Chapter 22

22 – City Of Death

I’m such a fool.

Lu Qiu was walking on an chaotic street. The zombies had become exceptionally berserk, wrecking everything within sight.

Lu Qiu had removed his new Disguise Gla.s.ses; he was’t disturbed as he walked amongst them.

As if everything around Lu Qiu had nothing to do with him.

A real fool. Lu Qiu raised his head and looked at the distant figure of the level-4 infected wrecking havoc, just like a mythical beast.

Tsk … nearly 900 lives.

Lu Qiu walked in the direction of the mythical beast wrecking havoc.

But his mind was somewhere else.

Should I have given it to him?

And then just let him escape?

But that final scene; Lu Qiu couldn’t bring himself to pull the trigger.

“f.u.c.k …”

Lu Qiu threw a flying kick at a zombie.

“Ah. Anyway, that guy is infected with the Blacklight Virus.” Lu Qiu breathed out, giving went to his emotions: “In the end, he’ll turn into a monster. He’s already dead, no longer a human, but a monster in human clothing.”

Just like me.

One day, he will stand before Lu Qiu as a monster. Lu Qiu was convinced of that, so long as this world’s Doomsday continues.

“The next thing to do is …” Lu Qiu stood on a shaking street, watching the distant figure of the level-4 infected wrecking havoc while being embroiled in a fight not with frost but flames!

The level-4 infected was issuing powerless laments as it’s flesh was being gnawed by those merciless flames.

The figures of armored vehicles could be vaguely seen at the end of the street, with several armed helicopters flying above.

Gunfire rumbled endlessly.

The military had already began operations. A G.o.dzilla-like mythical beast had suddenly emerged, how could they stay still?

The one fighting against the level-4 infected was probably Major Sully who was one of humanity’s strongest Espers.

What about … the silver-haired young woman?

Had she already entered the belly of the infected? or was she rescued by the military?

But the notification that Lu Qiu received from the System gave him a hint.

“Hee, there’s a hint of a human’s fresh blood.”

Among the putrid smell, Lu Qiu detected a trace of a cold and refres.h.i.+ng hint of blood.

The blood gave Lu Qiu a lot of information about it’s master; a young woman … and she’s on the verge of death … her soul was gradually being frozen.

Neither eaten nor saved, but rather hiding in the darkness while seriously injured. Awaiting death?

“However, I found you.”

Lu Qiu followed the hint of blood.

In a blind alley, far away from the battle field. There were no zombies roaming this alley.

Occasionally, a few rats would flee in disarray.

At the end of the blind alley, a wall was stained with blood.

“Er … he … he … ha …”

Faint breathing resounded in the alley.

Lu Qiu followed the smell, before arriving at the alley and seeing her sitting slumped in the alley. The one who had been majestic alike a Valkyrie.

Was currently in a very sorry state.

The pure white Exorcist uniform was tainted by foul blood. Her abdomen was pierced through … blood flowing out of the sinister-looking wound. The young woman’s long silver hair scattered on the ground was also tainted by foul blood.

But the

truly fatal wound was on her chest.

Her heart was pierced through.

Now she could only lean against the wall and await death.

Or become a monster like those zombies!

Gradually, her consciousness was dissipating, her eyes were dimming, and the sounds coming from her were becoming fainter.

Footsteps. The exceptionally distinct footsteps replaced the sound of her heartbeat and reverberated in her mind.

Under the cover of darkness, she saw a pair of vaguely distinct scarlet pupils.

“Save …” She said instinctively, but her injuries robbed her of her vocal projection.

“Do you want to live?”

But apart from the footsteps, another sound came from the depths of the darkness and echoed in her mind.

“It’s truly amazing.”

“Your genes shouldn’t belong to the Church. These destructive genes would make a creature from the shadows shudder from excitement or submit from fear.”

“You forgot your name, and don’t even know who you are, nor when you appeared in this world, right?”

How … how does he know?

There was only a trace of a thought left of the young woman’s consciousness who was on the brink of death. She had no memories of when she arrived at this world and was adopted by the organization known as Church, it was all blank. She had no past, didn’t know who she was, nor how she came to be.

“I can grant you a new life, set free the power lying dormant inside you, and you’ll know who you are … there’s only one condition.”

Lu Qiu gradually approached the silver-haired young woman, and whispered beside her ear.

“Everything, whether your soul or body, give me everything … isn’t it a worthy transaction?”

To know … who I am? Under this condition, the last struggle in her mind vanished.

Although she was all alone in this world, and just wanted to know where she came from … but she still wanted to keep on living!

Lu Qiu watched her attentively.

The reason why Lu Qiu hadn’t just killed her, but instead had said so much to her, was because of a single thing, which is, he received notifications from the System when he had just laid eyes on her.

“Does that mean that everything that is called imagination can be exchanged for? No wonder characters can’t be exchanged, right … resurrecting an ordinary life form already requires ten billion points, how could it be so easy to summon a creature out of thin air?”

Until now, Lu Qiu had been puzzling over a matter, which is, in the System, there were life forms from human imagination to be exchanged for.

But they were grayed out, and no matter how many Despair Points Lu Qiu had gathered, it was to no avail.

As they didn’t exist, Lu Qiu could very well imagine the price to create them.

But this strange world provided Lu Qiu with some amusing things.

“Although I don’t know why G.o.d would do something so perverse.”

Lu Qiu watched the silver-haired young woman in front of him.

“But this child … a genuine Lich King … awaken the memory lying dormant inside you, and then … become mine.”

Lu Qiu waved, and agreed to the System’s suggestion.

An ice-blue l.u.s.ter flowed out of Lu Qiu’s fingertips, before wrapping around the already dead silver-haired young woman.

“What’s this?” Lu Qiu raised his left hand and found a strange seal on it.

A hexagram seal formed from scarlet blood …

It’s … familiar, as if I’ve seen it before.

Lu Qiu watched the strange mark as he carefully searched through his memories.

I remember now!

But right at this moment.

The ice-blue l.u.s.ter wrapped around the already dead young woman suddenly burst open.

Just like a b.u.t.terfly breaking out of its coc.o.o.n.

The young woman once more appeared before Lu Qiu. She was stark naked, her skin lacked any tinge of blood, and her long silver hair was still the same. Just that on her head, there seemed to be a pair of …

Cat’s ears?

It was really … a pair of cat’s ears, and their color was similar to that of her hair.

And on her chest, where her heart should be, there was nothing.

Indicating that the young woman didn’t had a heart.

In front of her, a b.a.s.t.a.r.d sword emitting soul-freezing cold was inserted into the ground. The hilt of the b.a.s.t.a.r.d sword had a horned sheep skull adorn it, with ice-blue radiances being spread from the skull’s eyes.

Frostmourne, the runeblade of the Lich King who was the ruler over ten million undead creatures.

“This … is not a good place to sleep.” Lu Qiu pulled Frostmourne out of the ground. The cold emitted from the b.a.s.t.a.r.d sword didn’t harm Lu Qiu, he didn’t even felt any change in temperature.

Because it couldn’t heart it’s owner.

Lu Qiu exchanged a cloak from the System, and then covered the naked young woman.

He picked up the unconscious young woman, before carefully listening to the berserk noise from the city.

As well as the howls of the giant beast.

The troops stationed in the city, including the Major, were dealing with the level-4 infected.

The defense of the city’s surroundings was at its weakest.

Lets break out!

Let’s Leave this city after killing every human barring my way!

“It’s time to leave … to bring despair to this world.”

After Lu Qiu left the alley.

Large amounts of scarlet tentacles suddenly sprang out of the ground, before binding armored vehicles and impaling soldiers.

In two days time …

In two days, the city had already been run into the ground by the Blacklight Virus.

More, Lu Qiu wanted more cities, the entire world, everything …

Therefore, it was time to leave.
