"Retreat!" cried Billy Boy when he noticed that the enemies were rus.h.i.+ng in from the rear to re-fill the void that Jiang Fei had created.
Even though reducing the number of enemies was crucial, stay alive was far more important to win the battle.
There were over a million enemies and every one of them did not fear death. Empyreal Dragon had only over 40,000 players left to guard the convoy. Out of the 40,000, 10,000 of them were stationed at the front of the convoy to take care of invisible enemies.
30,000 against 1,700,000 players… Even a monkey would know to run away when they were outnumbered. There was no way they could win, according to Billy Boy's calculations. Right now, he had suspected that Jiang Fei might have something up his sleeves. With that knowledge, all he could do was to delay as long as he can.
"Look! They're right there!"
"Our brothers need our help!"
"For the glory of Empyreal Dragon!"
Far in the back, behind the soldiers of Light Faction, came the voice of Empyreal Dragon's reinforcement.
"It's about d.a.m.n time!" cried Lady Casanova. She had informed Jiang Fei as soon as she had spotted them coming closer in the mini-map.
"We're saved!"
"Here comes the chivalry!"
Everyone in the convoy cheered loudly as soon as they heard that the reinforcement had arrived. With boosted morale, 30,000 players charged in fiercely and pushed the enemies down the highlands, all the way down to the foot of the hill.
Sadly, the reality was cruel as the fact that having over a million enemies had proven too hard to defeat. Their morale was not much help since the enemies were too large. The shape of the terrain had only made it close to impossible to push them back since behind the front lines were more jam-packed with players! At most, the momentary burst of vigor had only lasted for several minutes before they were forced to return to the convoy. The enemies had pushed back to their original position, into the highlands.
"Sigh…" Billy Boy sighed heavily.
Due to the sheer number of enemies between the two sides, reinforcement of Empyreal Dragon could never reach the convoy without first dealing with the enemies sandwiched between them. Two sides of the Empyreal Dragon were like buns while the Light Faction was the meat in between. A very large meat… The difference between the two sides was too large.
If the Light Faction wanted it, they could simply allocate a few hundred thousand players to deal with the reinforcement and then return to the main army. It was that simple. In the best case scenario, Billy Boy would force the convoy to retreat down the highland by forcing their way down. That way, they could group up with the reinforcement and push through. Sadly, the convoy could not move backward. The system would not allow it. If they insisted on leaving the convoy, it would be vulnerable to anyone in the front. Losing 3 levels was not something Billy Boy could gamble with. In the end, the very thing that Jiang Fei needed to transport had become the bane of their existence!
"Take 200,000 players and block the flies in the back. The rest shall move forward as planned," ordered the commander of the entire army with a smirk on his face. The highland was perfect for defenses and theoretically, Jiang Fei should have the upper hand. Even so, he was able to turn it against them!
"I heard that Verdure Glider has a marksman skill that could snipe. Dragon Phoenix, please cast a Forbidden Spell," said the commander.
"Excuse me? Did you hear what you said? Asking me to cast a Forbidden Spell would be suicide! Do you want me to be sniped by Verdure Glider?" said Dragon Phoenix.
"Have you forgotten what is our goal? And I was clear when I proposed the alliance. I am the commander. If you wish to disobey me, I will disband the alliance right this moment. What do you think?" said Tutu as he ignored Dragon Phoenix and faced the other guild masters.
To obtain absolute victory, a few guild masters had invested a great deal by hiring a professional strategist named Tutu.
That name was extremely feminine and anyone would immediately think of ballet clothes. However, if one were to know him, one would know that his name did not reflect anything but viciousness.
Unlike the other professional gamers, the player Tutu would always use a new name in every single game he played. However, there was one thing that anyone could recognize even if he had changed his name, it was his superior battle strategist.
Amongst the gaming community of China, the man behind the player Tutu was famous. Oddly enough, he and Billy Boy had rarely crossed swords as PvP strategists even though everyone knew that Tutu was the better strategist.
Everything was accounted for and planned. Based on the terrain, Tutu had trapped the convoy in a difficult place. Even if Empyreal Dragon had reinforcement, it would not matter since Tutu had already antic.i.p.ated that.
Billy Boy was a man who would never back down from a fight. He truly believed in the power of strategy. Tutu, on the other hand, had a different viewpoint. He was able to maintain his high win rate due to his own principle. He would only fight a battle that he knew he would win. His usual strategy was to fight the enemy with overwhelming force. There was never a single battle that he fought an enemy with a large fighting force. Before a fight, he would always plan everything down to the dot. He would always make sure that in any given situation of a fight, he would have the upper hand.
From the perspective of others, they were confident that with Tutu commanding the army, they would surely obtain victory. Little did they know that Tutu had already planned everything out. He knew that the Light Faction had a larger attacking force and Jiang Fei was only limited to his own guild.
"Dragon Phoenix, listen to the commander!" said Dragon Phoenix's guild master. When he saw that Tutu was not happy at his own guild member, the guild master quickly intervene and pestered him to obey Tutu's command.
"But! He is asking me to die!" Dragon Phoenix roared.
"You will do anything that Tutu asks you to do! If he wants you to jump, you jump!" said the guild master. No matter what Dragon Phoenix says, the guild master would not change his mind.
"But…"
"No buts! This is an order!" the guild master roared angrily. There were so many guild masters present with them and his member being disobedient to him was a display of shame.
"Fine…" said Dragon Phoenix as he gave in. The Forbidden Spell was given to him by the guild and with it, a very rigid contract. The words of the guild master were law.
"I'm truly sorry for you to have to experience this. Please do not mind him!" said the guild master as he groveled at Tutu.
The guild master was only so giving to Tutu because of future reliance. This war was only the beginning as they would still want to hire him as the next commander during the War of the Light and the Shadow.
Their enemies were the infamous Shadow Faction with overwhelming player counts, the all-powerful Verdure Glider, and the cunning Billy Boy! The Light Faction was always at a disadvantage when it came to war with the Shadow Faction. That was why they needed to have Tutu to lead the Light Faction!
