‘Yes, yes,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Your Majesty, let your humble servant cook you dinner while you rest.’

‘You have my permission to go the kitchen,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Gu Jiao Wu kissed Qiao Tan Yuan’s forehead then he went to cook dinner.

The next seven days, Gu Jiao Wu and Qiao Tan Yuan spent their time relaxing on the island. During the mornings they swam and snorkelled. In the afternoons they read or watched TV together. During the nights they watched the stars and played strip chess… she usually lost and he won even if he lost.

On the eighth day of their honeymoon, Gu Jiao Wu and Qiao Tan Yuan met up with Du Lei Xin and Gu Jiao Mai at the resort near the Aegean Sea to fly back home together.

When Gu Jiao Wu and Qiao Tan Yuan returned home, they were happy to see Gu Ting Ding. On the weekdays, they worked and w.a.n.g Tu Ya looked after Gu Ting Ding. On the weekends they took Gu Ting Ding sightseeing.

A month later, Gu Ting Ding ran into the master room and she pulled Qiao Tan Yuan’s sleeve to wake up and take her out to play with Gu Jiao Wu.

‘Tan Yuan, if you’re tired then sleep in,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘I’ll take Xiao Bao out to play while you sleep.’

‘No,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘We were busy working all week. Xiao Bao will be sad if we don’t take her out together.’

‘OK,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

Gu Jiao Wu regretted picking up Gu Ting Ding from the Gu Mansion last night. Lately Qiao Tan Yuan was overworked, and she didn’t get enough sleep on the weekends to reboot because they took Gu Ting Ding out on the weekends.

Gu Jiao Wu pa.s.sed Qiao Tan Yuan a gla.s.s of milk.

‘Tan Yuan, have you considered offloading some of your workload to Qiao Jie?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked. ‘He looks too free to me.’

‘Qiao Jie has a lot on his plate too,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Qiao Tan Yuan drank a sip of milk, and she ran to the toilet to vomit.

Gu Jiao Wu and Gu Ting Ding followed Qiao Tan Yuan to the toilet.

‘Tan Yuan, are you OK?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked. ‘Is it the milk?’

‘I’m OK,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

‘You don’t look and sound OK,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘I’ll drop off Xiao Bao at the Gu Mansion, and I’ll take you to the hospital.’

‘It’s nothing,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘Perhaps I caught a cold.’
