Prologue - The Curse of Hero

The imperial palace of Arcadia Empire was shrouded with rising sparks of flame.

Two Bahamuts were facing each other. The night sky that was adorned by the colors of jet black and red acted as their background.

In the imperial castle five years ago, the emperor took Airi hostage and Lux's revolution failed.

But──Fugil who had been pretending to be unable to fight as Drag-Knight until then eradicated the imperial soldiers in that place and told Lux about his mission to change the world using the ArtifactVariable Drag-Ride.

Human would rule over other human and gradually formed a tyrannical system──and like that the balance of the world would gradually go out of order. Fugil had been secretly maneuvering behind the scenes for more than a thousand years in order to correct the crumbling balance.

No, Lux didn't know whether Fugil's deeds could really be called as secret maneuvers.

Fugil was genuinely wis.h.i.+ng to save this world.

He would save people. Then the successors of those people he saved would eventually grow impudent and prideful and began to oppress people again. When that time came, Fugil would act as the punisher who destroyed the system that went out of order.

He told Lux to ma.s.sacre all the important people in Arcadia Empire, the imperial family and the chief va.s.sals to bring an end to everything.

People wouldn't change their thinking once they had been infected by the poison called authority.

He declared that Lux's method that wished to urge such people to reform themselves wouldn't be able to change anything.

But Lux didn't give in even after being told that.

Lux looked back and thought.

Within the old empire, Lux and Airi didn't get infected by the poison of authority and kept at the distance by the people in power. In such situation──they were saved by Fugil.

Without Fugil's strength, Lux wouldn't even be able to stand on the stage to a.s.sert his will like this.

Once the people who didn't know anything one-sidedly decided that Lux was evil just because he was a royalty and hated him. They even abandoned his mother to die. It made Lux hated the world.

But, now after Philuffy saved him, he couldn't bring himself to hate the people.

Fugil was saying that Arcadia family and the people who sided with them, not even one of them held compa.s.sion toward the ma.s.s. But──.

The duty of a hero was to ascertain what is evil and destroyed it without fail.

Fugil claimed that he had continued to destroy such evils until now. In respond Lux looked straight into his eyes.

「You shouldn't just leave it to other people, you should lead them yourself! If you have the ideal that want people to understand each other then──!」

「──But, you are unable to turn your ideal into reality.」

Fugil smiled scornfully toward Lux and replied.

Lux and Count Atismata were outwitted by the emperor. Their revolution ended in failure.

「You are unable to judge evil and save good. To do such thing is impossible even with my power. A power that equaled a G.o.d would be necessary for that. You don't have both the resolve and the qualification to control such power. You are the weakest who can't even ascertain what should be saved and what should be discarded. Someone like you──」

After Fugil muttered that, Uroboros squirmed behind him and emitted seven-colored light radiantly.

Right after that, the two of them drew out their sword as though mirroring each other and rushed forward.
