Chapter 37 – Neutralising The Poison?
Translator: Mr Voltaire
Editor: Master Shadow
As Xiao Yun extracted the poison, his mind became more and more hazy. In the next moment, he felt that it was about to take effect within his own body. Xiao Yun’s consciousness began to slip away as his eyelids trembled.
Even with his Life Martial Spirit, he was unable to instantly neutralise the poison, as it was simply too strong. Previously, when the Life Martial Spirit was extracting poison, Xiao Yun’s face would become extremely ashen.
While Xiao Yun performed his extraction, the woman in white’s condition became even worse. Her face was bright red and her eyes were completely out of focus. As she blinked with her long eyelashes, her eyes watered and her tongue moved along her beautiful and glistening lips.
“What sort of poison is this?” the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow wondered, sensing the changes in Xiao Yun and the woman in white.
Xiao Yun seemed to also notice the changes in the woman in white – it looked as if she had lost all sense of self.
“I…!” The woman in white spoke in a voice that could make one’s tendons limp and bones soft.
“What’s going on?” An expression of confusion appeared on his face. This pure G.o.ddess seemed to serious and n.o.ble all the time, so why would she suddenly appear so bewitching? Everything she did made her seem like a different person, which made Xiao Yun feel utterly confused.
As the poison erupted within them, the two people engaged in an intense ‘battle’. Eventually, their ‘battle’ finally finished, and the two of them fell unconscious.
Early the next morning, the sunlight shone in from outside the cave, causing the youth’s eyelids to twitch as he slowly opened his eyes.
“It’s morning?” Xiao Yun opened his eyes, his mind feeling incredibly heavy. At this moment, his eyelids twitched as he felt something strange.
“So soft.” A look of shock appeared in Xiao Yun’s eyes as he felt the woman beside him. After freezing in shock for a moment, he hurriedly looked over. What he saw caused him to be completely dumbfounded.
Lying on him was a soft body with tender and waxy skin. The young woman’s proud figure was deeply embedded within his mind; he had never seen anything like it before.
“Ah…”
The young woman yawned as she suddenly opened her eyes. Her eyes still seemed a bit hazy, but it didn’t seem like she remembered the events from yesterday. After feeling a cool breeze blow past, she felt a strange sense of fear as she blinked and discovered the youth lying beside her.
“You… I!” A look of embarra.s.sment appeared on her face as flames of rage started burning in her eyes. She became furious as she slapped her palm on the ground and jumped up, hurriedly covering herself with the clothes on the ground. Seeing the young woman’s expression, Xiao Yun also felt quite awkward as he remembered what happened the previous day.
“You beast! You actually took advantage of me while I was defenceless!” After clothing herself, a layer of iciness appeared on the young woman’s beautiful face. She coldly glared at the youth, a trace of murderous intent s.h.i.+ning through.
“You’re wrong; what happened isn’t like what you think.” Xiao Yun felt incredibly awkward as he hurriedly put on his clothes and explained, “You were poisoned and I was trying to extract it. I never thought things would turn out this way.”
“Extract the poison? You think you can do this to me just because you helped me extract poison?” The woman in white was still furious. Although she remembered how hazy her mind had been, she still couldn’t accept that she had lost her chast.i.ty just like that.
Xiao Yun felt quite helpless – he simply didn’t know that this would have happened either.
He had only wanted to help this young woman extract her poison. Who would have thought that his Martial Spirit would not be able to neutralise it, resulting in him becoming poisoned as well? After the poison took effect, he had lost all sense of rationality, resulting in this situation.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take responsibility,” Xiao Yun said sincerely as he faced the young woman.
“Haha, take responsibility?” The young woman tilted her head back as she laughed coldly then glared at the youth as she retorted, “How are you going to take responsibility? Hmph, you’re the same as all those men. All you wanted was to dominate and take advantage of me. You men are all the same!” The young woman’s voice was bone-chillingly cold and lace with killing intent. The iciness that emanated out from her could cause one’s heart to s.h.i.+ver.
Seeing the young woman like this, Xiao Yun’s heart ached. He just wanted to protect her and yet, he had ended up hurting her. This cruel twist of fate made him feel extremely frustrated. However, since the situation was like this, Xiao Yun had nothing to say, because this was reality. No matter what he said, what was done was done. Although he had harboured good intentions, they had led to disaster.
“What, you have nothing to say?” The young woman said as she coldly laughed. She felt that her entire heart had shattered and her composure crumbled.
Before, she had thought of this youth as her support and yet, what had happened? This caused her to lose all faith in the world. Once upon a time, she had thought that this world was quite beautiful and that there were still many good people.
Xiao Yun deeply breathed in and looked at the young woman seriously.
“If it can help you vent your anger, how about you kill me?”
“Alright, I’ll kill you right now then.” The woman in white’s eyes flashed as she picked up her sword from the ground. The sword light flashed as it pierced towards Xiao Yun’s chest. She wanted to see if this young man truly had the guts to die, or if he was just trying to use reverse-psychology on her.
The sword brought with it a sense of coldness. Xiao Yun looked at the young woman and did not move at all, his heart completely sealed.
The young woman, who was like a G.o.ddess from the Nine Heavens, had been hurt – this caused Xiao Yun’s heart to ache. “Perhaps after she kills me, she’ll feel better about this and gradually forget.”
He cast aside all his burdens, only hoping to take this pain away from the young woman, even at the cost of his life.
The sword pierced towards him and reached his chest in an instant.
Looking at the youth with his eyes closed, waiting for her to strike, the young woman’s heart slightly trembled.
“Is he being completely sincere?” the woman in white wondered.
“No, he’s definitely trying to shake my heart.”
After all that she had been through, the young woman felt suspicious towards everyone. It was as if there was no one in the world that she could trust.
The sharp sword in her hand had already reached the youth’s chest. The sword tore through his clothes and touched against Xiao Yun’s skin, causing a feeling of iciness to spread throughout his body. Xiao Yun felt a trace of pain, but compared to the coldness and despair he saw in the young woman’s eyes, it was almost negligible. In his heart, he simply wanted the young woman to be able to smile again.
“No!” The sword pierced into Xiao Yun’s body, causing blood to flow out. Seeing this, the conflicted young woman cried out as her mind went blank. Her hand let go of the sword as it fell to the ground.
Clang!
A metallic clang sounded out as the sword hit the ground, its tip dyed with the redness of fresh blood.
As the sword fell, the woman in white stared at the youth, scenes flas.h.i.+ng through her mind.
She recalled the first time she had met the youth. He had saved her from harm and had looked at her with such a pure gaze. He had also saved her from despair again a second time – he had become mad with rage for her sake and had slaughtered the evildoers who wanted to violate her.
His feelings towards her were incredibly sincere and pure; how could she kill him?
The woman in white’s long eyelashes trembled as she looked at the youth, whose eyes were still closed. Seeing the blood seep out from his chest, she felt a strange sense of heartache, and remembered the scene from the previous day.
Back when the poison had taken effect, the youth had done everything he could to extract the poison for her. Apart from him, who would sacrifice themselves so selflessly for her?
At that moment, the woman in white’s heart was completely moved.
