Chapter 1689: Founding Festival with Shallow Vernal ⑪
That was really close. I was moving with s.h.i.+ro-san to the place where Olivia-san was, and fortunately, due to some kind of event, the road was empty and we were able to get there smoothly.
As soon as we got there, we saw Olivia-san being swept away by the flow of people, and we rushed to her rescue. It was really close. If she had been swallowed by that flow of people, it would have been very difficult to meet up with her.
[Olivia-san, are you alright?]
[………………………………]
[U- Ummm?]
Olivia-san, who I rescued as quickly as possible and held to my chest, had stiffened with her eyes wide open, seriously not moving even a bit. She was so beautifully frozen, as if time had stopped, that I got worried. When I called out to her, Olivia-san’s shoulders flinched in response immediately.
[Hahh!? A- Awawawawa, m- m- my apolo—-, ah no, I thank you for sav—-, n- no, my apologies for my impropriety, u- u- umm, you’re very robust, no, not that……]
[F- For the time being, please calm down!]
Just when I thought her mind had restarted, her mind now seemed to be bugged, as she started panicking. She was panicking so much that the word “frantic” had never fit her so perfectly up to this point.
At any rate, her speech was incoherent and she didn’t seem to have calmed down at all, so I first tried to calm her down.
[……Ah, y- yes…… I’ve shown you something unsight…… ly?]
[Unnn?]
That seemed to have worked, as Olivia-san regained some of her composure, but when her gaze moved and she saw the nearby s.h.i.+ro-san, she stiffened again.
[……Ah, S- Shallow Vernal-sama……]
[It’s been a while.]
In response to Olivia-san’s trembling murmurs, s.h.i.+ro-san spoke in her usual manner, but Olivia-san’s face didn’t just turn pale, her face directly became white…… and smoothly letting go of my hand, she slammed her forehead to the ground and prostrated herself.
[M- M- M- M- M- My apologies! I heard that Shallow Vernal-sama and Miyama Kaito-sama were present, so I came to offer my greetings. I solemnly swear that I had no intention of interfering with Shallow Vernal-sama’s time, and I only intended to offer a brief greeting before promptly departing! N- N- Not only did my misfortune trouble Miyama Kaito-sama, but I’ve also been unbelievably disrespectful for being late in Shallow Vernal-sama……]
[ ? ? ]
It seems that Olivia-san is concerned about being slow to notice s.h.i.+ro-san due to her getting stiff from nervousness, but Olivia-san, who was speaking with a level of determination greater than ever before, was somehow just like her.
Well, s.h.i.+ro-san herself just seemed to be puzzled at her words, seemingly wondering how exactly was Olivia-san being disrespectful, so it doesn’t seem like she considers Olivia-san’s actions as disrespectful.
Well, putting that aside…… Even though we’re out of the way, we’re still in the middle of the main street, you know!? If she’s gonna do all that, we would be in the center of attention…… Arehh? That didn’t happen?
Hmmm, we’re somehow not being noticed by anyone in an unnatural way. This must be Fate-san’s Authority or something like that at work. No, I’m rather grateful that this situation isn’t noticed by those around us but……
[For the time being, Olivia-san, please calm down.]
[I can’t. F- For me to do such blasphemy…… Even if one were to dismember and parade me through the streets, it wouldn’t be enough for the enormity of my sin…….]
[You didn’t commit any. I mean, s.h.i.+ro-san doesn’t even care about it…… Right?]
[Putting aside caring or not, I can’t even understand how our earlier exchange was disrespectful though?]
[It’s alright. I don’t understand it either…… However, Olivia-san seems to be bothered by it, so could you please tell her not to worry about it?]
Anyhow, Olivia-san is too serious and her faith in s.h.i.+ro-san isn’t half-hearted at all, so she’s very concerned that she has been rude to s.h.i.+ro-san, and even now, she’s so apologetic while kneeling in a dogeza, trembling, making me feel uncomfortable.
And so, when I asked s.h.i.+ro-san if she could tell Olivia-san that she didn’t mind, s.h.i.+ro-san nodded once before calling out to Olivia-san.
[Raise your head, Olivia.]
[Ha!]
[About the earlier matter, I don’t particularly mind. “You and Kaito-san also have the freedom to date each other”. However, it’s my turn today, so if you want to have your festival date with Kaito-san, do it next time.]
[……Hoehh?]
The Airhead G.o.d went and said something outrageous. And Olivia-san, stiffening like a cat cast out into s.p.a.ce, left quite the impression in my mind.
Airhead G.o.d : (She’s apparently being disrespectful…… I see, she was ashamed for interfering with my lovey-dovey date with Kaito-san. Come to think of it, I hadn’t informed Olivia about the SUPER WIN SYSTEM. I’ll explain to her the details now…… While I’m at it, I suppose “I’ll also make her memories here carry over to the original timeline”?)
