Chapter 24 Siyu Meets with Jiang Ju “Bird, are you wounded?” Que Siyu found the black fog of the ghost spirit. From the defending status of the ghost spirit, Siyu felt the difference in Bird Three. Besides, when they entered the room, he gave off a b.l.o.o.d.y smell. She asked the man, “Uncle Huo, how is Bird? Why was he hurt so badly?”   “The University remembered their past and developed a deep hatred toward Ghost-Spirit Masters. Why did you allow him to go to the University alone?” Huo Yuan said, “He is a lucky one; he even survived a strike of thunder. But I think he’ll be in this coma for some days.”   “The escape game is coming, and he is one of the players. We can’t wait for such a long time. Uncle Huo, do you have any suggestions?” Siyu asked.   “Call him awake, if you want him die later.” Huo Yuan put Bird onto the bed. He squinted at him with his eyes like a hawk. “Sisi, you are a Mind Master. Do you have the perception of the resource of Bird’s ghost? I feel this is a ghost with strong self-consciousness.” “The Ghost-Spirit Master Ling Shu also had a strong-mind ghost; he became a legend by penetrating the mysteries of life and death. When his eyes turned back to Bird, his expression became unclear. He remembered the last time he saw Que Hun, he asked him to take care of Bird Three, and mentioned that Bird was the only person who could find out the reason for Que Hun’s illness. Huo Yuan started to mutter, “What a good mouse! However, I can’t use you. . . Maybe I can take some blood from you—just a little bit.”  Huo Yuan forged his spiritual fire on his fingers, and tried to cut the little finger of Bird to take some blood. However, a strong power like an enchantment was covering him and bounced Huo Yuan to the door. Huo Yuan was surprised by this change. In any case, he’d never witnessed this type of reaction on any Ghost-Spirit Master before.   Siyu saw the Gao Brothers just as she stepped out of the Mantang Inn. She heard from the Gao Brothers that this murder happened on a mountain of about a hundred kilometers outside the city. Compared to the other wastelands, this mountain was home to fertile earth, due to a river flowing by, and thus suitable for planting. A rich person desired this land. However, the land belonged to a farmer. So the rich person found some excuse to ask the government to take the land back, and later bought it for himself. The farmer lost his land, which was his only source of income. So he went to the Capital City to file suit. But after two years, the little sister and brother got the information about their parents’ deaths on the way back. The sister and brother became even poorer. Then, some more years pa.s.sed, and the government of Qiongyue Kingdom had a rearrangement of most of the officers, including the charger of Xiaoxiang City’s government. The children heard the officer was just and then they ran to sue. That was the scene Siyu and Bird saw in front of the gate of the government hall. They had thought that this officer would give their land back, but the officer had been killed by some thieves. Then the sister and brother had no one to rely on. “Have you found out who the merchant is?” Siyu asked. “He is the leader of the Liu Family, Liu Qian, who was once a b.a.s.t.a.r.d in the little town. We don’t know how he made the Liu Family the richest in Xiaoxiang City overnight. They own a grain and oil business, and enjoy a close relations.h.i.+p with the new governor.” The Gao Brothers always said the same things together. “Sisi, shall we go to the government hall to find some further clues?” Yin Xuelan asked. “No hurry. This case includes another case of the last officer’s death. We’d better not to the hall to investigate,” Siyu suggested. When she took out a spirit mirror to check the information about the old officer, she found the information shared by the Gao Brothers. “The old officer was named Gu Qingming, who was called the First Good Man of the whole city. We can go to the Gu family to check it out.” “You are suspicious of the death of the officer?” Yin Xuelan asked Siyu along the way.   They soon arrived at the Gu family’s residence. When the housekeeper found the visitor was from Que Family, he opened the door immediately. They came into the hall of the Gu family. But they met some old acquaintances: Jiang Ju and his team members. Yin Xuelan became impatient when she saw them and asked the housekeeper, “When will your master come out?” The housekeeper bowed and replied, “My master is sick right now. He won’t be coming to see you today. Those people were here for the same purpose. And they have been waiting here for many hours.”    Yin Xuelan was about to ask some more questions, when Jiang Ju came to meet them. Jiang Ju shook open his folding fan and said h.e.l.lo with a smile. “Sister Sisi, we haven’t seen each other for ten years since our separation in Taohua Village.” His followers, Shang Rukui, Er Ce, Jin Ming, and Xiao Feiyang, also held their fists to salute Siyu. Siyu replied without any emotion, “Second Brother, you have pa.s.sed the exam of Ba Shu City, and ran to my Xiaoxiang City to reap some benefits?”   Jiang Ju said, “Everybody knew that the Gao Brothers enjoyed fame due to their investigative capability rather than their powers. They even rejected the invitation of Dalisi, the Ministry of Judges of the Kingdom. And you have their help. What a powerful team!”   Que Siyu didn’t want to talk to them anymore, so she turned away her head. Jiang Ju felt this, and he added, “I heard that a new player joined the game of Xiaoxiang City. Is he someone I knew ten years ago?” Hearing this, the four followers of Jiang Ju’s faces changed. So did Yin Xuelan’s and that of the Gao Brothers.   Soon, the housekeeper went back and spoke to Jiang Ju, saying, “Eighth Prince, follow me to the off-center hall.”   Jiang Ju followed him to leave.
