They'd barely let me stay in the room with her the last time because apparently it's against the law to threaten a doctor with bodily harm for being f.u.c.k stupid.
I thought the situation was pretty self-explanatory. She was crying for pain and the f.u.c.k refused to give her anything because the baby was already crowning. Like what the f.u.c.k?
This time I was prepared though, I was going to keep a cool head if it killed me.
I called the doctor before writing a note to let the others know where we were; then I got the bag we'd packed for her and a fresh change of clothes.
"How you doing baby, you feeling alright, hanging in there?"
"In a couple of hours, something the size of Mars is going to try to get through a hole the size of...my t.w.a.t, how exactly do you think I'm doing?"
"Okey dokey." Somebody was feeling p.i.s.sy already I see. After cleaning her up and changing her dress, I hustled her outside to the car.
I kept up a running conversation though all I got for answers were growls and grunts. I think I heard an 'a.s.shole' in there somewhere but I ignored it.
I had to remain calm, or so I told myself as I clutched the steering wheel like a lifeline with one hand and her hand with the other, and gritted my teeth each time she cried out.
Never a f.u.c.king gain! We pulled up to emergency and the orderly and a nurse were waiting to take her in.
"I'll carry her, one of you can grab her bag if you'd like." I hoofed it through the sliding doors because her breathing was becoming erratic.
"We're here in time; give her drugs." And this time I wasn't taking no for an answer.
I placed her on the stretcher someone indicated, while glaring at the jacka.s.s doctor.
"Good evening to you too Mr. Helmsworth. Would you like to step aside so that I can tend to your wife?"
What the f.u.c.k? "Drugs, now." She had this stupid a.s.s grin on her face like she was humoring the village idiot or some s.h.i.+t.
I kept my focus on Zania who was trying to give me a heart attack with the screams and s.h.i.+t like I wasn't going through enough h.e.l.l.
The f.u.c.k stupid doctor finally got her s.h.i.+t together and had her set up in a room, before giving her some nice drugs that soon had her loopy.
She wasn't screaming anymore which was all the f.u.c.k I cared about. The others showed up an hour later and I had to do the back and forth thing between her and my kids who didn't understand what the f.u.c.k.
Well Mia did, but Junior wasn't having that s.h.i.+t. He wanted his mama and was prepared to scream the f.u.c.k down if he didn't get his way.
Of course she put on a brave face and let them climb all over her because it wasn't time to push or whatever, while I was having mini heart attacks each time one of the million and one machines next to her bed beeped.
"Babe, what's the hold-up?" She rolled her eyes at me but I was dead f.u.c.king serious. I only had a small window here where I could keep my sanity, and this waiting s.h.i.+t was pus.h.i.+ng it.
"Why don't you take the kids home and put them to bed and come back? I'm not fully dilated so the doctor said it might be a while."
"You're nuts if you think I'm leaving you here alone. Dad will read them a story tonight if I can get him and your grandmother to leave."
"Let me say goodnight to them and then they can go before they get too tired and tear the people's hospital apart."
She wasn't lying. Mia has been making up for lost time and Junior is my son, enough said about that s.h.i.+t. The two of them can tear a place apart without trying.
In the end the kids didn't want to leave and since she was in a private room with a separate sitting area, we let them hang out there until they were too tired to care, then they were sent off home.
Thirty six hours later and bless her little heart for doing it, because if it were up to me that s.h.i.+t would never happen, I watched my son come into the world.
Once again it was the most amazing thing I'd ever experienced, except maybe for the night I'd taken his mother's innocence.
Just like the first time I felt a little piece of my heart go to him, as he wrapped his little fist around it.
"You did so good baby." I kissed her sweat-drenched hair, as we both listened to the cries of our son who was not amused. f.u.c.king Helmsworth.
THE END.
