When Kakas.h.i.+ returned to the Office of the Hokage, Sai had arrived. 夕刻だった。部屋にはオレンジ色の残照が差しこんでいる。 It was evening, and the room was tinged with an orange afterglow. 「襲われました、さっき」 “A little while ago, I was attacked” カカシが火影の机に着くと、サイは言った。 Kakas.h.i.+ was sitting at the desk of the Hokage as Sai spoke. 「なに？」 “What?” 会議での気疲れが、その一言で吹き飛んだ。 He was mentally fatigued from the meeting, but with that single word, (his tiredness) was blown away. 手配書が上位者を何人かピックアップして、情報屋にあたるよう依頼したその帰りに、覆面の二人組に襲われた、とサイは話した。 Sai spoke: He had picked out some high-ranked individuals from the bingo-book. Sai had been in contact with an informant and had dispatched him (to investigate into their activities). When Sai was returning (back to the village), a masked duo had attacked him. 「強かったです。二人のうち、せめて一人でも確保したかったんですが――」 “They were strong. Between the two people, I even wanted to detain at least one of them, but――

RAW English 一人は逃げ、残る一人は自爆したという。 Sai said that one of them escaped, and the person who remained then self-destructed. 「自爆……」 “Self-destructed…..” 「しかし、覚悟の自爆ではありませんでした」 “However, he was unprepared for the self-destruction” カカシはサイの顔を見返した。 Kakas.h.i.+ stared back at Sai’s face. 「一旦は確保したその男に、尋問を試みました。話せば、今後の処遇を考慮してやるとエサをちらつかせて。でも、男がなにか言いかけたとき――」 “For a moment, I tried to interrogate the man whom I detained. He competed against Sarutobi Hiruzen for the position of being the Sandaime Hokage. In that compet.i.tion, he was defeated. Afterwards, he created an original organization called “Root” within the ANBU. He was a man who was scheming to control the village. Sai was in “Root”. ダンゾウはサイたち「根」の構成員の舌に、呪印を埋めこんでいた。 「根」やダンゾウについて話そうとした途端、 体が痺れて声が出なくなる、というのがその効果だった。 Danzo applied a cursed seal onto the tongues of Sai and all the other members of “Root”. As soon as they tried to talk about “Root” or Danzo, their bodies would become numb and their voices would not come out. RAW English 「暗部に」 “For the ANBU….” 「ああ。暗部の積木キドが、会議中、今回の襲撃事件について触れてな、今こそ暗部の強化が急務ですなんて力説したんだ。 会議には大名様もホムラ様もいたから、暗部はまんまと予算獲得に成功したよ。……なあサイ、俺の言いたい意味がわかるか？」 “Ahh. It was Tsumiki Kido from the ANBU. He alluded to the recent incidents when (the Daimyo and Homura) were attacked. Now, it would surely be the time to strengthen the ANBU; He emphasized it as something that was urgent business. Because the Daimyo-sama and Homura-sama were at the meeting, the ANBU were fairly successful in their acquisition of the budget……Well Sai, do you understand the meaning of what I want to say?” 「先生、それ…」 “Sensei, that’s…….” サイが息を吸いこんだ。どうやらサイも、カカシと同じ絵図を思い浮かべたらしい。 Sai took a breath. For now, he’s the most likely suspect.” 「わかりました」 “Understood” 「ただし、少しでも危険だと思ったら、すぐに離脱してくれ。敵はお前の襲撃に一度失敗している。二度目は、さらに本気でかかってくるはずだからな」 “However, immediately withdraw if you even think that it’s getting a little too dangerous. The enemy failed in his attack on you once already. On their second attempt, they should be more serious. ” 「はい」 “Yes” サイはうなずくと、机の前から一瞬で姿を消した。 Sai nodded. He stared at the ceiling. 「……しかし、いろいろ起こるね、どうも」 “……However, these various things are happening somehow” そう独りごちたとき、「火影様」 と、通信班の忍が駆けこんできた。 As Kakas.h.i.+ muttered that to himself, a s.h.i.+n.o.bi from the Communications Corps came rus.h.i.+ng up to him: “Hokage-sama!”. 「砂より緊急連絡の鷹が来ました」 ” An urgent communication hawk has arrived from Suna” そう言ってカカシに小さな巻物を渡すと、通信班の忍は退室した。 As he was speaking, the s.h.i.+n.o.bi handed him a small scroll. The s.h.i.+n.o.bi from the Communications Corps then exited the room. カカシは巻物を広げた。 Kakas.h.i.+ spread out the scroll. 砂隠れの里に、うちはサスケが現れ、テロリストと接触。交渉ののち、テロリストを殺害した、とある。 ‘Uchiha Sasuke appeared in Sunagakure Village. He contacted terrorists. After negotiations, he killed the terrorists. 「いやいや…」 “No way…..” カカシはかぶりを振った。 Kakas.h.i.+ shook his head. 「起こりすぎでしょ」 “It seems that too many things are happening”
