Chapter 72: I’ve never hugged you this way before

They walked hand in hand . It was getting dark and the street lights were on .

Lin Xin looked up at the street lights and smiled, “I had parents . My father was called Lin Moyuan, and my mother, Xie Cong Wen . They were S University professors… No, they were S University professors in my previous life . ”

She let go of Lin Xinyu’s hand, turned around and pointed at S University behind her .

“I grew up here . And since I didn’t like traveling to foreign countries, and didn’t want to be too far apart from my parents, I chose to study here . ”

Lin Xinyu looked at her and smiled as if to say he knew everything .

“You knew about it?” Lin Xin asked .

Lin Xinyu shook his head and answered, “I don’t . ”

Lin Xin remembered how her parents pampered her . Suddenly, she felt like she was the happiest person alive and that there was nothing for her to be sad about in this world .

In a flash of joy, she clung to Lin Xinyu’s hands and spun around playfully as if she was a flower fairy in an animated film .

This was the first time Lin Xinyu saw her acting like a little girl .  All this time, he felt as if there was a missing piece in his heart, and only with Lin Xin could he feel less empty . However, seeing Lin Xin this way now, an overwhelming feeling welled up in his heart . ‘Gulp…’ His heart felt like it was about to jump out of his throat . It gave him a completely new feeling, as if he could chase the sun, making him fearless .

He happily lifted Lin Xin and gently stroked her neck . A faint waft of fragrance entered his nose . It felt like a strong wind had blown on water, sending a thousand ripples into his heart .  His heart was throbbing but he gritted his teeth and endured the pain . He hugged Lin Xin tightly, afraid that she would notice that something was wrong with his body .

Lin Xinyu had loved hugging her since they were small, but he had never hugged her as tightly as he did right now . She patted his back and said, “Okay, let’s go home . ”

“Yes . ” He found it hard to move and his steps were rather small .

Seeing how Lin Xin walked ahead of him, he clenched his teeth, chased after her, and held her hand tightly .

“Eh? Why are your hands so wet? Are you not feeling well?” Lin Xin turned and asked .

“Oh, it’s nothing, just rainwater . ”

While Lin Xin had a bizarre habit of a.n.a.lyzing others’ words, she was completely trusting towards people she cared for, believing whatever they said .

“It’s good that you’re fine then . ”

Hand-in-hand, the two walked some more, not even hailing a taxi .

The rain had stopped, so they decided to just keep on walking . After some time, they arrived at a secluded path and heard shouting coming from around the corner . Lin Xin’s heart stiffened . She instinctively pulled Lin Xinyu’s hand and took a few steps back .

Lin Xinyu immediately understood what she meant and started to leave with her when, from out of the shadows, a tall guy suddenly came out swearing .

“With your kung fu alone, you still dare to block me? Hmph! Tell your boss that I, Zhao Zihao, am not afraid of him!”
