Chapter 12: Fretful — That's the criminal.

After Ye Zhen Zhen returned home, she idled her time away as she lay in her huge bed, feeling as if she was lying atop a pink-colored cream cake instead. She didn't know if it was a contribution of her walk or the fright she suffered just then, but her spirits had improved.

Rolling on the bed, she turned her head to look at the paintings displayed beside the bookcase. Light suns.h.i.+ne sprinkled down on it, causing the shading to look golden——indescribably beautiful. Ye Zhen Zhen quickly freed herself from her bed and rummaged through the left side drawer of the table for a pencil and white paper.

She had a pressing urge to draw something, but when she placed the tip of the pencil on the paper, she couldn't draw. This kind of feeling felt like her desire to yell in her nightmares, yet she was unable to.

She pursed her lips and lightly dragged the tip of the pencil against the white paper to draw an arc. It was as if she was looking for a room key; after the first stroke, each following stroke became what the heart wished for and the hand accomplished. She was like a fish returning to water, each cell extremely happy.

In the end, a sudden knocking on the door interrupted her.  She set down her pencil that had already shortened to a small stub and turned her head to look at the door. "Who is it?"

"It's me, Zhou Wen." Zhou Wen's voice came through the door, somewhat m.u.f.fled. Ye Zhen Zhen opened the door, and Zhou Wen smiled at her. She handed over a small, delicately wrapped box. "Rebecca's Super Dense Cheesecake, your favorite."

"Thanks." Ye Zhen Zhen glanced at the extended box. Although she simply couldn't remember who Rebecca was, she moved sideways to allow Zhou Wen entry into the room. Ye Zhen Zhen closed the door behind her. Zhou Wen looked all around and caught sight of the recently finished, abruptly begun drawings.

Ye Zhen Zhen was opening the cake on the table she normally ate on and didn't pay attention to her. Shortly after, she heard Zhou Wen's trill of questions. "What is this drawing of yours? So horrifying."

Ye Zhen Zhen had just cut into the cake, so she sent her an askance glance. "Oh, the hand in my dreams."

"Hand?" Zhou Wen frowned, unable to make out any clues. "Then what is this shadow?"

"Oh, that's the criminal."

"…" Zhou Wen was silently for a good while before asking another question. "Did you happen to watch too many cartoons recently?"

Ye Zhen Zhen didn't reply. She pulled out a chair so she could sit in front of the table. "Come eat cake."

Zhou Went set down the drawing in her hand and walked up to sit directly opposite her. She scooped up a small piece of cheesecake and placed it in her mouth. The taste of cheese in the cake was very dense and very worthy of the two words in its name, 'Super Dense.' Ye Zhen Zhen, however, set down her spoon after two bites.

Zhou Wen glanced at her. "What's up?"

"In the past, I really liked this?" Ye Zhen Zhen poured herself a gla.s.s of warm water. She wanted to wash away that dense taste of unctuous cheese.

Zhou Wen couldn't help but laugh. "I also didn't understand why you liked to eat this. It was just that whenever you ignored me, only if I brought you this would you open the door for me." After she said this, she also poured herself a gla.s.s of warm water. After she gulped it down, she winked at Ye Zhen Zhen. "I'll tell you a secret. I actually don't like this either."

That piece of Super Dense Cheesecake was thus placed aside and avoided, not of interest to anyone any more. Zhou Wen saw that Ye Zhen Zhen's complexion was not very good, so she didn't stay for long. She set down the drawings she had brought and left Ye Mansion. Ye Zhen Zhen sat on her bed and looked over the designs she had drawn. Each was a rough sketch drawn with colored lead. Although it wasn't particularly neat, the fas.h.i.+on designs far surpa.s.sed her expectations.

To say the least, none of the clothes were lace.

In fact, she didn't hate lace at all. A little bit as decoration was acceptable, but those inside her armoire…she could only describe it as demented.

Setting the design sketches to the side, Ye Zhen Zhen somewhat tiredly reclined on the bed. These designs, after a bit of improvement, might truly be able to be turned into clothes.

That night, Ye Zhen Zhen intentionally drank a gla.s.s of foreign milk before going to bed. Unfortunately, she still had a nightmare, as if the honor of having them did not allow her to glance back. That gla.s.s of foreign milk only had one effect: it allowed her to wake up at midnight to use the toilet.

The vanity mirror reflected her pale face, frightening her to to the point she nearly shrieked. Nightmares for several days running made her mood increasingly twitchy. She felt that she would collapse if this continued for any longer.

The next day, Ye Zhen Zhen intentionally put on light makeup, using the foundation to cover up her pale complexion and the dark circles under her eyes. The effect wasn't ideal at all, however, because Dr. Ji had scowled upon catching a glimpse of her.

Ye Zhen Zhen was somewhat discouraged. She glanced at the other doctor in the office——as luck would have it, this was the beautiful doctor she had met last time in the restaurant.

She immediately became even more discouraged.

"Dr. Ji, good morning." Choosing to ignore the beautiful doctor standing to the side with an unfriendly expression, Ye Zhen Zhen directly walked up to Ji Zhe Yan's office table.

Ji Zhe Yan let her sit down, his expression also a little unfriendly. "Why is your complexion so unsightly? Did you stay up late last night?"

"Every day, I go to sleep at 9:00PM. A primary school student doesn't sleep as on time as I am!"

"Then did you take your medicine on time?"

"I did. Unfortunately, I still have nightmares despite taking medicine."

Ji Zhe Yan stared blankly at her before his brows creased together again. "You still have nightmares?"

"Yes. I have them every night even more on schedule than great aunt."1

Ji Zhe Yan was silent for a moment. "You don't need to be anxious. I will give you medicine to help you sleep. You need to take it on your own every day before you sleep."

"Okay." Ye Zhen Zhen nodded before pulling out her drawings from her bag. She handed them over to Ji Zhe Yan. "Dr. Ji, look. This is the hand that pushed me down the stairs in my dream."

Ji Zhe Yan took the drawing offered by Ye Zhen Zhen. Although he hadn't studied psychology, he still saw the artist's fretful state of mind in this drawing. Apparently, the artist was under a great deal of pressure. He set down the drawing and looked at Ye Zhen Zhen. "Maybe it is because you have returned to the scene of the crime, it is giving you intense stimuli, which might have triggered the nightmares. After you return home, consume your medicine, don't think of anything, and sleep well."

"Mn." Ye Zhen Zhen nodded, her hand unconsciously tugging at the strap of her bag.

Ji Zhe Yan looked at her small movement and spoke up again. "But you cannot invariably depend on medication. Right now, your body is more or less recovered, so it is now appropriate for you to consider returning to school to attend cla.s.ses. Perhaps it will be able to lift your fretful mood."

"I can go to cla.s.s?" Ye Zhen Zhen stopped moving her hands. Her wide eyes gazed at him. If she could, then she really didn't want to stay at home.

Ji Zhe Yan nodded. "Returning to school might help you recover your memory as well, but you need to remember to rest. Don't let yourself get too tired."

"Okay." Ye Zhen Zhen felt that in this world, there probably wasn't anyone else who would have as much pa.s.sion about going to school as her. She looked at Ji Zhe Yan, who was prescribing her medicine, and shyly opened her mouth to say, "Dr. Ji, do you have time today? I want to treat you to a meal."

Ji Zhe Yan stopped writing and replied, "I am quite busy today. I have a consultation later as well."

"Oh, then I'll treat you next time." Ye Zhen Zhen was a little disappointed.

"Mn." Ji Zhe Yan nodded and finished writing the medical prescription, handing the paper over to Ye Zhen Zhen. "When you take the medicine, remember to read and clearly understand the dosage. This medicine can only be taken once a day."

Ye Zhen Zhen nodded in agreement. She had wanted to say something else when that beautiful doctor who had been sitting to the side the entire time stood up.  "Zhe Yan, let's go. It's nearly time for the consultation."

Zhe Yan! She said Zhe Yan again! Why is she allowed to call Dr. Ji, Zhe Yan!? Ye Zhen Zhen turned her head to glare at her, the fretful look in her eyes changing into a recurring, irascible glare.

The beautiful doctor ignored her like Ye Zhen Zhen had done and stood in the doorway, waiting for Ji Zhe Yan. Ji Zhe Yan capped his fountain pen and stood up from his chair. "Next week, I'll arrange for you a comprehensive physical examination. I'll notify you of the specifics later."

"Okay." Ye Zhen Zhen also rose from her chair and followed him out. Taking different roads and urging the horses on,2 Ye Zhen Zhen watched as Ji Zhe Yan left together with the beautiful doctor. She grimaced at that woman's back.

After returning home, Ye Zhen Zhen begun to make arrangements to go to school. First of all, she naturally needed to inform her dear uncle and aunt. As expected, this matter was met with strong opposition from Sun Qian and her husband. Ye Zhen Zhen stared at them, not conceding. "Uncle, Auntie, I am already an adult. I think I have the right to make decisions for myself."

Sun Qian pulled at her arm, opening her mouth with the intention to persuade otherwise. Ye Zhen Zhen seamlessly stepped backward and pulled her arm free. "I think you both also hope that I recover a bit of my memory earlier as well, right?"

Sun Qian's complexion quickly changed. She turned her head to look at Ye Kang Ping, but Ye Kang Ping wrinkled his brows and didn't say anything. Ye Zhen Zhen treated this silence as acquiescence and turned round to walk back upstairs.

It seemed that her guess was not wrong. Her uncle and aunt were more worried than her that she wouldn't be able to remember anything.

Informing her chauffeur to send her to school tomorrow, Ye Zhen Zhen consumed her medicine as Dr. Ji told her to. Nothing unexpected happened, and she fell asleep peacefully.

She took a nap until 4:00PM. Having not eaten lunch, she was naturally ravenous after waking up——although lately she hadn't been able to sleep well, her appet.i.te had still been very vigorous. She looked at the time and thought to herself, Housekeeper Zhou must have prepared dinner by now. She walked in the direction of the kitchen.

Indeed, housekeeper Zhou had prepared dinner, but she still needed a bit more time to finish. Given a cake to allay her hunger, Ye Zhen Zhen held the cake in her hands and walked back upstairs, but she didn't forget to tell housekeeper Zhou to carry her food upstairs later.

The cake was chocolate mousse. Ye Zhen Zhen finished a slice in less than five minutes. She had wiped her mouth, wanting to eat another piece when her cell phone, which had been placed atop the table, vibrated.

The person who sent the message was Dr. Ji.

Ye Zhen Zhen rapidly opened the message to read.

「After you consume the medicine, did you have a good rest? If you are feeling unwell anywhere, don't wait until the next appointment. You can contact me at any time.」

After she read this SMS, Ye Zhen Zhen's heart throbbed. Peng—peng— She felt that what the book said was correct. 'The most simplest things the person you like does gives you the greatest sense of satisfaction.'

「I slept very sweetly and just woke up. Thanks, Dr. Ji~ ^_^ But I'm worried that if I sleep too much during the day, I won't be able to sleep at night. If I suffer from insomnia, can I seek you out to chat?」

After Ye Zhen Zhen sent the message, she felt that she was a bit shameless, but she was also curious about how Dr. Ji would reply to her in the end.

Her cell phone once again vibrated.

「Sure.」

The seed of ecstasy rapidly grew, germinated, and bloomed in Ye Zhen Zhen's heart. Dr. Ji, he said I can! Hahahahaha oh ye!

「Dr. Ji, XOXO =3=」

Ji Zhe Yan sluggishly stared at the cell phone in his hand for a moment. He thought for quite a while before ultimating replying with one word. 「Mn」

Author's Note:

Ye Zhen Zhen stares at Ji Zhe Yan, who was in the middle of prescribing her medicine.  She shyly opened her mouth and asked, "Dr. Ji, will you go out with me?"

Dr. Ji: "…"

↑ Actually, I feel that when the true scene happens, it should be like this 【solemn face】

Thanks Su Tan. Little angel still throws a landmine. Muah~! Muah~! (づ ̄3 ̄)づ╭?~
