“Do mages always carry these around?”

Asked Ian while putting on the spiderman gloves. That magical pocket seemed to be endless with wonderful items.

“I don’t know. It seems like the old man put all sorts of things inside it. See you in 15 minutes. If you still can’t find it by then, then just come down.”

Ian didn’t know who this ‘old man’ was, but felt like he would be an amazing guy.

After thinking about that, Ian started climbing up the wall.

When Ian moved, Abel also used his magic.

“…Low gravity!”

The gravity pulling Abel down reduced.

Then he crouched.

Crouching was necessary to jump higher!

Tah.

Abel jumped up just like that.

Thanks to the reduced gravity, he went all the way up to the 2nd floor in one go.

After he lightly landed on the windowsill.

He carefully started opening the door as though he was putting on a protector screen for a smartphone.

Creak.

With a small creaking sound, the windows opened.

Abel entered through that window. Until now, it was all successful.

As soon as he entered, he could see rows and rows of bookshelves. It was a little bit too much to search within 15 minutes.

‘The cover is in ancient tongue so it should be easy to find! Just look for the t.i.tle!’

Abel carefully, but nimbly moved. He started looking for the Book of Thrandriel.

‘Found it!’

The 15 minutes were almost up, and he could barely find it with 3 shelves left.

‘I’m sorry. I’ll put it back after I read it once!’

Abel pulled out the book from the shelf. He made a silent promise and returned.

When he looked out the window he came in, Ian was already there.

“Huh!? It’s Abel.”

Ian shouted with a small voice in fear of being found out by someone.

Fuu,

Abel took a deep breath. With the book in his arm, he jumped to the ground.

He was able to land lightly thanks to the magic he cast beforehand.

“I found it! Let’s go!”

Abel spoke with delight.

“Huh? It’s not this one?”

Ian was surprised by Abel’s words and pointed to his own book.

“What’s that?”

The book Ian was holding was very similar to the Book of Thrandriel. Whether it was the tattered brown cover page, or the size of each page that was slightly bigger than an A4 printing paper, and even some thicker pages too.

“I think you got the wrong one. Let’s put it b”

“S, someone’s coming!”

Before Abel could finish his words, Loki runned towards him.

“……!”

Dammit, the time….

“Let’s just take it and put it back later!”

Unfortunately, they had to go back right now.

Kyle’s office on the 89th floor of Northanc Tower.

Viin.

The orb that Kyle used to communicate with Abel started vibrating strongly. Someone was sending a signal.

Kyle was skimming through some books in front of his shelf. After hearing the vibration, he approached the desk that was messy with all of his research.

Kyle inserted mana into the orb. Then, the orb turned translucent. A mysterious man appeared inside.

[Sir, Abel has taken the book.]

“Haha, that brat... he could have asked me……. Yes, did you take care of it?”

[Yes. I’ve dispelled the alarm magic, and I also held back the guards as well.]

“Thanks. Tell me if any problem occurs.”

[Yes. I shall take care of it before that happens. I’ll keep watching him.]

“Okay, then. Let’s meet up some time. Sorry for asking you to do this, haha.”

[Not at all, sir. It is my pleasure to be of help to you. I’ll contact you later then.]

Boop.

The communication ended and Kyle walked to the shelf again. Then he started reading a book as though nothing had happened just now.

Abel looked at the two books that the three brought. One is definitely the Book of Thrandriel… but the other one was written in horrible handwriting and was difficult to even read.

“The… stu…dy… of… para…bolic… curves… and… the… proper…ties… of … poly…hed…ra?”

It felt like some research paper. Looking at the handwriting, it looked as though it was from the ancient times. Perhaps that was why Ian was mistaken.

Let’s put this away for a bit, and……

Yes! Finally! The 2nd volume at long last. This should have more secrets about mana!

Abel slowly turned over the cover of the 2nd book.

<…what kinds="" of="" effect="" black="" mana="" has="" on="" the="" user’s="" psyche.="" i="" could="" find="" out="" some="" of="" the="" properties="" of="">

However, as I do not have much time left to me, please forgive me for only writing about the white mana. O, being of the future. Our urgent task is the succession of white magic.

White mana shows a clear difference between grey and black mana. The difference is the flexibility of mana. Unlike the other two mana that naturally forms a ring when it gathers at the heart, white mana does not create a circle.

After a.n.a.lyzing in depth about the causes of this phenomenon, we have discovered one fact. This, is because of the concentration. It is 10 times thicker than grey mana, but the flexibility is unspeakably superior.

However, there were definite disadvantages to this as well. I shall now explain this in easier terms.

First, there is no limitations of circles, and the caster is allowed to use 9-circle magic immediately. That is, with enough insights.

However, unlike grey magic that allows the use of all magic as the circle increases, white mages can only move after gaining all the insights into each and every magic.

As such, white mages are usually raised to specialize their own traits.

I, Thrandriel, am a mage of fire, and can use magic all 9 circles of magic, but can only use up to 8-circle magic regarding other types of magic……>

“It’s not here!”

No matter how hard he read, there wasn’t some juicy tips(?) about grey mana.

‘And I went through all that suffering to get this!’

A being who lived almost an eternity was doing research, so wouldn’t he have found out about almost everything? But he didn’t write it down due to time constraints……. That’s so frustrating.

“Ah… this is super bad now……. White mage of fire! What etern… whoa!”

Thud.

Abel was leaning back on his chair and fell down backwards.

‘…My credits are not my problems right now!’

As though he had gained some insights(?) Ian opened the book that Ian brought while shaking his hands.

Flip, flip.

He flipped each page very quickly. A strong resolve could be seen in his eyes.

Although it was very old, it was written in the common tongue, so it wasn’t 20,000 years old or more.

It seemed to be a research paper, but although this was incredibly difficult for the people living in this world, this was no more than high school-level geometry back on Earth.

s.p.a.ce, huh…….

“Why didn’t I think of this before? In the first place, I only had to look into time and s.p.a.ce when I learned white magic.

Yes. The most fundamental reason Abel was learning magic was to go back home. To do that, he had to cast the 9-circle magic ‘Dimensional Gate’. Common knowledge says that he should reach 9-circle first, but Abel had no need for that right now. He had white mana after all!

‘I shall only learn about time and s.p.a.ce magic and learn dimensional gate as soon as possible!’

As he had experienced before, the level of mathematics in this world was close to nil. That was the same for s.p.a.ce-time and geometry research.

However, he had already learned Euclidean geometry, as well as ‘differential geometry’, ‘algebraic geometry’, ‘Riemann geometry’ as well as ‘topology’ and ‘linear algebra’ as his major! Researching into s.p.a.ce was nothing.

Though, yes. In regards to time, he only learned up to the theory of relativity that all science-based majors learn, but that would take what, ten more millennia to be discovered in this place.

Above all he had the casio scientific calculator capable of trigonometry, inverse hyperbola, graphs, coordinate transformations, calculus and even a solver function!

‘I should tell this joyful news to Kyle!’

It was a very happy thing that there was a being he could share his joy about.

Abel immediately inserted mana into the communication orb.

Viin.

After a bit of time, the orb replied.

“Kyle!”

[Haha, what is it?]

“I found a way to go home!”

[Huh, is that true? How can you do that?]

“You know white mana is very flexible right. I think I only have to research a lot into s.p.a.ce and time! And with the knowledge I have, I think I can do it quite quickly!”

[Haha, so there is such a method! Yes, what can this old man do for you?]

There was something that he needed Kyle’s help with.

“You know the research you did when you summoned me, right? Give me all of them!”

Kyle was the greatest argemage in this continent, no, strictly speaking, after the ‘apocalypse’. His research materials should be the most advanced of this world! That was enough.

[Hahaha, I got it. I’ll clean it up sometime and send them over to you. A s.p.a.cetime mage, huh…….]

Boop.

The communication ended. Considering Kyle’s personality, he’s probably organizing them right now.

That was how the ‘s.p.a.cetime mage’ was born.
