8. I Made A Friend
Several months after I began helping Alex with his work, I finally made a friend around my age.
His name is Urie and he is twenty-one years old, a year older than me.
He is a blond-haired, blue-eyed lady-killer who just became a Knight. I think that just a few years more and he’ll surely be a center of attraction in high society.
Although it could be said that it’s already happening…
He came across me during his patrol inside the royal palace and began talking to me.
It was then that I learned for the first time that this garden is owned by the royal family.
During that encounter, my language proficiency had already improved by leaps and bounds.
“Haruto, did you know that the 『bento』 recently became popular in the royal palace?”
One day, Urie said something like that.
“Yeah. I knew. I also occasionally make them.”
I never expected it to become popular at all.
Where could Alex be possibly eating the bento?
“Really? I would also like to eat Haruto’s bento by all means.”
The destructive power of a hottie’s request is different, isn’t it?
While trembling a little, I also decided that this is a good chance for my request.
“Then I’ll make you a bento tomorrow. In exchange, will you cut my hair? It grew so it’s quite a bother. Urie looks like someone with a good taste regarding matters like that.”
I want to entrust it to someone with a reliably good taste, instead of Alex who sometimes let his stubble grow for a very long time.
Besides, if I imprudently went to their equivalent of a hair salon in this world, I think there is the possibility that my black hair may cause problems. And so, I cannot readily go with that idea.
However, Urie became upset.
“No, no! You cannot do that, Haruto. Long hair suits you. That’s right, why don’t I give you something to tie up your hair in a bundle instead? As a gift for making me bento, that is.”
Urie declared arbitrarily, then promptly returned to his afternoon work.
It was not until the evening of that day that I forgot to ask Urie’s preference for the omelette.
