount of chance, and the boundaries of strength were not that distinct here. Four hall experts being defeated by two hall experts were common affairs. Even if one had absolute strength, on the blind compet.i.tion stage, one would still need to be prudent, the slightest loss of focus could become instant defeat.
Inside the blind compet.i.tion, what usually worked would not, and everyone would come out laughing in a fl.u.s.ter.
When Ai Hui came in, a contestant on the stage had grabbed onto his opponent’s clothes, without even knowing what he had grabbed, he quickly used force. Rip! His pants had instantly been torn off, revealing his plump white b.u.t.t.
The audience beneath the stage erupted in loud laughter, their whistling nearly overturned the rooftops.
Under this sort of environment, Ai Hui’s face seemed to look exceptionally weird, his expression stuck out like a sore thumb. Ai Hui earnesty watched the battle, as if he had not noticed the contestant’s white b.u.t.tocks. His gaze swept through the contestants on the stage.
Everyone wore a lightproof mask, but what interested Ai Hui even more was that it was a double battle!
It’ll be good if Fatty was here, Ai Hui subconsciously thought.
He seriously observed for a while, and couldn’t help but shake his head. It could be said that the contestants on the stage were not coordinated at all.
It’ll be good if Fatty was here, Ai Hui couldn’t help but think that a second time. If he joined hands with Fatty, he was ninety percent sure they would win.
He swept a quick glance at the rule signboard, only a unit of two could partic.i.p.ate together.
Switch to another training hall? Ai Hui was somewhat unwilling. As he s.h.i.+fted his gaze to look at the extremely engrossed Loulan, his heart stirred.
Then, how about letting Loulan have a try?
