Chapter 1223: Descending
Feng Feiyun became exceedingly strong but was still far from being unbeatable below the saint level.
There was always a higher mountain and a better man. He found fortunes but so did others.
He had his beast physique but others had access to powerful physique merit laws. For example, White Spider Sacred Ancestor’s Everlasting Law. This was comparable to his Myriad Beast Physique and Immortal Phoenix Physique.
There existed some superior merit laws as well, one being Terra King’s Terra Golden Physique.
At grand completion, this physique allowed one to become a saint. This alone took it to the next level because the other physique laws didn’t have this unique property.
One person who was still stronger was the lord of Void. He certainly couldn’t beat her right now.
“I still need to focus on learning more saint laws to improve my cultivation.” He performed a grand technique to absorb the world river - the acc.u.mulation of fire essence from Time Immemorial. This was a monstrous sum to aid him in finis.h.i.+ng the phoenix physique.
He also found seven more Trinity Cauldrons hidden deep in the muddy floor of the river. They only showed up after millions of essences were taken.
He took five and the remaining two went to the G.o.ddess. Thus, he had eight right now.
He became strong enough to kill the buddhist golden ape and dozens more powerful beasts in one day.
He delved deeper into the mountain range, hoping to find the medicine to revive Hongyan. Alas, an entire week of searching returned nothing. The mountain range was just too large so he left with the group.
Firebird Saintess, the younger phoenix, and the blood dragon waited outside. They saw a bronze vessel descending and Feiyun was the first to appear.
“You scared the h.e.l.l out of me, we could hear the monstrous beasts roaring in there, they were all demi-saints. How did you avoid them?” Firebird Saintess came closer to tidy the weary Feiyun’s robe only to find that it was an illusion.
She glanced over at the G.o.ddess and found the same thing. This naturally infuriated me.
“I knew this would happen, I just knew it... the two of you will drive me crazy!” She stomped the ground.
Feiyun took out a large golden pearl and said: “This is the source of a buddhist golden ape, fully refine it and it will save you eight thousand years of training.”
She became distracted by the radiant jewel for this was a common weakness found in women. Moreover, it was a gift from her fiance.
She accepted it and felt an immense heaviness. Saint dao laws flowed on the surface and captivated her attention, preventing her from cursing the shameless duo.
“From what I know, a mature ape can fight a saint, how did you kill it?” The girl was nearly as tall as Feiyun.
He patted her shoulder and said: “Lil’ Sis, I obviously killed a younger one.”
Since she was Grandpa Liu’s grandaughter, calling her a sister was acceptable.
“Oh, so is this your betrothal gift?” She asked, clearly happy with the gesture.
He knew her strong and direct personality. It wouldn’t be easy getting her to change her mind.
“You are a prestigious member of the firebirds and shouldn’t be careless with your comments. Let’s not make a joke out of this and besides, a buddhist pearl as a betroyal gift? That’s rather improper.” He smiled wryly.
“Not improper at all, I love it. I will marry no one but you.” She grabbed his waist and buried her head in his chest.
He glanced over at Phoenix G.o.ddess, asking for help with his eyes.
She ignored him and grabbed the younger phoenix’s hand: “It’s been more than three months, that’s half of the rising star conference. We have to go to the ruins right now.” ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Having said that, the two turned back into phoenixes and headed for the center of Heaven Gate.
“So heartless.” Feiyun sighed and gently patted the saintess’ head. He said softly: “Marriage is not a joke, and I prefer not to be overly intimate with my future wife, I prefer... a spiritual romance, not one out of desire.”
“Really?” She enjoyed the patting.
“The key point is, I don’t like girls who are too forward.” He grabbed her shoulder and said sincerely: “We don’t know each other at all, let’s get to know each other first?”
“Why can’t we just have a baby first?” She patted his hands away and said: “Aunt told me about the advantages of being pregnant, a man who won’t get you pregnant doesn’t want to marry you.”
“Mother told you this?” He was at a loss for words and stopped in his tracks.
“That’s probably how she stole your father from Lotus Saintess.” The turtle interjected.
He couldn’t deny this possibility.

The rising star conference lasted half a year so many must have reached the ruins. Feiyun had no choice but to catch up.
The turtle spoke of the dangers in Heaven Gate, enough to trouble saints. Although Feiyun had finished his beast physique, he was still nothing compared to a saint.
Therefore, he didn’t use the vessel since it would be too conspicuous. He would become a living target for the most powerful existences.
He followed a remote path to avoid the real dangers. The saintess took care of the weaker beasts while he focused on learning the saint laws within the ear made of clay.
After a whole month, he obtained another saint law for a total of eighty-two. As for the saintess, the source of the ape helped her reach the seventh level by forming the first law.
As they drew closer to the center of the region, they felt many ancient auras and vestiges from Time Immemorial.
The turtle came to a cliff with strange markings and saw a fossilized figure within. It leaned in closure and listened to dao sounds.
“A fossilized saint but someone else excavated this remains already. Who got so lucky?” It lamented.
Everyone bowed at the cliff before moving forward.
In the evening, Feiyun stopped at another peak and gazed at the horizon. He saw a floating bridge spanning a thousand miles with many stone piers, half of which was shrouded by clouds.
“That must be a part of the ruins, I wonder why the upper echelons of the humans chose this place for the conference.” The saintess said, arching her proud figure before Feiyun as if wanting to tempt him into committing a crime.
“I understand now, this is similar to a particular legend. They must want the rising stars to find a great fortune here.” The turtle said.
“What fortune?” Feiyun asked.
“I am not certain yet, I’ll know once we get there but it pertains to a big shot of the human race.” The turtle said.
Though they could see the bridge, it was still far away. It took another full day before they made it to the base and saw other geniuses.
Most were hiding in the shadows and other locations but Feiyun still spotted them.
He wondered why they chose to be pa.s.sive instead of entering the bridge to reach the ruins.
