Chapter 27 -Crocodile Tears (3)
Su Xin was keeping her head down while casually glimpsing through the chaos to see how Qu Feiqing was doing .
Quick as lightning, Qu Feiqing was a sight to behold in the battlefield . With her amazing agility, she didn’t need to have the strength of the bull to take down a.s.sa.s.sins twice her size . Her weapon was a folding fan with a series of concealed sharp blades embedded at each tip .
Light footed as she was, Qu Feiqing could be mistaken as though she was dancing . She moved gracefully, flopping her fan such that the blades were sent flying and in a few seconds, several men were lying on the ground writhing in pain . The cries and shouts of horror were her music and the battlefield was her stage . With her every step came spurts of blood staining her white gown .
In her peripheral view, she caught sight of a whoos.h.i.+ng arrow shooting towards the carriage . She held her breath for a moment, worried that her companion might not be able to reach her country after all . But not long after, inky black hair peeped through the smoke . With that, Qu Feiqing continued doing her slaughter knowing Su Xin was fine .
The a.s.sa.s.sins outnumbered the emperor’s guards and several of them were now advancing towards her in a pack . Shouts of people yearning for the remaining guards to protect her majesty could be heard . It was pure chaos, the ground glistened like it was drenched in rain but the liquid was an ugly shade of scarlet .
From the corner of her eyes, Qu Feiqing saw Su Xin sprint for the forest with Shu Juan . Qu Feiqing became livid, thinking that Su Xin was taking advantage of the situation and was escaping from her and their agreement . Or worse, she could have been a double spy . Her eyes shone a ghastly coldness from her believed betrayal and she began to wield her weapon with much furor than before .
Qu Feiqing was delivering her attacks aggressively without any trace of mercy, when she sensed a someone approaching her from the back .
On instinct, she aimed her weapon towards the unwanted person but lowered it after seeing who it was .
Su Xin tore the outer layer of her gown as she ran towards Qu Feiqing, wind blowing against her face uncomfortably making her appear even more fl.u.s.tered . Su Xin knew herself that she was not in shape to fight but she’s flexible enough to help .
Astonished, Qu Feiqing could only look at Su Xin in daze .
“Your Majesty, here I am . ” Su Xin said while catching her breath and Qu Feiqing was brought back from her stupor .
Wasting no time, Su Xin plunged into the battlefield with a weapon from a corpse nearby her .
After hiding Shu Juan in a safe corner, Su Xin rushed back to fight alongside the emperor despite Shu Juan’s cries of protest . Her savage nature begged her to join the battle, to relish in the pleasure of killing once again .
She also wanted to gain Qu Feiqing’s trust .
With all her might, she waved the long, double-edged sword in her hands with a rather awkward technique . It’s been ages since she last took ahold of a cold weapon and the untrained body of original owner was not helping one bit .
Merely relying on memory and on her own fervor in fighting, Su Xin swung the mighty sword against the a.s.sa.s.sins . It turned out to be a futile move . One specific a.s.sa.s.sin concentrated his internal energy on his palm and punched it at Su Xin’s chest when she was open .
Su Xin was was sent flying away in mid air . Her backside violently hit the ground and she howled in agony . She even heard her bones crush due to the impact .
It looked like she could never rival these men’s ancient martial arts no matter how good she was at combat .
[Host, that was the martial arts of ancient China . ] Fourteen’s science chimed in at the wrong time .
I f.u.c.king know it . If not, how the h.e.l.l would I go flying away?
