Meanwhile, Li Erqin had just finished was.h.i.+ng up and was getting ready to make the most of her time before sleeping when her phone buzzed again with an incoming text message.
She rolled over and unlocked her phone.
Oh, Ruan Mingxian.
(MissBookie: Hahaha! I can just imagine her expression, all disappointed and pouty that it’s not RS! Minodayz : me to! I‘D imagined her rolling her eyes even “again” look! lol)
She turned off the screen.
Turning onto her back, she looked upward, waiting for daybreak at Rong Si’s side of the world.
Probably because she was worn out from her day, but after waiting for some time, she found that she couldn’t keep her eyes from shutting.
When she woke up, the sun was s.h.i.+ning brightly. Abruptly, she sat up on her bed and checked the time on her phone: 06:45AM.
Alas, her text inbox was quiet, and there weren’t any incoming messages awaiting her.
Li Erqin had never thought the holidays could be this long drawn out. This was the first time she had ever felt this way. In fact, it had been so boring that she had completed all the school a.s.signments for the entire holiday in the first week itself. She had even completed the recording work that, at one time, had been so pressing and urgent. She didn’t even know when she had gotten around to completing them, but they were done.
This whole time, her phone continued to maintain dead silence. Rong Si had stopped calling or sending text messages. There was only a text that came in from Ruan Nuonuo, who had cautiously enquired if she had done any recording for radio broadcasting.
She had been upfront and open with her reply.
And now, an idle Li Erqin was staring morosely at her phone.
—- Why haven’t there been any text messages?
—- What did he have to say to me when he called the last time?
—- When will he be returning?
—- Would his text come if I blink my eyes?
(Minodayz : That is something I would have done….ermmm….wait a minute, I believe I’ve done that before too – deja vu)
As she indulged her runaway thoughts, there suddenly came a tinkling sound from the window, as if a small pebble had been thrown at the gla.s.s pane.
Li Erqin turned to look and, immediately, a second pebble was seen hitting the window, giving out a gentle d.i.n.k: “Ping.”
This time when she had her confirmation, she walked to the window and opened it to have a look.
The courtyard was littered with fallen leaves, and there was Peng Zige, bent over in search of yet another small pebble.
And by Peng Zige’s side, standing erect as a pen under the tree, was Rong Si. Wearing a black, long-sleeved jacket, he seemed tall and lanky. His hands were stuffed in his pockets as his head was tilted towards the window.
(Minodayz : THE BOYS ARE BACK….. Awwwww……)
The bright sunlight shone down on his brows and dark s.h.i.+ning eyes.

When he saw Li Erqin’s head poking out of the window, he smiled.
Li Erqin’s heart suddenly began to beat rapidly, and her brain spun into oblivion. She was so affected that she completely forgot about greeting them.
Peng Zige finally found the perfect pebble that met some unspoken criteria he had. He stood up, poised to catapult the stone towards Li Erqin’s window, when Rong Si stopped his hand.
He
turned his head in confusion.
Rong Si tipped his chin indicating for him to look towards the second storey window.
Peng Zige looked towards the window and saw the usually expressionless Li Erqin with her eyes wide open and alit with an incredulous expression.
It was rather amusing, and with a pfft sound, a laugh broke out.
Rong Si smiled along as well.
However, Rong Si’s smile was just too nice to look at.
He then took out his phone and pressed a few b.u.t.tons, before indicating to Li Erqin to look at her phone.
Li Erqin ran back into her room to grab her phone and then returned to the window. It was merely a few steps away, and yet, she felt a bit breathless on her way back.
“Rong Si,” she uttered.
Across the phone came Rong Si’s gentle laughter, followed by his clear, precise voice. “”*Want to come down and hang out?”
(T/N: Lit translation says want to come out and play.)
“Okay!” She immediately replied without an afterthought.
(Minodayz : No homework now aye LEQ!!! I love her quick reply.)
Peng Zige couldn’t resist leaning close to the phone to speak to her. “Hurry up and get down here! Su Zi has headed out already.”
Li Erqin nodded. “OK!”
Peng Zige looked at the closed front door of her home and frowned. “Are your mum and dad home?”
“Yes, they’re home.”
“Then you’d better be quiet.”
Li Erqin didn’t understand. “Why?”
“Don’t let them find out.”
Li Erqin was still perplexed. However, since Rong Si’s appearance, her brain was like a blob of gloop that was not capable of functioning normally.
They only caught Li Erqin saying “wait a moment”, before she hung up and disappeared from the window. Shortly after Li Erqin had changed into suitable clothes for going out, she appeared once again at the window. She then proceeded to stick one leg out the window.
An uncertain Peng Zige dithered to Rong Si. “Is she about to climb out the window?”
Rong Si wasn’t pleased with what was happening and furrowed his brows.
What happened next gave them both quite a scare. Li Erqin had nimbly, and without even a moment’s hesitation, launched herself and landed on the ground. She even proudly dusted her hands (*as if it was a piece of cake!)
(T/N: I’ve added the last bit – I could just see her smug look as the boys look on with mouth agape! lol)
Peng Zige stared, dumbstruck, as Li Erqin quickly scaled another wall to land right in front of them.
“You …” Peng Zige had to take a moment to recover before speaking, “…frequently climb down from there?”
Li Erqin shook her head. “Nope.”
Peng Zige asked, “Then how come it seems as if you’ve *done this before?”
(T/N: 熟门熟路 sumensulu ~lit. Familiar with the door and familiar with the road. Used to describe familiarity or frequent use.)
Li Erqin replied with some amount of pride, “I visualised in my mind for over *ten times (I actually think it’s more like a million times) how best to make my descent from here and concluded that that was the most perfectly scientific descent.”
Peng Zige was not coherent enough to even utter one word.
Li Erqin smiled and continued, “It most surely was a good descent.”
Rong Si couldn’t hold back any longer and burst out laughing.
Li Erqin glanced at him, blus.h.i.+ng. “You’re back?”
“Yup.”
“When did you get back?”
Rong Si regarded her with hooded eyes. His hair looked fine and soft, in complete contrast with his personality. He replied, “Last night.”
“Oh.”
Peng Zige finally recovered from the earlier a.s.sault (to his psyche) and urged them, “Should we hurry and get moving?”
However, Li Erqin piped up, “Wait a moment.”
Peng Zige turned back and asked, “What’s the matter?”
Li Erqin pointed to her indoor slippers. “I have to go change my shoes.”
Peng Zige was confused.

Then, just as Peng Zige had his tongue tied, and right before his eyes, Li Erqin confidently walked up to her front door and rang the doorbell.
From the other side of the door there appeared a refined lady. Her brows and eyes had some resemblance to Li Erqin’s as she looked at Li Erqin in surprise. “How come you’re outside?”
Li Erqin introduced Rong Si and Peng Zige by saying, “These are my cla.s.smates.”
Xu Yunshu smiled and greeted them.
Peng Zige reciprocated the greeting, utterly stunned.
Even Rong Si was a tad embarra.s.sed.
Xu Yunshu then looked at Li Erqin’s clothes and deduced, “You’re going out?”
“Yup.”
“Will you be back for dinner?”
“Not sure.”
Xu Yunshu turned and spoke to someone inside the house before turning back to Li Erqin. “Your dad asked if you need the driver to send all of you?”
Li Erqin was sitting on a low stool in the foyer, putting on her shoes. “No need. We can get there and back on our own.”
It wasn’t until the three of them were sitting in a taxi heading to the city before a perplexed Peng Zige started, “So, Li Erqin…”
“Yes?”
Minodayz: I could just see LEQ face light up when she laid eyes on RS. Her morose mood and reaction to RMX’s text was rather hilarious. AND that leap off the 2nd story bedroom window!!! My goodness…. I’m sure the boys were having heart palpitations!!! Meet the parents won’t you now!!! I’m too excited. The foursome are on their way to meet up – My ranting worked! ROFL! What would happen when LEQ and RS are back together? Til Friday y’all!!! –
Well I’m still on my roadtrip, so here are some of the things we got up to….
Cadbury Chocolate factory in Dunedin.
