Chapter 162: Demon Emperor’s Little Phoenix 14 (part 1 of 2)
Kong Ming looked at him with a bit of inexplicable anxiety in his gaze. He moved his hand to the center of the Little Phoenix’s eyebrows, then slightly stroked the tip of the other’s brow, and said: “……Tong Tong, I just had a dream. I dreamed of when you were still a child.”
Upon hearing such, the Little Phoenix expressed a bit of curiosity: “When I was a child?”
Kong Ming nodded, and softly said: “You were a good child in your childhood, and not only were you kind and generous, you weren’t selfish nor callous like the other children either, nor were you sensitive and cowardly. You only had interest towards all new things, and would always want to get to the bottom of everything.”
Kong Ming always remembered the first time he saw the Little Phoenix. The Netherworld has always been neutral among the Five Realms. It wisely stays clear from intervening in the disputes of any Realms, and has a good relations.h.i.+p with the Heavenly and Demon Realm. Thus, as the crown prince of the Netherworld, Kong Ming, attended the Hundred Flowers Banquet in the Heavenly Realm for the first time on behalf of the Netherworld King.
At that time, the Little Phoenix was only about three to four years old, and Kong Ming was also only no more than twelve to thirteen years old. He only remembered, that at the end of the banquet, it suddenly rained in the Temple of Heaven. Kong Ming had just left the Hundred Flowers place with his ghost attendant, when he saw a child crouching at the junction of two walls.
Most of the child’s body was already wet. The long hair soaked in water was like a thick jet-black crow feather. From a lateral view, the eyelashes were as long as tiny fans. The baby fat on the side of the face was especially cute and pretty. Kong Ming couldn’t help but step forward, to ask the other what he was doing. The Little Phoenix raised his head, the very bright large gold colored pupils, were like gems looking at him. A soft and childish voice then sounded: “I’m protecting the little flower from the rain. The little flower will get sick when it is wet.”
Only then did Kong Ming notice that there really was a little flower under the Little Phoenix’s body. It looks thin and delicate, with light blue petals, and has a small glistening and translucent drop of water condensed at the tip of it’s leaf.
It wasn’t until Xian E of the Qi Chen Palace, who was frantically searching for His Highness the Little Phoenix, hurriedly rushed over, did Kong Ming only know of the Little Phoenix’s ident.i.ty. Kong Ming used a spell to help create a st.u.r.dy rain barrier for the Little Phoenix’s little flower, as well as to dry his wet clothes too. Thus, the Little Phoenix took the initiative to reach his hand out to Kong Ming, raise his head and seriously queried with a child’s soft and childish quality of voice: “I’m Tong Tong, who are you?”
Kong Ming hugged the little sweet pea, who had a height that just barely reached his waist, “I am your brother Kong Ming.”
Starting from that rainy evening, the Little Phoenix became the flower in Kong Ming’s heart. Sky blue colored, pure and cute, and full of glittering fantasy. Thus, he guarded his flower, just like how the Little Phoenix took good care of that little blue flower under the rain. He took care of him for such a long, long time, cared about him, and constantly kept him in his mind.
That is my flower.
Every year after this Hundred Flowers Banquet, Kong Ming will always think of this when he looks at the Little Phoenix, secretly and silently looking forward to the time when his flower will come of age, and be with him forever afterwards.
But the other party fell in love with another person after having come of age.
It was completely impossible for the prideful Kong Ming to accept this kind of result. So he sent someone to find out the life experience of An Ying, personally lead the Heavenly troops to arrest the person, who trespa.s.sed the forbidden area in the Fantasy Sea, intentionally let the water out to Mao Shu, told him to take the Zhao Huo decree that can help An Ying resist the thunder and fire punishment, and send a ghost servant to notify An Ying that the Heavenly Emperor wants to kill Mao Shu as soon as the other woke up.
Unfortunately, An Ying didn’t die in the Fantasy Sea’s underground palace, die from the thunder and fire punishment, and neither did he die in the hand of the Heavenly Emperor. The aloof and remote crown prince of the Netherworld still couldn’t understand, he just wants nothing more than to kill that stupid and incompetent Demon Race, yet why is his Little Phoenix the one getting hurt every time?
The Little Phoenix was still too young at that time after all, so he no longer remembers the scene of his first encounter with Kong Ming. But he can still remember some of the embarra.s.sing incidents in his childhood. A faint smile inevitably appeared in his eyes when he thought of this. Kong Ming continued to speak, but the bitterness and astringency in his voice became more and more apparent: “At that time, I always thought that I would be able to take care of you for the rest of my life. But today, I can’t even accomplish in doing the most basic protection. You became this injured, and even lost your heart, but I-……”
“Brother Kong Ming,” The Little Phoenix immediately frowned and interrupted Kong Ming’s words, then held his hand and sternly said: “This is all my fault. It has nothing to do with you. But if you blame yourself because of this, it will make me sad instead.”
The youth’s bright eyes, like those in his childhood days, made Kong Ming even less courageous to confess his mistakes, and only distressingly spoke with a hoa.r.s.e voice: “Tong Tong, do you feel any sadness?”
But the Little Phoenix unexpectedly shook his head.
He doesn’t regret having saved An Ying, nor does he feel that An Ying’s action of asking the heart’s blood from him was wrong. From the Little Phoenix’s standpoint, his family will always be in the most important position. Placing himself in the other’s shoes, if the person dying was the Heavenly Emperor, he will also make the same choice, and will even use the most powerful method to force the other party to hand over everything in order to save the Heavenly Emperor.
So there wasn’t any sad feelings, but only of disappointment and hatred.
