Within the darkness, there was a beam of light.
It was white in color and it appeared very gentle.
This beam seemed to have come from the sky as it s.h.i.+ned towards the boundless desert.
And with it, one could see that this part of the desert was filled with a hazy substance–air filled with death qi! It had a kind of richness which even the naked eyes could discern.
Hūchī!
Wherever that light pa.s.sed, a series of sharp piercing sounds stirred, and the air that was rich in death qi dispersed.
Pā!
Suddenly, a light sound sounded from within that boundless desert.
It could be seen that after that beam of white light touched the ground, it chose not to stay for too long but to directly pa.s.s through the surface and enter the solid ground.
……
Someplace above the seemingly bottomless abyss, a greyish-white coc.o.o.n was buried. Within the coc.o.o.n was a faintly discernible silhouette.
Wēng!
When the beam of white light shot into this coc.o.o.n, a series of humming resonances sounded out.
In the next second, the coc.o.o.n suddenly jolted.
Lying within was a pretty handsome youth who looked to be around 15 to 16, but his complexion unexpectedly appeared to be deathly pale.
At this moment, the youth suddenly opened his eyes.
Wēng!
Two strange and enchanting red streaks of light swept past his eyes in a flash. As his eyes opened, his complexion began to turn rosy. At least it was no longer the horrifyingly deathly pale complexion from before.
The boy's name was Su Yu. (added by reviewer)
As Su Yu opened his eyes, his eyeb.a.l.l.s slightly moved and shortly afterward, a confused expression emerged on his face.
“I…Where am I?”
Su Yu’s throat issued out a light sound as he asked himself. With the aid of the pale, green light, Su Yu was able to clearly see that he was surrounded by thick rock walls. Looking at the structure of the rock wall and relying on his many years of archaeology experience, he knew that he should currently be somewhere underground.
Hōng!
Just after Su Yu had voiced this thought to himself, a burst of a violent pop resounded by his ears. Afterward, he could feel that the coc.o.o.n he was currently in was being rapidly pulled by a mysterious force.
When Su Yu came to his senses, he had already appeared in the desert where everywhere was filled with the hazy substance. He looked at the abyss that was behind him. It looked eerie, and he could almost hear an creepy laughter from within. He shuddered. Soon after, he had a confused look on his face.
So, where was he now?
Could it be that he was now not at one of the excavation sites of a tomb? He clearly remembered that a second ago, he was with his colleagues, and they were excavating a tomb from an unknown period. Just after they had entered the tomb, what caught their eyes was a cauldron, and below it were numerous skulls that were uncountable with just their naked eyes. As for those skulls, they were positioned in a pattern which seemed to resemble the Nine Palaces Eight Trigrams from the Book of Changes. That being the case, it appeared to have mixed in with the other doors.
At that time, his eyes revealed his excitement upon witnessing this scene. Shortly afterwards, his gaze once again landed on the giant bronze cauldron.
It was a three-legged bronze cauldron around 10 feet tall, and on its body was an engraving of mysterious texts and lines. Regarding those texts, even he who was born in a family with an archaeological background could not understand them.
He also didn't know whether at that time, it was his head that became feverish or something else, but he unexpectedly disregarded his colleagues’ opposition and directly climbed into the giant bronze cauldron. After entering, his vision turned black. Following that, he then appeared in this strange and unfamiliar place.
“I’m really seeking my own death ah!” Su Yu severely scolded himself in his heart.
“Ah!”
It was at this moment that Su Yu suddenly felt a slight pain in his chest as if a blazing flame was burning his skin. In the next second, he tore the part of the s.h.i.+rt which covered his chest area. After tearing it, he saw a picture on his chest. Su Yu was momentarily petrified.
It was that cauldron! That giant bronze cauldron!
Currently, on Su Yu's chest was a picture of a cauldron, and this cauldron was exactly the same as the one he had seen in the tomb. The most crucial point was that the picture was extremely clear. Even the texts and lines on the body of the cauldron were so vivid that Su Yu was able to discern them.
This scene further caused the current Su Yu to nearly collapse! That cauldron, why did it appear on his chest?
Confused. At the moment, what Su Yu felt other than confusion was more confusion. He looked around and his heart was lonely. At present, he did not know where he was, so he could only walk forward aimlessly.
Hence like this, Su Yu did not know how long he had walked in this desert. While walking, he suddenly noticed that the hazy substance in his surroundings began to thin down.
Suddenly, Su Yu heard a burst of deafening explosions.
On the next second, the scene that appeared in front of him caused him to be utterly shocked.
In the sky were two figures stepping on the air—they were fighting intensely.
One of them was a man in green clothing. He was holding a 7-foot long sword and was flying at high speed! The other was an old man in black clothing. He was holding a paper umbrella that was pitch black like the color of ink and was walking step by step in mid-air!
The man in green clothing would often wave his sword, and 1,000 to 10,000 streaks of s.h.i.+ning sword light would shoot out from around his body. Also at the same time, numerous swift and fierce sword qis revolved around the man near his heart!
On the other side, the old man in black clothing rotated his black paper umbrella, rotating it non-stop. As for the black paper umbrella, while it was being spun, from within it, black evil spirits permeated out. It was as if they had come from the netherworld as the howls and screams of those unrested ghosts could be heard!
However, from what he could see, the man in green clothing clearly had the upper hand, and the old man in black clothing could only defend.
Upon seeing this scene, Su Yu’s mind completely sunk into chaos.
What’s this? Are they filming some fantasy movie? No, if this was some fantasy movie, the pressure I’m currently feeling from wouldn't be like this, would it?
Why are there no suspension ropes on those two bodies, and what’s with the dominating pressure? Besides, those 10,000 sword lights in mid-air and those black evil spirits couldn’t be fake!
Su Yu bewilderedly watched the faraway dogfight, and his mind was a complete mess.
On the other side, the fight had already reached its climax!
“Ye Jian Xing! What do you actually want to do? Must the two of us stake our lives till only one can live?” The old man in black clothing used his black paper umbrella to block the man in green clothing’s sword strike before roaring loudly at him.
“What do I want to do?” The man in green clothing who was called Ye Jian Xing snorted and in the next moment, his body retreated backward in a flash. He wasn’t angry but was smiling. With a single hand, he lifted his long sword and pointed it at the old man in black clothing. His expression could no longer be described by using the word 'enraged.' “Old Ancestor Yin Mo, 10 years ago, for the sake of refining the Netherworld Yin Flame Umbrella, you did not hesitate to ma.s.sacre my Da Xia Dynasty’s district that held 100,000 citizens, using their flesh, blood, and spirit to nourish the spirit tool. You clearly knew that amongst those 100,000 citizens were my wife and my soon to be a month-old daughter. I came with the hatred towards my wife and my daughter’s killer, and you still ask me what do I want to do? In that case, I will tell you! I want to kill you!!!”
“d.a.m.n it, Lao Zi 1 had already said that it wasn’t intentional. If Lao Zi had known that your wife and daughter were at that G.o.dforsaken district, Lao Zi would not have chosen that place to refine my Netherworld Yin Flame Umbrella!” The old man in black clothing who was known by the t.i.tle Old Ancestor Yin Mo roared back at Ye Jian Xing in defense.
“Stop talking nonsense, give me your life!!!”
Ye Jian Xing was apparently angered by Old Ancestor Yin Mo’s words. Pointing his long sword at him, he sped rapidly, thrusting his sword at Old Ancestor Yin Mo!
“Do you really think that this Lao Zi’s life can be taken so easily? Hey hey, if you want to take this Lao Zi’s life away, then Lao Zi also cannot do away without dragging you, Da Xia’s King, to be buried together with me!” Old Ancestor Yin Mo gave a malevolent laugh. Shortly, with his opened Netherworld Yin Flame Umbrella, Old Ancestor Yin Mo welcomed Ye Jian Xing’s move as he charged directly towards him!
Boom boom boom!
It was almost like the reaction between calcium carbide and a spark, and the two were once again tangled in a dogfight.
Su Yu was hiding behind a small mound and watching the fight, and his expression had already turned extremely bitter. After hearing the dialogue between the man in green clothing and the old man in black clothing, if he still could not understand, then he would really be an idiot.
“d.a.m.n it…I couldn’t have traversed through s.p.a.ce!” Su Yu could not restrain his emotions. He looked up and roared at the ash-colored sky.
“Who!?”
“Who!!!”
Just after Su Yu roared out his frustration, Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo who were previously fighting, suddenly stopped. Together, they bewilderedly cried out.
Silence!
The response to Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo was only a spell of silence.
At the moment, Su Yu was already hiding behind a small mound and was tightly covering his mouth with his hands. He dared not make even the slightest sound.
But, who was Ye Jian Xing?! He’s the King of Da Xia Dynasty at the Southern Mysterious Domain. He had already reached the 6th Stage of the Nirvana Realm! With a sweep of his mind, very quickly, he had determined where Su Yu was currently hiding.
Zhēng!!!
Ye Jian Xing pointed his sword and a sharp sword light flashed towards the mound.
Boom!
In an instant, the whole mound with the height of an adult disintegrated.
“Cough cough cough…”
After the smoke and dust had dispersed, Su Yu’s figure gradually appeared in front of Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo. When the two saw Su Yu, they were immediately stupefied and their gazes froze.
This wasn’t something they should not be shocked about.
As it turned out, the place where they were at was, nevertheless, the continent’s most terrifying as well as most mysterious place —— the G.o.d Burial Desert.
The G.o.d Burial Desert, all year round, was surrounded by death qi. In here, the death qi was already so dense to the point that it could cause people’s hair to stand up in fright. When ordinary mortals came in, the slightest bit of contact with the qi located here would immediately turn him into a corpse. Even strong and powerful beings like Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo could only dare to step into the periphery of the G.o.d Burial Desert. They dared not move the slightest bit deeper into the G.o.d Burial Desert. Even if they were to do so, they still had to activate their spiritual power to protect their bodies or else the death qi in the air would enter and immediately corrode them from the inside out.
But now, standing right in front of Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo was an ordinary person who was not the slightest bit affected by this place’s death qi. Hence, how could this not cause the two to be shocked?
“Cough cough cough…”
Su Yu, who was nearly choked to death by the smoke and dust, had finally eased down with difficulty. Seeing that Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo had already long stopped fighting and were looking at him with stupefied expressions, he suddenly felt as if he was suddenly being pressured directly under Mount Tai.
“Well, it looks like I had once again invited death!” Su Yu scolded himself in his heart.
“Hēi hēi…” Su Yu suppressed the panic in his heart and forced a laugh while rubbing his palms together. “Erm…you…please continue! I’m only pa.s.sing by…pa.s.sing by…you can continue…continue…”
On hearing Su Yu’s words, both Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo instantly had a strange expression on their faces.
Seeing that those two had no response, Su Yu suddenly had a headache. He pointed behind him and asked, “Did I bother you two by standing here? If that is so, then I’ll take my leave first hā, goodbye!” Su Yu waved his hand at the two and hurriedly retraced his steps.
When Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo saw the direction where Su Yu was walking to, their eyes enlarged. This was because the direction Su Yu was heading to was the center of the G.o.d Burial Desert, and they could also clearly see that behind Su Yu was a trail of distinct footprints.
“Could it be that this child had walked out from the center of the G.o.d Burial Desert?” Ye Jian Xing and Old Ancestor Yin Mo exclaimed in their hearts.
Right now the two had already completely forgotten about their previous life and death battle and all of their attention was now on Su Yu.
