Chapters 3 and 4 She permitted Tian Xiao to help her heal the wound. Tian Xiao felt very happy. He crouched next to Yu Yao, and pushed her clothes down so that he could see her shoulder. He wasn’t shy about looking at a woman’s body, but instead, poked her white shoulders curiously. When he saw Yu Yao glaring at him with displeasure, he tactfully stopped, and gazed at the wound on her shoulder. “So much blood…” He softly murmured this, almost as if he had been frightened. Yu Yao was about to say, If you can’t heal me then don’t come close to me, when Tian Xiao suddenly exploited the opportunity to clamp his mouth over her injury drenched with blood! The warm lips softly sucked on her wound, as she felt a slight sting and a curious numbness within her body. Yu Yao was so shocked, her eyes went wide. After her shock, she could not contain her fury. She pushed him aside, but because her shoulders had exerted too much force, more blood began to flow out of the wound. She coldly asked, “Do you really want to die?” “I’m helping you heal your wound.” Tian Xiao, who had been pushed onto the ground, felt somewhat wronged. “When I was little, and I accidentally cut my finger, my Imperial Mother helped me heal it like this.”
Yu Yao was so angry she couldn’t speak a word. But when she thought about it, when the previous dynasty had died out, the former crown prince had only been six-years-old. Right after he learned how to speak, he was thrown into a prison. His temperament was just like that of a child, so how would he understand how to heal a wound? “Don’t get close to me again, otherwise don’t blame me for being vicious.” Tian Xiao nodded and sat down, hugging his legs. His blank gaze still fixed itself on her. Yu Yao turned a blind eye to him and shrugged her clothes back on. She closed her eyes and returned to sleep. When she woke up in the middle of the night, Yu Yao felt extremely warm all of a sudden. Her forehead felt as if it was almost about to burn up, like it was scalding hot. At first, Tian Xiao hugged his legs as he lay curled up on the floor sleeping, but when a cool wind blew into the prison and woke him up, he dazedly came to. After he rubbed his eyes, he saw that Yu Yao’s face was dripping with cold sweat. Her breathing was coa.r.s.e and heavy, like a heavy wind. “Yu Yao?” He called her name. Not receiving a response, he hesitantly s.h.i.+fted over to her side. “How are you doing?” “Don’t… touch me.” Yu Yao rasped, but she already didn’t have the energy to push Tian Xiao aside. Tian Xiao felt uncomfortable, and was momentarily unable to cope with the situation. He pushed Yu Yao’s clothes down again, and saw that the wound on her shoulder had become inflamed. He began to panic: “Are you about to die?” Just like his Imperial Mother… Yu Yao’s breathing moved his hair. Tian Xiao clenched his teeth, and decided that it didn’t matter if she hit him or not. He put his mouth to her shoulder, half sucking, half licking, using his saliva to wash her wound clean. The weird sensation on her shoulder made Yu Yao struggle to focus. She turned around and saw the head buried in her shoulder. With great effort, she whispered, “Dengtu Zi[1]…” [1] Dengtu Zi is a famous lecherous character But he was using everything he had to save her. If this type of a wound had poison in it… Yu Yao didn’t understand why this crown prince would randomly treat her so well, just like she did not understand how deep the fears of loneliness could be to someone who had lived in this place for ten years. The next day, Yu Yao was still powerless, but her fever had somewhat gone down. Her consciousness had also sobered quite a bit. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw two bloodshot eyes staring back at her. No matter how calm she usually was, her astonishment still made her suck in a bit of air. “Are you better now?” Tian Xiao’s hoa.r.s.e voice carried exhaustion with it. He had not slept for the entire night, but instead spent the whole time staring at Yu Yao fixedly. He was afraid that if he wasn’t mindful, this woman would not wake up ever again. Yu Yao’s shoulder was still painful. Her clothes were too dirty, so Tian Xiao didn’t help her put them back on. After she heard Tian Xiao’s question, she remembered the warm feeling on her shoulder last night, and her face immediately reddened. She looked up at the round hole in the sky, and coldly replied, “Yes.” After a long period of silence in the prison, Yu Yao seemed to squeeze two words between her teeth, “Many thanks…” But after she had waited for a long time, she still had not heard Tian Xiao’s response. She looked over, and found that Tian Xiao was already curled up on the floor, sleeping. This man…was really like a child. — Yu Yao kept a record of how long she had been in this cell by carving marks in the cell wall. Five days, ten days. She was always silently waiting, waiting for someone to save her. Meanwhile, over this period of time, Tian Xiao thought that he completely understood her now. Every night, he would fall asleep next to her, as they mutually warmed each other wonderfully. Everyday, he would ask her incessant questions and speak so many words to the point that he never stopped speaking. And then one day, Yu Yao was so bored that she began to reply to him in one or two sentences, but most of the time, Tian Xiao was the only one talking. After a despondent last few days, Yu Yao slowly began to absorb the words that Tian Xiao spoke to her, unlike in the past. She also finally answered the questions that he asked her. In this place, they tried to pa.s.s the time together. “Why would you be thrown in here?” One night Tian Xiao curiously asked Yu Yao. “Because of a mission.” “What mission?” “Killing people.” Her tone was cold, making Tian Xiao so afraid that he began to tremble. After a while, he asked hesitantly, “Did you fail and get caught?” “No.” Tian Xiao wasn’t some kind of enemy, so she didn’t keep him in the dark, “I have come here as bait. This means that after my partner finishes his mission, he will definitely come and save me.” But after she finished, Tian Xiao immediately threw himself at her from where he sat and grabbed her wrist. “You’re leaving?” His desolate tone made it seem as if he was about to start crying. Yu Yao was thrown off immediately. She didn’t get the chance to start speaking again, when the steel fence above them suddenly produced a soft banging sound. The two of them looked up, and they saw that the prison had actually been opened from the outside. “Yu Yao, it’s time to leave.” The man outside was indifferent. She didn’t think that they would come so quickly or so coincidentally. Her eyes flickered from place to place, and then she looked at Tian Xiao who had already gone dumb from everything going on. A sudden shred of indecision flashed through her heart. She… was leaving, but then what would happen to him? Perhaps she had held up too much of their time, as another girl outside called her, “Yu Yao, what are you doing? Let’s go!” As she said this, she stuck her head into the hole. “Whoa, in such a short period of time, when did you have time to pick up a little lover?” Tian Xiao became more panicky, as he grasped her arm tightly. His already wan knuckles became whiter. Yu Yao didn’t move. Her wounds had yet to heal, but she could easily throw Tian Xiao up. But now she could not move… she didn’t have the heart to move. Tian Xiao said that he had already spent ten years here. He wanted to hear the stories of her life outside, but she had never told him before. Yu Yao’s heart suddenly burst with rashness. “Do you want to go out?” She asked, calmly. “I can bring you away.” The girl looking in was shocked. “Are you crazy? Will you take responsibility for all the things that will happen if we bring a man that we don’t know with us?” Yu Yao unhurriedly nodded. “I’ll take responsibility.” She looked at Tian Xiao fixedly. “Will you go?” I can go out… Tian Xiao looked up at the round hole, which was being blocked by a girl’s face. But the outside moonlight still penetrated the hole and came in. He could leave? He turned around and looked at Yu Yao, “I want to get out.” “Good.” Yu Yao held Tian Xiao’s hand and walked under the round hole. To the girl she said, “Su Wen, pull him up first.” Su Wen was shocked. “You weren’t kidding?” She looked back out, “Qing Jue, what do you think we should do?” The person from outside was silent for a moment, but the man named Qing Jue still crisply said, “Listen to her.” He was pulled out of the hole, into the outside world. As he stood on the earth, Tian Xiao looked up at the moon, his expression a little dazed. Yu Yao and the three other people organized their belongings and prepared to leave, but she turned around and saw Tian Xiao staring at the full moon. His pale white face was now a bit flushed. Yu Yao frowned. “What is it?” Tian Xiao turned around and his pitch black eyes revealed a brilliant light that Yu Yao had never seen before. He foolishly smiled, as if he was a child who had received the sweetest candy. “Yu Yao, the moon is so close.” Yu Yao was startled, and her heart randomly clenched, as she murmured, “Yes.”
