Chapter 6 . 1: Strange Beast

“Mistress, why did you save it?”

Little Shadow flew over to Duanmu Xi’s side, her grey blue eyes uncomprehending .

Duanmu Xi looked at the Snow Wolf’s back and a glint flashed across her eyes .

[Why?]

[She herself wasn’t too sure either, she just knew that she did not want to see it die . ]

“Let’s go, let’s find a place to wash these clothes first . ”

Retracting her gaze, Duanmu Xi then looked down at her blood splattered white robes and her brows creased up in a frown .

“Mistress, let me lead you to find some water . ”

Little Shadow flew in front of her and sensed for the direction where there was water spirit aura .

Very soon, two of them came before a row of shrubs .

Duanmu Xi parted the shrubs that were a lot taller than she was and walked in through them .

What met their eyes was a small water pond and a thick veil of mist swirled over its surface, like it was covered over with a light veil . There were tiny specks of blue lights floating over it, full of spirit energy .

Duanmu Xi walked over to the pond and brushed a hand lightly over the spring water .

It was actually a warm spring… . .

Sensing the powerful spirit energy, Little Shadow could not help but flutter her wings excitedly .

“Mistress, the spring water here is filled with spirit energy . I had sensed that there was strong spirit power in this direction . Mistress, why not just have a warm spring bath here and it might do your internal injuries some good . I’ll go outside and help you keep watch . ”

Duanmu Xi stripped off her clothes, and stepped into the spring .

“Ahh… . . ”

Duanmu Xi let out a comfortable sigh .

The warm and soothing spring water immediately drove away the day’s exhaustion and she could even feel that her internal injuries were slowly recuperating .

Just as Duanmu Xi was getting groggy with sleep as she laid back against the side of the pool, the water in the pool suddenly began to surge and shake violently .

Duanmu Xi instantly came awake and flew straight out to the side of the pool without the slightest hesitation, grabbing up the clothes she had left right there at the edge .

At that same moment, right in the middle of the spring water, a large vortex surged up, and the water rocked even more violently, where even the ground beside was rumbling .

Duanmu Xi stared intently at the centre of the spirit pool, her brows knitted up .

Keeping guard outside, Little Shadow felt a powerful surge of spirit energy which drove her to quickly fly to come to the side of the spirit pool .

Right at that moment, the snow wolf who had been treating its wounds not too far away also came to sense the strange commotion, and it then went sprinting towards it .

“Mistress, what is happening? It’s such a powerful surge of spirit power . ”

Little Shadow had come flying inside in a hurry and her face was one of astoundment when she saw the vortex in the spring .

“I don’t know . ”

There was no discernible expression on Duanmu Xi’s youthful face as her violet eyes continued to stare unwaveringly at the centre of the vortex .

When the snow wolf who arrived here in a flying sprint saw Duanmu Xi standing at the edge of the pool, her body licentiously draped only with a white piece of clothing that was half wet, its amber eyes glinted sharply .

Chapter 6 . 2: Strange Beast

[It’s her again . She’s as beautiful as the sprites on this mountain . ]

The vortex at the centre of the spring grew bigger and bigger, and then a loud boom was heard when a strange beast leapt out from the vortex .

It had the head of a dragon, its body a mashed mix . It had the tail of a cow, the hooves of a horse, scales of fish, and a pair of light grey dragon antlers .

“Mistress, it’s a water type divine beast, the Water Qilin . ”

Seeing that strange beast suddenly leap out, Little Shadow’s face was grave .

Shock could be seen in the eyes of the snow wolf as well .

She had not thought that a deserted island like this would be hiding the Qilin, a divine beast . Could it be… . .

“Audacious human! You dare desecrate my spirit pool . ”

A beam of water blue light then shot straight towards Duanmu Xi together with that furious shout .

Duanmu Xi felt a powerful surge of spirit power lunging straight at her and under that mighty oppressive force, she was not able to move at all .

With a loud bam, Duanmu Xi was sent flying more than ten meters backwards .

“Ugh… . . ”

Duanmu Xi let out a groan, and a mouthful of blood spurted out .

Seeing Duanmu Xi hurt, the snow wolf’s amber eyes lit ablaze .

[d.a.m.n it, you dare to hurt her?]

Duanmu Xi endured the excruciating pain and slowly stood up as she clutched her chest .

Wiping the blood off the corner of her mouth, she did not try to explain but just stared coldly at the Water Qilin .

“Mistress, are you alright?”

Little Shadow was anxious and angry, and she had immediately flown to go right before the Water Qilin . She planted her hands on her hips and pointed a finger at it as she berated the divine beast .

“Who would know that the pool belongs to you? Is your name carved on it? If you are so afraid that people will come, why didn’t you set up a barrier array around it?”

Looking at the raging little sprite in the air, the Water Qilin was a little taken aback .

[An ancient magical spirit sprite?]

[To think that a magical spirit sprite that been extinct for several hundred millions years would appear here . ]

Legends told that magical spirit sprites were divine creatures in ancient times and there was nothing they did not know, an omniscient existence . They also possessed many controlling techniques that were a great help in battle . “Ha . A useless piece of trash without any spirit power could actually possess an extinct magical spirit sprite . Are my eyes playing tricks on me?”

The Water Qilin raised its eyebrows in curiosity, its interest seemingly piqued .

Hearing the words “useless trash”, Little Shadow’s eyes flared with anger as she snorted with derision .

“What kind of a divine beast is this? It’s merely a frog in the well . ”

“Just a level one sprite and you dare to be so arrogant . Great Torrential Burst… . . ”

The Water Qilin was infuriated and it raised its claws to send endless water blue light beams shooting straight towards Little Shadow, like it intended to completely drown the little sprite .

Just as the water blue light beams were about to strike onto Little Shadow, Duanmu Xi charged forward and used her own body to block the light beams .
