Chapter 1.1

At a time in my life when I have become too lazy to count my age my last Junior Brother pa.s.sed away.

After I sending his spirit off, I turned my head and saw rows of his disciples kneeling in front of Kong Ling sect’s temple. They took up nine thousand stairs in total, even though quite a lot of his original disciples have also already pa.s.sed away. Among all these people nine out of ten are calling me Great Ancestor already.

After being addressed that way, I decided then and there to take a disciple to save my aged heart.

Thus, I accepted my first disciple.

At that time, for the task of accepting a disciple, my junior sect members were very busy. They presented me with thirty thousand portraits, letting me pick the best one among them, to raise into an immortal among humans, to bring glory and grace to the sect.

But no one, including me, would have guessed that I would find my first ever disciple inside a monster’s hole.

He was about to be eaten by the big bird monster that had dragged him into the hole and I was at that time coincidentally craving monster eggs. I put my hand into the hole, didn’t manage to grab an egg, but managed to grab the child’s leg instead.

I dragged him outside and with one look recognized him as a clever progeny of remarkable spirit.

Using one strike I killed the big bird monster screeching next to us, carried the little kid underneath a tree and, without even asking for his name, said:

” Do you want to be my disciple?”.

Fearfully he first looked at the corpse of the bird monster and then looked at me:

” What is a disciple?”

Since I have never had a disciple before I also didn’t know what that really meant, but at a time like this deceiving the child was most important. So, I replied:

” A disciple is a little treasure I will feed, clothe and hold in the palm of my hands to dote on.”

“Feed?”

“En, delicacies of every kind.”

“Clothe?”

“En, the best attires of silk and satin.”

“Little treasure…….”

“En en, darling little treasure.” I reached out my hand to pat off the dust and dirt on his face.

He looked at me with big eyes and a pair of sparkling obsidian pupils. It truly made my heart ache. Such a small, skinny and dark child was nearly eaten up by that monster and no one came to save him.

I held his small hand, crouched down and looked him in the eyes:

” Become my disciple and I won’t let any man or monster bully you again. I will protect you for a lifetime.”

He looked at me and agreed.

I excitedly brought him back to Kong Ling sect, bestowing him the name of “Qian Gu”.

Symbolizing my hope for him to learn and inherit my legacy, to leave a mark for generations to come and for his name to be remembered for all of eternity.
