Chapter 486: Another Lesson for Her
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
Earlier on, Cheng Xin had intentions to come cras.h.i.+ng on Xiang Wan.
Xiang Wan had walked rather fast and when they b.u.mped into each other, the doc.u.ments would certainly fell onto the floor.
When that time comes, even if she couldn’t put her in place, it would be good to vent her anger.
However, just how did Xiang Wan know about her thoughts in advance?
Cheng Xin was dumbstruck and looked at her gloomily.
“No need to thank me!” Xiang Wan smiled at her innocently and tightened her grip. “You don’t have to be so moved. Just make sure your doc.u.ments won’t fall, alright?”
Cheng Xin felt anger boiling inside when her love rival hugged her.
However, besides sending a glare at Xiang Wan’s way, she was at a loss of how to respond to her.
“Oh yes, Officer Cheng,” reminded Xiang Wan seriously, but she was actually feeling glad when she saw Cheng Xin’s agitated look, “I’m studying mind reading besides criminal psychology recently… Do you believe it? When you looked at me earlier, I already knew what you were thinking.”
Cheng Xin immediately felt her body going stiff.
Of course, she wouldn’t believe it, but Xiang Wan had said it in a very earnest manner.
For a moment, she could not speak or move.
Both Cheng Xin and Xiang Wan looked at each other for quite a while. When she saw that the arrogance on Cheng Xin’s face slowly dissipated, she let go of her hands and shrugged. Then, she stood farther away from Cheng Xin and chuckled.
“Officer Cheng, do you read all those gossip news?”
“What do you mean?!” Cheng Xin was a little disheartened when Xiang Wan held her earlier.
Xiang Wan looked at her with sympathy. “What a pity.”
Then, she shook her head and wanted to leave.
The indignant feeling within Cheng Xin started to pulse through her veins.
She glared at Xiang Wan and walked two steps after her. “Say it!”
Xiang Wan turned back and saw her twisted expression—Cheng Xin wanted to flare up but was desperately trying to contain it at the same time.
“If you’re free, you should go check it out. It’s very interesting since someone in the internet described me as the type of character that could survive in a harem drama show till the ending. How many episodes do you think you can stay alive?”
Cheng Xin gritted her teeth. “Are you laughing at me?”
“Pffft! Isn’t that obvious?” Xiang Wan pointed at her head. “When people were in a state of negative emotions like jealousy, anger, and pain, their intelligence would actually be lowered. Officer Cheng, I know of a very good psychiatrist, do you want me to introduce you to her?”
“Xiang Wan!” Cheng Xin shouted her name but quickly realized that this was the workplace after all and lowered the volume of her voice while she stared at her. “Don’t push your luck!”
Excuse me, who’s actually the bully?
“How did you become a postgraduate in Criminal Investigation Studies?” Xiang Wan smiled. “When you seemed to seriously lack some logical reasoning?”
Cheng Xin was now livid with anger. “You…”
“You shouldn’t blame me for bullying just because you failed to set me up,” interrupted Xiang Wan, “what kind of logic is this? You should go back, reflect on yourself, and write a 10,000 word summary of self-reflection. Maybe next time, you might be able to get me.”
Cheng Xin’s eyes opened widely.
What was she saying?
Had she gone crazy or something?
She was actually lecturing her?
What the…
What the h.e.l.l?!
Cheng Xin felt that she was about to explode in anger.
However, Xiang Wan just plastered a smile on her face and turned away.
She left just like that…
… She ignored Cheng Xin’s anger.
She ignored the fact that… their fight had not ended!
Nope, they didn’t fight at all!
Right from the beginning, Xiang Wan was always smiling, and she spoke in a way as if she was offering some advice.
… Like a supervisor rebuking a subordinate.
… Like a wise woman who was reprimanding the younger, impetuous generation.
Like…
… Like the type of women that Cheng Xin especially hated.
On what basis? On what basis could she be so arrogant?
Was it all because she was Bai Muchuan’s girlfriend?
Right, she was Bai Muchuan’s girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend…
Cheng Xin felt enraged but powerless.
Bai Muchuan was always on Xiang Wan’s side.
Cheng Zheng was also on her side; everyone felt that she needed protection because they thought she was weak.
There was no one else that saw how she had looked when she behaved so proudly before her earlier…
…
With such emotion, Cheng Xin’s tears welled up in her eyes. While she stood along the corridor, she reflected on herself seriously for the first time.
She was wrong.
She had been wrong, big time.
Her first mistake: she was too pampered. She had been spoilt when she was little, and that was why she looked down on Xiang Wan.
Her second mistake: she had portrayed herself as a strong character while people protect the weak out of the norm.
Her third mistake: she did not get to know Bai Muchuan before Xiang Wan.
However—
As long as he was not married, she could still get a chance.
Cheng Xin lowered her eyelids and tightened her grip on the doc.u.ments she was carrying as she made her way to Bai Muchuan’s office slowly and pathetically.
She gave a light push on the half-closed door and it opened slowly.
“Captain Bai…”
Cheng Xin bit her lower lip while almost talking in a sobbing tone.
There was pity written all over her face.
Without saying another word, a tear flowed down her cheek. She could not tell him what kind of grievance she had just suffered.
Such a look could stir the sympathy in most people.
Bai Muchuan furrowed his eyebrows and just looked at her without saying a word.
Since Cheng Xin did not hear any response from him, she sniffled and continued to stand at the doorway.
“Captain Bai, I’m in the wrong.”
Bai Muchuan raised his eyebrows but still said nothing.
Cheng Xin saw that there wasn’t any change in his expression, but he did not show a mocking expression like he always did, and she actually felt encouraged by that.
“I have been doing self-reflection every day. I realized that I have been too full of myself and took myself too seriously.”
Bai Muchuan squinted his eyes while he listened. “So?”
This was the only time Bai Muchuan spoke to her in a calm and peaceful tone.
Cheng Xin’s tears streaked down her face as though she was venting about the earlier unhappy episode. “I’ll seriously overcome my shortcomings. I hope Captain Bai can accept my self-reflection, encourage me to improve, and not give up on me easily…”
Bai Muchuan grunted a reply. “Continue.”
Cheng Xin was still carrying the heavy pile of doc.u.ments, and she was unsure what he meant by ‘continue.’
After giving it a thought, she continued talking about her self-reflection. “In the future, I will note down the mistakes I have made in the past and try to improve myself. Please give me a chance, Captain Bai…”
“Very well.”
Bai Muchuan nodded.
Cheng Xin smiled with her teary face while she finally obtained his approval.
“Thank you, Captain Bai!”
Bai Muchuan responded, “I’ve never tried to make things difficult for anyone at work.”
Cheng Xin was so thrilled and moved about what he said that. Her tears couldn’t stop flowing like the beads of a broken necklace.
Thus, when she wanted to wipe off her tears, she had forgotten about what she was holding. The heavy pile of doc.u.ments fell onto the floor with a thud.
Ah! What just happened startled her, and she quickly crouched down to pick them up. She was fl.u.s.tered and looked kinda pitiful.
The next moment, she heard Bai Muchuan’s voice.
“Since you reflected on yourself so deeply, go back and write all that you have just said into a self-reflection report and hand it in.”
“Eh?” Cheng Xin instantly looked up at him in a daze.
Bai Muchuan casually said, “The report should be no less than 10,000 words!” Immediately after that, his mobile phone rang.
After he finished talking on the phone, he took his coat, and it seemed that he had to leave the office. “I have something on! After you’ve finished crying, leave the doc.u.ments on my desk.”
Cheng Xin looked at him in bewilderment.
She was still thinking about the words ‘no less than 10,000 words!’
Why did that sound familiar?
Did he hear what Xiang Wan said earlier?
Did Xiang Wan sent a message to complain about her to Bai Muchuan?
What the…
What the h.e.l.l!
Cheng Xin’s fury sprang back to life once again.
However, Bai Muchuan did not look at her at all. He directly strode past her crouching figure and left the office.
There seemed to be a cold aura around him, just like Xiang Wan, as he left.
…
