Chapter 452: Getting into the Role Fast

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

In the evening, w.a.n.g Yao and his family had Peking ducks given by Lu Xian for dinner. The ducks tasted delicious.

“Hmm, tastes authentic,” w.a.n.g Yao said.

“Have you had authentic Peking duck before?” w.a.n.g Ru asked.

“Of course,” w.a.n.g Yao said.

He had been to Beijing several times. Chen Ying had taken him to all the famous restaurants with over 100 years of history.

Delicious!

Du Mingyang was a meat lover. He could eat a whole Peking duck. However, he was dating w.a.n.g Ru and considered a potential candidate to marry her. Therefore, he didn’t want to lose face in front of w.a.n.g Ru’s family. He tried not to eat too much.

w.a.n.g Yao’s family invited Du Mingyang to sleep over. w.a.n.g Ru didn’t say anything to object, so Du Mingyang said that he was happy to stay overnight. He slept in w.a.n.g Yao’s room since w.a.n.g Yao was going to stay on Nanshan Hill.

“Look, Yao, maybe I should go with you to Nanshan Hill,” Du Mingyang said as more of a courtesy.

“No, I’m used to stay on the hill by myself. You stay here,” w.a.n.g Yao said.

“It’s very cold outside. You probably should wear more clothes. Isn’t it cold on the hill?” Du Mingyang asked.

“No, I’m fine,” w.a.n.g Yao said. He left home wearing a long sleeve T-s.h.i.+rt and down jacket.

Given his fitness, he wouldn’t feel cold even if he was naked. He wore a down jacket so that his parents wouldn’t worry about him.

“He stays on the hill on such a cold night for her herbs?” Du Mingyang asked. “Those herbs must be very valuable.”

“He spends every night on the hill. He’s used to it,” w.a.n.g Ru said. “And, it’s nice up there.”

“What’s nice about the place?” Du Mingyang asked.

“I’ll take you there tomorrow,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

The next morning, w.a.n.g Yao received a call from his mother right after he had finished breathing exercises. His mother asked him to have breakfast at home. As he arrived home, he saw Du Mingyang busy setting up the table.

“Morning, Yao, You are back,” Du Mingyang said pleasantly.

“You seem to be part of the family now,” w.a.n.g Yao said.

“Will you have a lot of patients today?” w.a.n.g Ru asked during breakfast.

“It’s hard to say. But, today is a weekend day. I suppose a lot of people will come to the clinic,” w.a.n.g Yao said. Based on his previous experience, he had more patients during the weekend.

“I see. You see your patients first,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

“Do you need me?” w.a.n.g Yao asked.

“No,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

w.a.n.g Yao went to the clinic after breakfast. As he had expected, some patients had already been waiting outside.

w.a.n.g Ru helped her parents tidy up the house. Du Mingyang also helped with house ch.o.r.es and cleaned the kitchen.

“Mom, Dad, I’m going out with Mingyang,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

“OK,” Zhang Xiuying said.

They headed south toward w.a.n.g Yao’s clinic. They saw four cars and several motorbikes parked outside w.a.n.g Yao’s clinic. People were going in and out of the clinic.

“Hey, are they all here to see your brother?” Du Mingyang asked.

“Yes,” w.a.n.g Ru replied.

“Yao is doing really well,” Du Mingyang said. It was just past 9 a.m.. All the patients came by car, which meant they left their homes at about 8 a.m. It was a bit unusual for so many people to come to see a doctor in such an isolated village.

“Let’s go, I’ll take you to Nanshan Hill,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

“You don’t need to tell Yao before we go?” Du Mingyang asked.

“No,” w.a.n.g Ru said confidently.

They followed the path to go up to Nanshan Hill. The wind on the hill was freezing. It hurt when the wind blew on their faces. It was as if their faces were p.r.i.c.ked by needles.

Both sides of the road were full of dropped leaves and weeds, which looked lifeless.

“This hill looks boring,” Du Mingyang said.

He didn’t get it why his future brother-in-law liked to spend every night on this cold and deserted hill. He doubted if there was any treasure buried on this hill.

“Hmm.” w.a.n.g Ru didn’t say much.

Du Mingyang suddenly stopped after they had pa.s.sed a small hill.

What?

Not far away, he saw a hill covered by green trees and plants, which was significantly different from the hills around it. Everywhere else was dark and yellow.

“Is it Nanshan Hill?” Du Mingyang subconsciously asked.

“Yes, let’s go,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

After they had arrived at Nanshan Hill, they felt the wind wasn’t blowing that hard. The closer they were to w.a.n.g Yao’s herbal field, the warmer Du Mingyang felt. He no longer felt cold when he stood outside the herbal field. He also saw the trees, which were as thick as a child’s wrist, could move.

“Dear me! The trees are moving!” Du Mingyang exclaimed.

He suddenly felt dizzy.

“Be careful, don’t stare at those trees.” w.a.n.g Ru reminded him gently.

“What’s going on?” Du Mingyang asked. He looked at w.a.n.g Ru with surprise on his face.

“I don’t know. Yao said he had grown something in the herbal field that worked with the trees to cause hallucination,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

“Gee! This is amazing,” Du Mingyang said.

w.a.n.g Yao had blocked the entrance to the herbal field and set off the battle array. w.a.n.g Ru had been to the herbal field several times, but she still couldn’t find the entrance. She became dizzy due to the moving trees.

She and Du Mingyang could see the herbal field through the trees. The herbs in the field were growing very well.

What the h.e.l.l is this? Du Mingyang saw a dog, which was as big as a cow. The dog stood there looking at them.

“Let’s go, we can’t get in,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

Du Mingyang was already in shock. He didn’t want to be locked inside the herbal field. He wondered what his future brother-in-law had been doing in the herbal field. Everything on Nanshan Hill was so mysterious. He felt cold again after he left Nanshan Hill.

“Why did I feel so comfortable when I was on Nanshan Kill? It was as if spring had come,” Du Mingyang said. He now felt the big difference in temperature between Nanshan Hill and other places.

“Yao said the trees he planted on Nanshan Hill can adjust the weather around his herbal field. That’s why it is so warm up there,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

Actually, she was not convinced herself. The explanation didn’t make any sense to her.

“Oh, I see,” Du Mingyang said. He didn’t ask any other questions. However, he had found that his future brother-in-law was not an ordinary person.

When they pa.s.sed the clinic again, they found there were more cars parked outside. The cars they saw earlier had already left. Different cars were parked outside the clinic, including two luxurious vehicles.

What’s happening? Rich people also come here? Du Mingyang wondered.

Although the public had some negative opinions on some rich people, one had to admit that a lot of people became wealthy due to their vision and determination. They were different from the general public. They were tougher than ordinary people, which was why they became wealthy.

Often, the more rich a person was, the more they cared about their health.

“What does Yao specialize in?” Du Mingyang asked.

“I’m not sure. He seems to know everything,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

“Cool,” Du Mingyang replied.

“Why did you ask?” w.a.n.g Ru asked.

“Nothing special. I’m just curious,” Du Mingyang said.

w.a.n.g Yao was busy seeing patients the whole morning. He didn’t even get a chance to drink water. It was after 1 p.m. by the time he had seen the last patient off.

After making a few phone calls, Du Mingyang came to the clinic. “Yao, would you like to have lunch?”

“Yes, just wait a second.” w.a.n.g Yao cleaned up his clinic. He then went home with Du Mingyang.

“Have you been busy?” Du Mingyang asked.

“Yes, a lot of patients came,” w.a.n.g Yao asked.

“May I ask what you specialize in?” Du Mingyang asked.

“Hard to say. I see all kinds of patients,” w.a.n.g Yao replied after thinking for a while.

“All kinds of patients?” Du Mingyang asked with surprise.

“Yeah, why do you ask?” w.a.n.g Yao asked.

“Oh, no reason. I’m just curious,” Du Mingyang said.

Zhang Xiuying cooked a banquet for lunch. w.a.n.g Yao drank a small amount of wine with his father.

“Yao, is there any restrictions when you see patients?” Du Mingyang asked.

“There are exceptions,” w.a.n.g Yao said.

“What exceptions?” Du Mingyang asked.

“If it’s more than six conditions, I won’t see a patient. I also don’t see anyone I don’t like,” w.a.n.g Yao said while smiling.

“Oh, I see,” Du Mingyang replied.

“Why are you asking Yao this?” w.a.n.g Ru questioned him in a low voice.

“I want to introduce some patients to Yao,” Du Mingyang said.

“You don’t need to,” w.a.n.g Ru anxiously said. She knew her brother well. w.a.n.g Yao was neither interested in having a lot of patients or making money.

“I mean it,” Du Mingyang said seriously.

“Okay, fine. I know,” w.a.n.g Ru said.

There were not many patients in the afternoon, just two elderly people. They came with their children. Their conditions were not serious. w.a.n.g Yao provided them ma.s.sage therapy.

“Will you go back tonight?” Zhang Xiuying asked Du Mingyang.

“Yes,” Du Mingyang said.

“Would you like to stay for one more night?” Although w.a.n.g Ru and Du Mingyang came home every week, Zhang Xiuying wanted to keep her future son-in-law at her house as long as possible.

“No, thank you,” Du Mingyang replied.

“Hey, Mingyang, can I have a word?” w.a.n.g Yao and Du Mingyang came out of the house.

“I can see that you like my sister,” w.a.n.g Yao said.

“Of course, I really want to marry her,” Du Mingyang replied.

“Good, you must treat her well,” w.a.n.g Yao said.

“Don’t worry, I will,” Du Mingyang promised as he patted his chest.
