The Most Majestic You
Chapter 15 Part 1
Qianxi put down the fork and knife. She had lost her appet.i.te and only wanted to escape.
She was unexpectedly blocked by Xu Jimo once she stepped out of the restaurant. His first words were, “I’m sorry.”
She raised her head innocently. “What…...what is it?”
Based on his level of understanding the ent.i.ty known as “Qianxi”, she would be bothered by any words that went out of bounds. Cheng Yang’s joke must’ve gone further than she could bear?
So it was normal for her to deny it.
“I’ll warn them to watch their language in the future.” Xu Jimo lifted his wrist and looked at the watch. “There’s a staff meeting at eight o’clock. You need to attend.”
“Oh……,” She responded absentmindedly.
Xu Jimo took out a badge from his pocket and was going to put it around her neck. “Can you find the location? Do you want me to take you over there?”
“No, I can do it myself!” Qianxi stepped back to place the badge on herself.
Xu Jimo let go of his hand and got to the point, “Do you plan on keeping your distance from me for the entire compet.i.tion?”
“......” Having been seen through, Qianxi stood embarra.s.sed in silence.
It felt like she was back in school. The entire cla.s.s would unanimously find great interest one day in a pair or two of their fellow cla.s.smates. Though they were merely friends, but by the end of it all, they couldn’t face each other less they draw further unwanted attention. It just made most situations extremely awkward.
But…...he really did seem to make additional effort to take care of her.
You see! Just because someone had said something, it becomes a mental suggestion. Any action could be interpreted differently!
She really hated this kind of feeling; it made her uneasy no matter what she did.
Xu Jimo understood now and subconsciously tried to touch her head. His hand stopped in the air then retracted back. “I know.”
A heavy silence fell between the two.
He finally spoke, “The conference room is on the third floor. Turn right after you walk out of the elevator.”
“Oh…...ok.” She turned to look for the elevator.
She was a little bit frightened when she saw the crowd after the elevator opened. She stiffened her shoulders and courageously squeezed into the elevator.
Once inside, her frustration began to show on her face.
It was as if she had done something wrong.
Cheng Yang came after the elevator door closed out of breath. “Young lady boss just left like this! I was planning on explaining to her.”
Xu Jim leaned on the hallway with his arms crossed in front of him. He lit up a cigarette. ‘What do you want to explain?”
Cheng Yang then noticed his icy cold att.i.tude. He was too afraid to look at the boss’ eyes. “That…...we joked around and went too far. Boss, you know, when we guys are together, we usually joke about anything, dirty jokes included. It just blurted out while we weren’t paying attention. Ai, young lady boss usually looked like a very open person, why did she get mad?” He scratched the back of his head.
Actually, what he said was reasonable.
Li Cang and Cheng Yang were always talkative. Though they had not gone so far before, but they were constantly joking around. Qianxi always went along with it with a cheerful laugh. It never seemed like she cared.
Why, after they landed, did she…...suddenly become so sensitive.
Qianxi was now in the conference room. Other translators were all dressed in office attire, with copious amounts of makeup. They kept writing down notes seriously and professionally. But she was like a rookie who had smuggled herself onto the playing field. She listened in a daze; the only thing she learned was that they would be shooting a video for each team on their preparation for the upcoming compet.i.tion. The translators must be on the scene and be in the video.
She had to be in front of the camera!
She would be filmed for the first time working as a translator…...it would be very embarra.s.sing if she said something wrong and it was recorded on the camera.
Why was she so confident in herself and volunteered to be the translator? Why didn’t she just stay an aloof and cold boss? Why did she ask to be a gofer!
Qianxi who had asked for all these troubles for herself wanted to tear her past self apart into a hundred pieces for being so stupid.
Maybe she looked very lonely, as a pretty lady sat next to her with a smile and started to chat with her, “Are you KG’s staff?”
Qianxi suddenly recovered from her wandering mind. “Uhm…...yes.”
The lady’s eyes and eyebrows were curved. “Can I get an autographed picture of K G.o.d?” She lifted her own badge. “I’m the MoonTV anchor. I’m the commentator for the wild card compet.i.tions.”
“Ah, it’s you? Xiaoyue?” No wonder she looked so familiar. She was a famous G.o.ddess in the video game circle and currently the most popular commentator. She was actually prettier in person.
“Yes, that’s me.” Xiaoyue enthusiastically exchanged contact information with her. “You must let me know when you get his autographed picture! I entered the esports circle because of him. And it’s not easy to see him reappear to play a compet.i.tion!”
Xiaoyue held her hand before they departed. “I’m so envious of you…...it was quite unusual for KG to hire a female manager. I would have gone and applied for it if I knew it earlier! You’re really lucky!”
Qianxi said goodbye to her with a stiff mouth. She resentfully thought to herself: who was she calling lucky! She made her way in by dumping real money on it. She was the actual boss behind the scene! These ordinary people had a pair of eyes without eyeb.a.l.l.s!
Never mind. In those kung fu novels, wasn’t the most powerful boss always brooming the ground in some temple at the beginning?
Low key, Ye Qianxi, needed to keep a low profile.
