Another crack and flash-this time closer.

Kyle began to move inside Annie, slowly stroking her, loving her with his c.o.c.k, and pressing against her c.l.i.t with his pelvis as he buried himself deep.

Tickles moved down his spine, and while he knew he was aroused, these weren't s.e.xual, they were

electric.

He thrust more firmly, knowing that his movements were being followed and copied by many in the crowd below. In fact he was counting on it.

The sounds increased in volume, small squeals of pleasure, moans and sighs were giving way to grunts and the occasional shriek as the crowd became more and more aroused by what they were seeing and doing.

It was the biggest group f.u.c.k possible, and Kyle was relying on the emotions to help his machine work.

He pulled back, tossed his hair out of the way, and allowed the crowd to see his hand caressing Annie's breast and his c.o.c.k ramming into her.

The crowd responded gratefully by going into hysterics.

The storm was breaking over them, the lightning scarcely having time to fade between flashes.

Small electric discharges were now flittering along the entire length of the balcony and over the bed, while

on the floor the machinery was reaching full capacity. The whirr was now a whine.

Kyle knew his hair must be standing on end, because most of Annie's was too. At least the strands that

she wasn't rubbing over her pillow. She was following his every move, his every thrust, and answering his pa.s.sion by f.u.c.king him back with every ounce of strength she possessed.

G.o.d what a woman.

G.o.d how he loved her.

A huge lightning bolt split the skies and Annie yelled out her o.r.g.a.s.m.

The crowd bellowed and howled.

An enormous flash of light burst out from the balcony and temporarily blinded the stunned crowd below.

People stood mute, rubbing the darkness from their eyes. When they recovered, they realized the balcony was empty.

The Sun G.o.d had swept up his woman and gone.

Chapter 20.

Annie couldn't help it, she screamed.

This was partially because she was experiencing a mind-blowing o.r.g.a.s.m, but mostly because right at the crucial moment something very hard had whacked her on the back of the head.Something very like a tiled floor.A voice was shouting at her. She concentrated over the pain and tried to make out what it was saying."Ms Lynden...Ms Lynden...are you all right?"The voice was unspeakably stupid. Of course she wasn't all right. She was just finis.h.i.+ng up the climax-to-end-all-climaxes and her head hurt.Wait. He'd said...oh G.o.d...she was home. She opened her eyes to see a technician in the familiar jumpsuit of Pendrake Industries bending over her and stroking her hand."Ms Lynden, my G.o.d, please...say something...""Your fly is open."He dropped her hand like it was a hot potato, blushed and zipped himself up. "What are you doing here ...like that?" He waved his hand and Annie realized that she was naked. Her immediate reaction was, " so?" but then she also realized she wasn't in Sumer anymore either, and her hands flew down to cover her mound from the tech's fascinated gaze.

"Oooh...Mark...look..."

Another voice made itself known, and Annie turned her head to see a young woman pointing at the floor behind her.

The young woman's jumpsuit was hanging around her hips. Maybe times weren't so different from Sumer after all.

But Annie looked where she was pointing and watched as a glow became a light became a fireball andwith a bang a body thumped onto the floor.Annie winced. The body was also busily climaxing at that exact moment, shooting c.u.m across his abdomen."Eeeuw!" said Miss Bare b.r.e.a.s.t.s."s.h.i.+t..." breathed the techie.Annie groaned. She was back in the twenty first century."Help me up," she told the young man, holding out her hand for balance. He stepped over and tried not to notice her peculiarly shaved mound as he helped her to her feet."Take your hands off my wife," a deep voice growled from the floor."G.o.d...it's...it's Dr. Pendrake!" The techie looked as if c.r.a.pping his underwear was a definite possibility.

"Kyle, stop it. We made it in one piece. These two just happened to find us." Annie staggered to Kyle, running her hands over all his dear places just to make sure he was all there. Yep, he was all there. But she checked his b.a.l.l.s just to be on the safe side.Kyle s.h.i.+vered. "Cut that out," he hissed."Dr. P-P-Pendrake?""Get me a lab coat, will you...um...Everton?" Kyle read the nametag from the techie's suit. "And for G.o.d's sake stop staring at my wife and get her something to wear as well."Kyle rose to his feet oblivious of the c.u.m running down his abdomen. The girl shyly proffered a box of Kleenex, eyes glued to Kyle's c.o.c.k, which was glinting very nicely in the lights of the lab. Even relaxed it was impressive.Annie's teeth snapped together audibly."Thank you...Kim," she said dismissively. "Get Dr. Pendrake and myself a drink of water, would you?"With a last lingering look at his crotch, Kimmy turned away."Oh, and dress yourself appropriately please."Kyle sputtered against her. "Dress appropriately? This from the High Priestess of the Moon G.o.d? A woman who tints her nipples and flaunts them around the main square of Kushuk?""Quiet," hissed Annie. "We've got some fast talking to do."Kyle's hand stroked Annie's bare backside. "We'll manage, love. We're together and we're home.

There's nothing we can't do."Annie looked at him and her heart melted. "I love you, you idiot.""Thank you. I think. I love you too. We are married now, you know. When can we have babies?"Annie giggled. "We have some more immediate concerns, at this moment. Like where are we going to live, what are you going to do for a living, how soon can I start my book on Ancient Sumer..."

"A book?" Kyle gave an exaggerated shudder. "You're not going to write about everything we did, areyou?""Sweetheart, I'm not going to write about anything we did. I'm going to write about a totally different couple. Of course the hero will be completely and absolutely gorgeous, with the most devastating green eyes..."Across the room a little beep reminded Kyle that his protege was present. He strolled over. "Well, h.e.l.loagain, Merlin. I had hoped that you'd been cured of your tricks, but it seems that you conspired to getaway with it again, didn't you?"

Merlin didn't deign to respond.

"I'll have some things to say to you when I get sorted out, don't think that I won't," promised Kyle, turning away.

Mark Everton returned, and within moments Kyle and Annie were covered and being ushered out to resume their lives in their own time.

"So. You two, you're a couple, huh? That's a surprise." Everton awkwardly attempted jovial socialinteraction. "How long have you been married?"Kyle and Annie shared a speaking glance. Or at least what Annie imagined a speaking glance should be."Oh, sometimes it feels like thousands of years," she laughed.

"I hear you," agreed Everton, blissfully ignorant of the reality.

Kyle grinned at Annie and politely ushered her before him to the door. But before he left, Kyle spared a backward glance at Merlin.

"Thank you," he mouthed.

They left the lab.

They all missed the soft light that glowed on the large monitor and the words that appeared in an old-fas.h.i.+oned font...

"YOU'RE WELCOME, DOCTOR PENDRAKE.".

Epilogue.

Four thousand years before...

The storm was one of the strongest she could remember, and although it would aid her escape from her mother's prison in Akkad, it was still scaring the wits out of the girl running beside the river.

Her breath was rasping through her lungs, and her heart was lodged somewhere in the back of her mouth as she wove through patches of reeds and splashed in and out of the river's edge.

She was afraid someone had noticed that her bed was empty. That the latest tool in her mother's quest for power and land had fled. She was afraid that her mother might send her guards to hunt her down, and she'd heard tales of what happened to their captives.

Her ankle burned and her muscles screamed at her to stop, yet still she kept on, running south, always south, toward Sumer.

Toward freedom.

Clasped in her hand was the only thing she knew was hers and hers alone. The only thing her brother had left her. It was a necklace, but she didn't dare wear it. If she did, it might break or her mother would certainly have taken it. It had been well hidden for three years and it was hers by right and by love.

It was an unusual design, just an eye shedding a single tear. But it was all she owned, all she had to remember her brother by. And if she didn't escape she wouldn't have that either.

A huge flash of lightning pointed the way to the town below her. It was Kushuk and there seemed to be lights everywhere, glittering, sparking and challenging the lightning in their brilliance.

A mighty thunderclap deafened her and she clapped her hands to her ears as a burst of incredible brilliance from the town temporarily robbed her of her sight. Too late she realized how close she was to the riverbank. Her balance failed her and she went in.

The rus.h.i.+ng waters, swollen by the rains from the hills to the north, swept her along, refusing to allow her feet to scrabble through the riverbed for a foothold.

Sighing, she let the river take her, whether to her death or her destiny she didn't know.

The necklace, however, remained clasped tightly in her hand. It was her past, her wealth, her only possession. It could well have been described as her very soul...

And although this marks the beginning of a different story, it is also an ending, in a way. A magical necklace has found a new home. If you'd like to read what happens next, look for "Visions", part of an anthology t.i.tled "Mystic Visions", coming in March , 2003.
