VOLUME 1
Chapter 3: Team Battle
Part 4
At the end of the day, they went a little bit away from the mountain and set up camp at the bank of a river. Including the previous day, they had slept there for two nights.
Traveling by night was dangerous. This was because monsters become stronger then. Everyone could use magic that would summon portable tents. The same applied to fire creation magic and cooking utensil summoning magic.
Back when Sky World was still an MMORPG, when referring to those spells, players commonly said, ‘What good is this kind of new magic?’However, now, those spells were seen by players as invaluable and very important. White magician barrier magic that would alert the user of intruders also became rather important.
Kasumi, accustomed to this, sprinkled a few herbs and a bit of bacon she made appear with magic into some water, and let the mixture sizzle in the fire. She spent half an hour making the flavoring herself. Suddenly, the fragrant scent of the soup filled the air.
Jun, using his level 105 cooking skill, made some bread.
Holding out a sack of flour he had taken out from his bag, he recited the command to use the cooking skill. The flour glowed lightly. A few seconds later, freshly made bread appeared in Jun’s hands.
“Awesome, Jun-san! We can eat some steamy warm bread! I’m excited!”
Though Kasumi praised him from the bottom of her heart, he had just used his skill to make it. Jun thought that making ‘yummy bread’ in the game was nothing compared to Kasumi’s hard work in making her wonderful soup.
Now, when Jun and Kasumi were preparing dinner, Eri was doing random little things here and there, such as was.h.i.+ng the wooden bowls and spoons in the nearby river and setting up the tent. As a matter of course, that girl, who had declared earlier, ‘I have no cooking ability whatsoever,’ really could only do that effectively.
“It’s not like summoned water or biscuits aren’t yummy, right?”
Jun had not forgotten. When she said that upon beginning the expedition, Kasumi had stared at her motionlessly.
Eri, disturbed by Kasumi’s cold att.i.tude, hastily said, “Ah, but if I wanted to&h.e.l.lip; I could cook! For example, I can put cheese between crackers&h.e.l.lip; or add eggs to rice&h.e.l.lip;” This made the situation even worse for her.
“Eri-chan, never set foot in a kitchen, kay?”
Her voice was dry. Furthermore, she had emphasized the word ‘never.’ Eri dropped her shoulders and nodded, agreeing with her. Observing that from nearby, Jun decided that he would be sure to be careful whenever on the topic of cooking with Kasumi.
Soon, the bacon soup and vegetables were ready. Jun and Kasumi could relax. Jun sc.r.a.ped off the excess food at the bottom of the pot and tried it out in the process. Then, after having washed the cooking utensils, they head out to bathe in the stream.
After listening to Eri say, ‘Take one peek, and I’ll player kill you,’ Jun started to review the information he had gathered earlier today while fighting against the Veil Guardian. Sitting near the bonfire, he tapped on his tablet keyboard and thought intensely.
With his current fighting ability, there should be a way for him to succeed. He thought out potential plans through which he could take out that incredibly strong monster.
Sometimes, he heard a few of the things the other two were saying while was.h.i.+ng.
“Hey, hey, Kasumi&h.e.l.lip; how did you get such b.o.o.bs?”
“How I got them&h.e.l.lip; huh? It just happened&h.e.l.lip; This is embarra.s.sing&h.e.l.lip; My friends always teased me about it&h.e.l.lip; I really haven’t gotten anything good out of it&h.e.l.lip;”
“Uuuh, the winners are always the ones who get it, huh&h.e.l.lip;”
“Wah, Eri-chan&h.e.l.lip; please don’t touch me there! Hey, wait, aaaaah, Jun-san will hear us!”
“Let’s let him hear then!”
“What are you doing!?”
He shook his head instinctively, hearing the intense splashes, and imagined the scene.
When their hair dried after their bath, suddenly, their fatigue caught up to them, making them all drowsy and tired. They ended up sleeping all together in the tent.
In the beginning, Jun proposed that they set up two tents. Eri shook her head in response to this idea.
“Well then, when monsters come to attack us, won’t we have been separated?”
Kasumi whispered into her ear, her head tilted in confusion as to why she, who habitually said ‘Boys are wolves,’ would have brought that up.
“Eri-chan, uh&h.e.l.lip; I don’t like bugs&h.e.l.lip;”
“Uh.”
“When you went camping with your school, Eri-chan, while you were sleeping in your tent, did all sorts of creepy-crawlies crawl all over your face?”
“Woah, Kasumi, I wouldn’t let that happen to you!”
“But in this world, alarm magic doesn’t work on bugs!”
“It does seem like it wouldn’t work on things other than monsters and people&h.e.l.lip; Hey, uhh, you’re fine if I make a fire, right? But things with legs are too much&h.e.l.lip; Especially while we’re sleeping in the middle of the tent&h.e.l.lip; Remember when it was cold? Jun, please sleep in the front of the tent!”
Jun bitterly retorted, “Well, then don’t sleep in the middle of the tent!”. He also suggested that he sleep in between the two of them.
“&h.e.l.lip; Kasumi-san?”
“Huh? Aren’t we all having fun together?”
Jun shook his head and understood their mixed gender situation.
They ended up sleeping in sleeping bags in three lines. Jun was the tallest, he was in the middle. It was fine.
Kasumi and Eri both fell asleep pretty quickly. Their snoring could be heard rather soon. That was good too.
Stuck in the middle between the two girls, Jun, rolling back and forth, was tickled by the girls’ hair on his nose and found their respective fragrances to be very distracting. After clearing his eyes, he ended up thinking about many things. He couldn’t get to sleep.
Thanks to his experience camping the day before, he was sleep deprived.
Today too, walking on the mountain path and fighting with that huge monster must have really exhausted him. The night pa.s.sed with him being the only one who didn’t get much sleep. Looking towards Eri, she even seemed to be rolling closer and closer to him.
“Hnnnnnn&h.e.l.lip; hnnnn”
Since it was only the moonlight coming into the tent, he could only see her basic shape, and not even her face. However, he figured out that she was approaching him, and in a way, he was a bit charmed by her.
He quickly turned around&h.e.l.lip; and noticed Kasumi’s pair of plump b.r.e.a.s.t.s. For some reason, she was moving like an inchworm, the upper half of her body near Jun. Her body up to her back was all out of her sleeping bag. Inevitably, her round b.r.e.a.s.t.s would get closer and closer to Jun.
She called out to him in her sleep, “Jun&h.e.l.lip; san.”
Jun trembled.
Kasumi, squirmed around. Something soft and warm grazed Jun’s nose. It happened again and again. Jun’s breathing intensified and he franticly turned towards the ceiling.
“This is bad&h.e.l.lip; This is really bad&h.e.l.lip;”
Jun closed his eyes. He would stand strong against this, the most brutal test of today.
It was getting very late at night.
The following morning, Jun stayed in his sleeping bag late, and so was teased a lot by Eri.
